I know the story of Robin Hood - I think many of us do, in some form or another - so to have retold by this author, I knew I was going to be hooked.

What I didn't expect was to be crying in my bed at almost 2 am because of how much I came to care for Marian and her story.

Enjoyed Huntress so I had the library order this in for me.

When Robin of Locksley is killed at war his betrothed, Maiden Marian, is left floundering. Unsure of how to continue without him she throws herself into the affairs of the people and before long she finds herself becoming a figure of hope, a vigilante, and a criminal to the crown, Robin O'the Hood. A great twist on a familiar tale.

It was okay. I would have liked it better if there had been more romance throughout instead of all at the end, as is it was just tedious.

I am so utterly disappointed with this book. I was so excited to read a story about Marian taking up the mantle of Robin Hood that this displeasure is just sour. From the start Marian is so frustrating & makes stupid decision through out the entire book. Then that ending are you kidding me, Really Gisborne?! You have got to be joking. Also annoying having Marian be better at EVERYTHING over Robin, I have read bad retelling but this takes the cake.

I wanted to love this book -- the premise is promising & I like Spooner's co-writes -- but by chapter 3 I was skimming just for dialogue. It's overly wordy and easily could be half the length. Then there's the last 100 pages that take an unexpected turn, which I somewhat respect for the surprise factor alone but not at all for the content. It just felt icky. Definitely disappointed with this one. #ya #bookclub

So I started this two weeks ago and then put it down, I finally got back to it.. I‘m just not feeling this retelling. I don‘t like the type of personality written for Marian, and I hate all the “oh woe is me, my love is dead” and all the remarks about how being a lady can be so tragic with no man to tend her. and all the stupid decisions Marian keeps making, like...gahhh this isn‘t the Marian I know and I love. This is just frustrating to read.

I'm enjoying this so far! It's YA, I believe, but it has a bit more description than I'm used to from YA. Nowhere near STRANGE THE DREAMER by Laini Taylor (my favorite read of the year) but it's good.

Starting a new YA book, pretending like there is no grading. 😊

Got my hold in from the library on Saturday and i am so excited to read this! I love the tale of Robin Hood and this is a retelling where Maid Marian becomes Robin Hood and I really hope it‘s good! I have been patiently waiting for its release!

I loved this book. Robin Hood is dead. Maid Marian doesn't know how she is going to go on but she knows she doesn't like the way the people of Locksley are being treated by the Sheriff of Notthingham. So she decides she is going to take the matter into her own hands and protect the towns people on her own. She was a kick ass hero! Can't wait to read what Spooner comes up with next!
