Season
Season: Big Flavors, Beautiful Food | Nik Sharma
6 posts | 4 read | 8 to read
There are few books that offer home cooks a new way to cook and to think about flavorand fewer that do it with the clarity and warmth of Nik Sharma's Season. Season features 100 of the most delicious and intriguing recipes you've ever tasted, plus 125 of the most beautiful photographs ever seen in a cookbook. Here Nik, beloved curator of the award-winning food blog A Brown Table, shares a treasury of ingredients, techniques, and flavors that combine in a way that's both familiar and completely unexpected. These are recipes that take a journey all the way from India by way of the American South to California. It's a personal journey that opens new vistas in the kitchen, including new methods and integrated by a marvelous use of spices. Even though these are dishes that will take home cooks and their guests by surprise, rest assured there's nothing intimidating here. Season, like Nik, welcomes everyone to the table!

I've been cooking out of this in August for a cookbook club I came across in Instagram. I can highly recommend it for people wanting to cook with Indian flavors but not all traditional dishes. He really does everything by hand so I had to make do for the mortar and pestle. Here are the dishes I made:
Sweet Potato Bebinca
Egg Salad with Toasted Coriander
Margherita Naan Pizza
Bombay Frittata
(Not pictured: cardamom iced coffee)

charl08 Wow! Impressive stuff. 4y
Sace Looks delicious! 4y
BiblioLitten Those are really good Indian dishes with a twist! 4y

This is a really beautiful cookbook with Indian inspired dishes. I wish somebody would put a bowl of this soup in front of me right now! 🥣

I borrowed it from the library. It is fun to peruse and it‘s made me hungry, but I won‘t be purchasing.

I don‘t usually do these... but I really like seeing what everyone is reading & I don‘t always find time to post reviews (which also serves that purpose).

My Feb TBR (though I don‘t know that I‘ll actually finish all these this month... life‘s rather chaotic these days!)

#ER = Early Reviewer (arc)
Book group = my real life book group
#Cbbc = #coffeebeanbookclub (haven‘t received Feb‘s yet)
#SFMBC = Speculative Fiction Mail Book Club (secret ☺️)

Ggggg Yeahh! I am also reading american marriage. Have fun reading this month 6y
AnneCecilie I‘ve wanted to read “Vanity Fair” ever since I saw the latest adaptation on TV. I‘ve been eyeing that same edition of the novel. Is it a good edition, footnotes etc? 6y
Avanders @GeekShique thanks!! 🤗🤗 @AnneCecilie it‘s a beautiful edition, but I don‘t know that it‘s any better than others, text-wise .. I know there‘s an annotated version on amazon.... seems a bit cumbersome to me, but it probably depends on what you want to get out of it 😁 I‘m definitely looking forward to watching both recent adaptations once I‘m done reading ☺️ 6y

I wanted to love it, but didn‘t. However, it does give some familiar foods an interesting twist, so definitely worth a look.
