A book for its time (2011) in terms of current events and entertainment, but I also found it relevant regarding other topics like, working moms, and sexism. Tina Fey makes smart and funny observations and I really enjoyed reading her writing.

Good hearing Tina Fey read. Didn't joy all promotional lines (people and vendors to purchase products) and a lot of recap of shows we've already seen. Overall, decent easy listen, providing a number of laughs along the way.

Read this in one day and laughed a lot. Surely watch 30 rock before you read, for some context

I have a Kindle copy of this but ended up getting the audio from the library. No regrets. No doubt listening to Fey‘s own narration of her laugh out loud funny memoir added plenty to the experience. Fey also tackles the more serious topics of barriers to women in comedy, balancing work with family, life lessons to be learned from improvisation, and more - all with a light touch and leavened with her trademark humor.

It was interesting and a fairly quick read, but not as funny as I was expecting. I suspect the audio book might be a better medium. It might also be a more meaningful read for someone who struggles with accepting that their work/contributions/leadership is something of value. I might recommend to specific people it could resonate with more than me, but overall my impression of this book was kind of meh.

Ive loved her forever!!! Everything she lays her hands on is gold! SNL and 30 Rock were amazing and I wouldve liked a little more insiders on those but her story was HILARIOUS! I waited forever for it to come on Scribd and it never did bc I most certainly can imagine how good this was on audio.

If you enjoy Fey's dry, sarcastic sense of humor, this is a book for you. The only think that disappointed me is the lack of talk about Mean Girls. If you are familiar with her work, this book really holds no surprises.

I enjoyed this book. I listened to it as an audiobook that was read by Tina and it made it a really fun listen. She shared her experience in the way that only Tina Fey can, with humor and grace. I had a great time listening to this.

So...this is a new development!

I enjoyed this light romp through the world of comedic entertainment. It is a fun and lighthearted look into the life of a very talented actress.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tina Fey narrating her book! She‘s hilarious and I forgot how much I love her.

The whole time I‘m listening to her book I keep picturing her in Mean Girls! 🤣

I need some funny and I‘m sure Tina Fey will deliver! 👍

I liked this well enough, but it was likely not as enjoyable or funny to me as it would have been to her fan base.

I enjoy bios & autobiographies so, even though I could never quite get into/enjoy the SNL type comedy & therefore lots of the name dropping was lost on me, I did enjoy this listen.

Tina fey is a funny woman. I remember reading a part of this in a barnes and noble, wasnt able to finish it because my mom was calling me to go home but i remember laughing so much. 9 years later, im still laughing. Good read. Would read again

I had the audiobook and loved it! I‘ve never seen her on television. This is my first time hearing about her because this book was recommended to me. She is funny!

This was a fun audio to listen to while on a road trip!

I'm not generally a fan of TV memoir things, but this audiobook is pretty hilarious. There were many parts that made me laugh out loud and one section that had me laughing until I cried (with my hair-trigger pandemic emotions, it's admittedly not that tough to get me to cry, but laughing to get there is a pleasant change of pace).

Enjoyable while reading about her personal life, but lackluster when discussing her professional life. I found myself wandering while she is discussing her successes and struggles on 30 Rock. This is where she lost her comedic flare and just sounded like the rest of us - overworked and on edge. The very thing I wanted to escape from!

I did expect the book to be constant laughs, not just laughs sprinkled through the essay, but that‘s on me.

I needed something light hearted. Glad it was this. Made me laugh and re-watch 30 Rock all over again.

Funny woman Tina Fey shares a bit of her professional and personal history in this memoir that traces her work life from the YMCA to Second City to SNL and 30 Rock, and her life from childhood through motherhood. Laugh out loud funny at at least three points, the memoir was enjoyable to listen to, especially with Fey narrating, but it was nothing exceptional. #Audible #Audiobook

Tina Fey is funny, her book is so-so. I enjoy female comedian memoirs so I really looked forward to this one but it ended up being a lot of rambling and side notes and I found myself getting lost or zoning out.

Finished this ebook the other day for my IRL book club. It was definitely funny. However I often felt like she was jumping from one joke to the next without really giving us much of a story. I would have liked more meat between my jokes in a lot of places. Overall I enjoyed reading it for the jokes, but didn‘t feel like I got much out of it besides a few laughs.

As a long time fan of Tina Fey, I was very happy to have read this book. It was hilarious for 95% of the book. Her stories of growing up were priceless and her stints on SNL and 30 Rock were great. The only thing I couldn't resonate with her was the ending with the motherhood stuff, probably because I'm not a mom. But besides that I loved the book especially her lists!

Just wasn't for me I'm afraid. And I winced at the bit where she said her dad was right to tell her "if you see 2 black kids riding one bike, put your bike away" because "well they were going to steal my bike".

So-so experience.
I was expecting a good laugh, and while some parts were pretty damn funny, I found myself reflecting on the hard truths behind the situations (‘women aren‘t always taken seriously at the workplace‘, for exemple), which mostly depressed me at times. Maybe I just read it at a bad time in my life! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Even if I‘m disappointed in the “fun” part, it‘a still a really good book, and I recommend it :)

Quite a few updates to catch up on! This was great on audio as read by Fey; funny of course and upfront about being a female comedian and juggling personal and professional goals. Though Fey doesn't necessarily delve into deep, dark secrets she's candid and honest about things she feels like she may not have handled well in certain parts of her life.

So glad for it to be over. This book was a disappointment. Not what I expected. Not funny and that was sad. I was really looking forward to a comedy and this was definitely not hitting the mark in anyway. Learning experience seeing actors perform and reading their memoirs are not in any level the same.

86% done. I am determined to finish this book. It's actually not so bad now, but this one will be on my completed list never to pick up again.
