I‘m waiting for my sister to pick me up for a quick family road trip this weekend. We‘re all moving a little slowly after staying up late watching baseball. ⚾️😮
Meanwhile, here‘s a reprise if #green books for #blackcatchallenge
Three bingo lines so far in the 2018 Litsy Reading Challenge. Noodling away at the rest. #lrc2018 #litsyreadingchallenge
IDK, I don't have much to say about this book - I read it for completionist purposes, and to tick the "previous DNF" box in a reading bingo card. Mostly, I haven't been reading much at all since Hugo awards reading season finished, and this blanket is why! This is the very start of the Karoo Vintage Mystery Along, done in Stylecraft Special Aran. I think I'm in for quite a ride with this one.
Friends, I failed you. I fell out of the habit of reposting #murchieplusbooks photos. Please accept this one of the little dude with A CHANGE OF HEART by Sonali Dev as my apology.
First book finished for #24in48. I think this this is my least favourite book by Dev. The first half dragged, it could have been a lot shorter.
Kicking off #24in48 by trying to finish this off. The pup is snoring away under the blanket. Let‘s see if I can I get it done before she wants her breakfast.
I‘m mid-way through patch testing for allergies and I‘m so uncomfortable & crabby that my trusty reading companion wants nothing to do with me, snuggling with her toys instead. I can‘t blame her - I can‘t focus or sit still and when I do, I think everyone in this book needs to get a grip (it‘s about a man whose wife was murdered when she figured out a crime ring was killing people for their organs.) My review of this one may not be fair...
Sneak peak of my #SecretSantaGoesPostal gift! I got to practice my hand lettering on the box. And hmmmmm why did I tag this particular book...I wonder, I wonder.... Can't wait to mail this one out.
I think Sonali Dev is becoming one of my favorite writers. Her stories combine my love for Bollywood and reading together. And that‘s the best combo!
I realized that I didn't review this after finishing it last weekend! I had been sitting on the last 15% of this book for a few months. I don't know if the content was too difficult or if I wasn't feeling it, but I decided to finally go back to it and was rewarded with a beautiful ending. I usually don't like the idea of love after loss, but the end was so extraordinary that it made up for it. Two broken people helping each other to pick up the
Not my favorite book by this author, but glad I finished it!
Meh. I'm not typically a romance reader but I do want to get into it. I thought this would be a good place to start because the author is a WOC and I heard it recommended in NPR. It was VERY angsty and the chapters from the villain's perspective were fairly revolting. That said, I devoured it 🤷🏽♀️so, 3/5 stars. #Romantsy
I really enjoyed "The Bollywood Bride", so I was looking forward to reading this. It wasn't bad, but a bit disappointing. So much of the book was dark and depressing that when the love story finally emerged, it seemed a bit rushed and unbelievable, and the ending tied up too easily. I like her writing style, and that her romances have depth and substance, so I will read more, but this wasn't my favorite.
A beautiful and heart-wrenching book. Sonali Dev is a beautiful writer - I've loved every one of her books so far.
I didn't realize that this fit into the realm of Sonali Dev's other books until this clicked something in my brain! That's Vikram and Ria!!!! 💜💜💜
I needed this quote today. 💛💛💛
Here are some of my #greencovers for #marchintoreading . The Transatlantic Conspiracy is a blueish/green, but I'm counting it anyway 😁
Today's library book haul! I went to pick up one hold and came out with 3 books, 1 graphic novel, and 2 movies for my son. Funny how that happens! 💜
This was really between a pick and so-so for me. I adored her first two books and this one just didn't have that same magic. I found parts of the premise incredulous & the romance a leap. There were parts that were too graphically violent for my taste. Still a not quite magical Dev is a good read. #romantsy
Possibly one of the easiet prompts of this challenge. #bookriot #riotgrams #favoritecover #sonalidev #achangeofheart #ownvoices #diversebooks
🔔📚🔔 today's ebook deal amazon/b&n. I LOVE Dev's first two novels and recommend them even to those who don't read romance. Her third novel is way more angsty in the first half of the book and will maybe be too much for some readers BUT the second half falls into exactly why I love her as a writer and even brought some of my favorite characters.
Wow, I don't believe I've read this much in one month since high school - I might be addicted to books 📚🙃
If you saw my list of 2017 books by Indian authors and lamented having to wait for them to come out, this new list I wrote is for you!! https://www.bustle.com/p/10-books-by-indian-authors-you-may-have-missed-in-2016-...
Beautiful! I can't imagine being able to tell a story with my body--always look at dancers with awe and envy. Love the idea that the stillness-the space between-is thee most relevant. Reminds me of reading...what makes reading so intimate is what we bring to fill the spaces in our stories. It's what makes them our own. 💕📚💕
me: you are going away for 4 days. 2 books will be enough.
also me: pack five print books and your e-reader.
I finished this book a couple days ago but I'm just now getting to posting it! I really enjoyed this, it was more thriller than romance which wasn't what I expected but it was a fast paced read which was exactly what I was looking for. I definitely recommend it!
A powerful quote about victim blaming, about why people do it but what it's actual effect on the world is
Weekend reading plans! I'm half-way done with each of these and I hope to have then done in the next two days!
My reward for a successful dinner party is an hour of reading a new book! I'm looking forward to reading Sonali Dev for the first time!
Started this on the plane. DEN --> BWI
Just had my heart ripped out when I remembered who Nik and Jen were from the previous book. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, SONALI DEV???
#ownvoices #diversereads
This just didn't do it for me, I feel like it was a bland romance without all the cultural references that made Dev's first two so brilliant. I still enjoyed it, I just didn't really really enjoy it, ya know?
Full review over on Goodreads.
Hmmm...I didn't really like this book. I can't decide if it's that I was expecting the author of the Bollywood affair to write something light and fluffy and this was excellent but not what I wanted/expected or it was something else. I recommend behind the beautiful forever as a companion piece.
Not sure how I feel about this one. Pacing seemed a bit off? More time could have been spent on the mystery aspect.
Ready to dive in for some multicultural romance and heartbreak.
I received this book as an ARC. This novel is an excellent example of taking a genre, following it faithfully while bringing an important issue to the forefront. Sensitive issues are addressed with respect and honesty but never heavy handed or syrupy. If you were ever on the fence about romance - this is a choice to make you review your stereotypes.
#libraryhaul To recover from the 6 hour conference call (yes, the 6 is not a typo), I had to get out to the library. Found all of these beauties just hanging out there. How could nobody else want these?! Well, that's good for me, though.
Looking forward to reading this! I enjoyed her first two books very much.
Jess and Melinda both loved this book. Read their review on the blog.

I'm late getting to this ARC but I am loving it so far! Sonali Dev is just fantastic!
There's not much that's not contained in this story: mystery, Indian culture, romance, a dark criminal underground, medical crimes, relationships so tentative, so fragile, with stories of their own in the making. Full review @ www.goodreads.com/review/show/1759000980

Whoa! I just finished this and was completely blown away. I knew I wanted to try this author and I didn't bother reading the summary.
Man, was I in for a surprise! This story is dark, difficult, and brutally emotional. It's so much more than a romance! There's also a mystery and a crime investigation. It's about two broken people, finding the courage to help each other heal.
