This has been on my shelves for a long time. It just wasn‘t for me. I was hoping for a cool take on “5 people alive or dead you‘d invite to dinner” but what I got was a watered down romance.

“If I reveal this, will the whole tower collapse? If I tell him how I really feel, will that be my last turn? It was terrifying and exhilarating because every time I took another piece out and the tower stood, I felt like I‘d won. What I didn‘t remember is that at some point in the game, the entire tower falls. It happens every single time. It is the only way the game ends. Why then did I keep playing, knowing that I would be left with rubble?”
I listened to this book and the author narrated it. The narration wasn't that good and made the book kind of boring. The MC has a birthday party where 3 people from her past, her best friend, and Audrey Hepburn attend. A lot of it is the MC trying to repair relationships, and maybe even change some events that would affect her future. It was an ok book, nothing too exciting or noteworthy.
The characters sucked, yet I cried ugly tears because of the plot.
Everyone has been asked that common question, which five people dead or alive would you invite to a dinner party? Well luckily for Sabrina, she is able to make this question a reality. Including Audrey Hepburn, her dead absent father, her best friend who hasn‘t been as present lately, her favorite college professor, and that one recurrent boyfriend that she can not seem to shake. An interesting, entertaining read
I really enjoyed this story about Sabrina and her birthday dinner, attended by five people whose names she'd written on a piece of paper.
Thanks so much for this birthday gift, Misty! @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
This was a reread for me and I loved it just as much the second time around. It‘s both sad and hopeful. A lovely story!

#pop21 - book set in a restaurant
I really liked this book. It's a fast story about the 5 people you'd have at the dinner table if you get the chance. There were only two minor issues for me that didn't really impact the story, but overall it was enjoyable. It does make me think about who I'd invite to my dinner. #litsyAtoZ challenge @bookishmarginalia
Wow. I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, I cried, I felt happy and sad. I loved the characters - great tug at the heartstrings read!
"And then I let him date me for almost two years. " ? I don't know why this line gave me a chuckle.
A little bit about a magical birthday dinner with Audrey Hepburn, mostly about analyzing an imperfect romantic relationship. Definitely reminded me of what it was like to be in my 20s. The audiobook is read by the author and a short, enjoyable listen.
"People in relationships are either flowers or gardeners. Two flowers shouldn't partner; they need someone to support them, to help them grow. ..... There are flowers and gardeners. Flowers bloom; gardeners tend. Two flowers, no tending everything dies."
I‘m a bit of a crier, and this book made me cry at the end. To me, it feels a bit overwrought, but nonetheless touching. A lovely look back on the importance of holding on, and more importantly, letting go. If any of you read it, I‘d be curious if you could tally how many bottles of wine are drunk in this book. I‘d wager.... 40? Haha!

Enjoy!
Several of Rebecca Serle's books are on my TBR list This one was available by audio through Hoopla and I enjoyed it so much! The premise is, which five people, living or dead, would you want to have dinner with? Fair warning, the last 10 minutes will take you to your knees and have you reaching for the tissues! This book definitely has me thinking...🤔
This is the lamest, least-well-thought-out, star-crossed lovers piece of BS I‘ve ever read! I rage-read the last 12%. I would not have finished if I weren‘t in a no-bail zone. I have nothing good to say about it. Bye #botmbacklog to the library sale. May you find a more affectionate reader.
#nutsinmay book 9/9...BRING ON THE PRIZE!!
Also #doublespin!! Done!!
Let me start off by saying this was a good book. The flipping back and forth got a little aggravating but got me thinking about who I would pick to go to dinner and why. Its an intriguing notion though. The chapters of the dinner were great.
I loved being part of #NewYearwhoDis hosted by @monalyisha
I love seeing what books others read and enjoy. I would never have read tagged book without @Birdsong28
Read 3 total and they were all 4⭐ books. From bottom list I have read or own #3, 5, 7 and 8.
I would never have read this charming and emotional book if it was not for @Birdsong28 @monalyisha and #NewYearwhoDis
Thank you for the unexpected and much appreciated Christmas gifts, @EH2018 💜💜💜 The cats already commandeered their toys! @WanderingBookaneer and I are so happy your kitty is doing better! Big hug, Erika!
I have been so caught up in #scarathlon that I almost forgot to read my book club book for work! So I did this weekend - and I don‘t think I realized how wrapped up in the story I was until the end. It/I was more emotional that I expected. 1 pt for #teamslaughter @Clwojick
If you could pick 5 people, living or dead, to have dinner with, who would you pick?
What seems to be such an innocuous question turns into reality for Sabrina Nielsen. What follows, will change her life.
Such a lovely novel that was hard to put down.
I‘m sure you have probably thought about the question “who are the 5 people you would ask to your ideal dinner party?” This is the story of such a dinner party and the main character has included Audrey Hepburn! The author read the book for the audio, and she did not add to any enjoyment. There were a few touching moments and a surprise reveal from one of the guests. That being said,it‘s still a borrow rather than buy in my opinion. #evenwithaudrey
Extremely fictional but the beautiful telling of lives that were always intertwined.
I started this book as audio read by the author. She is sorely lacking in narration skills - I bailed. I moved to print because of an upcoming IRL bookclub. I was invested in the last half so it could be my first book that moved from a pan to a pick.
For this pic I looked through my shelves for 5 IRD (in real dead!?) folks in which to dine for an evening. This dinner could prove interesting!
On to a new Playaway! Started while cooking dinner! It is read by the author, and I think she should have hired a professional! Crossed my mind that I might not be able to continue! She‘s not a Neil Gaiman, if you know what I mean. 🙂

Little bit of a slow reading month. I didn‘t get as many audiobooks in this month either so that‘s a factor. The tagged book was my favorite from this month.
Oh the ending 😭😭 There was a lot I really loved about this but I really enjoyed how it wasnt so much a happy ending but an ending about living and moving forward. Ugh the tears tho! Very glad I picked this as my #BOTM and I should've read it a long time ago.
"But isnt that part of love? Refusing to see the parts that are so dark, so grim, they would send you running? Or is it that you see them and love anyway?"
Haven't been reading a whole bunch this summer... bc you know... it's summer... but I'm hoping to finish this up soon. I'm really enjoying the concept and how the story goes from Sabrina's life to the dinner and back. If I had more time to sit and read, I probably wouldve flipped through this a lot faster than I have bc it is interesting.
This book started out So-So for me, kinda slow, and a lot of jumping back n forth in time. But I stuck with it and in the end I loved it. Definitely one that has potential to make you need some tissues.
I finished this in one day. On the surface it‘s a story about Sabrina and her 30th birthday dinner with her theoretical dinner list companions - her list of the 5 people she would most like to have dinner with. I went into this thinking that it would be a light, fluffy read. Then I was concerned that i wasn‘t going to like the main character. I ended up being wrong on both counts. It‘s a story of love, loss and beautiful second chances.
Starting this one... It has been on my TBR list for a while... Let the story unfold... 🍷🍽

6/10. I wasn‘t really a fan of the flashbacks every other chapter. I felt like I was reading two separate stories, and I didn‘t like that. It could be a cute story though.
Thank you so much @bookish_wookish 🤩🤩🤩🤩
I love Titanic and I‘ve been wanting to read this book for a while!! Thank you so much!!
And thanks to @kstadt929 for putting together such a great swap!

I‘m DNFing the #BOTMbacklog pick, it‘s not for me and the narration is boring. 😂 and I‘m not motivated enough to pick up the physical book. 🤷♀️ #BOTM
3-28-19: My 25th finished book of 2019! This one made me cry! 👍🏼📖#️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ #thedinnerlist #rebeccaserle
I can't make up my mind about this book. I liked it, it was different, yet I felt like there could have been more of something I can't put my finger on. I enjoyed the idea of Sabrina's list that she made that became a reality (I think) to help her with all the loose ends in her life.
#BOTM
Very good. Loved this from start to finish, especially due to the twist in the middle which I didn't see coming. Don't be fooled by this cover as it will leave you with tears in your eyes by the end of this book as it covers issues that will leave you reeling and make sure that you are thinking about this long after you have finished it.
