Somehow I never got around to actually reading this one before even though I knew it was one I‘d love, and it didn‘t disappoint. Although it‘s written almost as an illustrated short story, and that‘s not my favorite length for Gaiman‘s writing. I find his work more compelling when he either takes the space to flesh it out even more, or keeps it startlingly brief.

This full cast version was quite honestly beautiful to listen to. Highly recommend to anyone and all.

It's easy to say that I want more of Gwendolyn Christie and this narration she did has just made me fangirl some more. It's a well done narration from the entire cast and I loved all 57 minutes of it. SO much that I wish there was more to listen to.

10/10 would recommend this story, I really enjoyed this book. It's such an interesting retelling of sleeping beauty and I love the artwork.

Enjoyed while priming. An entertaining listen. As always I love Gaiman's characters and his...weirdness? I feel I would have liked an even longer story with the dwarves but the brevity keeps the interest in the mashup/retelling. The twist is good too. Short & sweet.

When I was looking for a Snow White book for the #FairytaleReadingChallenge hosted by @Charityann I came across this book by Neil Gaiman. It is short and beautifully illustrated, so I had to buy it. We should own beautiful books, right?

This one was just too strange and choppy for me. I liked the concept, but there never really felt like any kind of driving plot and I never connected to the characters. This is one that I think would have been more interesting as a full novel instead of a short story.

I‘m going to try and read two books for this month‘s Sleeping Beauty #FairyTaleReadingChallenge and this was my first. It‘s not my fave Gaiman retelling, but I still liked it a lot. I also really enjoyed the artwork in this graphic novel. @Charityann

I wasn't a fan of this one unfortunately. Though I did like that the author meshed a couple of fairytales together in the story.

This was good. A mix of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Short and worth it.

Read the book and then listened to the BBC audio drama adaptation. An excellent take on the fairy tale with an unexpected twist--at least it was unexpected for me. Both versions are great. There's some embellishments in the adaptation, but really all it does is create a slightly different experience of the same story. (Also Gaiman cameos in the adaptation, so... 🤩)

Today was the last day that the BBC‘s dramatization of The Sleeper and the Spindle was available to listen to. Available for a few more hours at this point I think. I‘m sure it can still be found online elsewhere though. It was a sweet short fairytale. Honestly I was expecting (and hoping) it to be fully sapphic, but still liked the lady boss queen very much. #BBC #Radio

Clever remix of fairy tales, tension, and sly humor. My only quibble about this #audiodrama is the mixing levels. The sound effects can distract from the cast's nuanced vocals.

Definitely not Gaiman‘s best work but still a pretty entertaining listen. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for short fairy tale retellings to read with witches, fairies, princesses, dwarves, etc. 🧝🧚‍♂️👸

Why do I feel I read this same thing in the news recently?? 🤔

This was not as good as I hope it would be. Neil Gaiman being my favorite writer I thought I would love this classic retelling. It just fell short in a lot of spots where it was building up. If anything the cover is just gorgeous and the artwork is just as beautiful.

This was such a fun quick read!

I found a gorgeous new-looking copy of this book at my local used bookstore, saw it was by Neil Gaiman and had to have it. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and this was such a cool twist on Sleeping Beauty. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes graphic novels and fantasy/fairytale retellings. 5⭐️

Wonderful original story tho I think I missed out on so much by listening to the audio rather than reading it physically with the illustrations. I‘d really like to reread this as a physical book as I can imagine the story would inspire such beautiful illustrations
