Wow! I LOVED this book! It had such a creepy feel without actually being creepy. It had such a stepford housewives feel to it. I just like all the aspects of this book and cannot wait to pick up the next one! 5/5
I LOVED this YA scifi thriller. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did! Such an intriguing plot that just gets more interesting as it goes - I may have to listen to the sequel as my next audiobook!

Oh. My. Stars. Why has it taken me so long to read this one??! 🤯 Last year, I had about ten of my students ( majority were not big readers) RAVE to me about this book, make me promise I would read it, and make sure I would put the third book on order.⬇️
Going to give this one a try. A lot of my teen girls last year RAVED about this series to me, and were begging us to order the third book. This was especially popular among the girls who weren‘t/ aren‘t big readers. 🎉I haven‘t read a dystopian in a hot minute, so hopefully this series will keep me intrigued.
Part 2!!! This is so much! I am so blessed ! Thank you so much! I love everything so much! Blessed Samhain! Happy Halloween! May this blue moon bring you so many blessings and love ! @Gissy #basicwitchswap
I cannot remember the last time I stayed up until I finished a book!! I wasn‘t sure I even wanted to keep going after the second chapter, but I decided to hang in there to see what the author was going to do with this world she was establishing. Soooo glad I didn‘t give up! I ordered the second book from amazon at 11:30 and it will be here today!
Completes goal 4 for #superseptemberreadathon and square 18 for #bookspinbingo

With the temperature heading down into the upper 30‘s tonight, it felt like a good time for a book and a blanket!
This book is not subtle. It is full throttle teen feminist bad-ass. The obvious lines about Trump and Kavanaugh were brilliant. The screaming take away is that literature 'woke up' 'the girls' from the story and reading these books will help to awaken readers to the dangers, injustices and systemic misogyny that exists for females. It's a valiant effort and a great cause and I hope it inspires a lot of people to push for equality.
Damn that was good.

This YA novel is a lighter version of Naomi Alderman‘s The Power and it will keep you guessing!
This book was amazing; I should have seen the ending but I completely didnt! So it was a welcoming surprise and I did like the ending, however I wish this was a series chronicling what happens after “the ending” don‘t want to post spoilers. Or made into a movie. Idk I just really loved this one. West world meets orphan black for sure!

Progress for this readathon #24b42020. I might actually make it past 24 hours before jan1!! I have work only for 5 hours tomorrow then I‘m off till Jan 2!
Anywhoo, I‘m back reading this before I have to knock out, I really hope the ending is amazing. Cuz so far this is 5/5 for me. Loving all the different angles, feminism in a misogynistic school. My cup of tea

This book has got me so frustrated with the way they treat the girls. Omg it set me off! Lol but damn I‘m really digging it so far and don‘t want to stop reading but it‘s past 1am... probably will stop at 2 am☺️

Book 1 for #24in48 done! @24in48
A mix of Brave New World & A Handmaid‘s Tale in which girls are bred & educated to be obedient & demure. At this all girls school they‘re taught by a male staff to be charming & look pretty above all else. Thinking too much might cause wrinkles after all! But after a chance meeting on a school trip Mena‘s eyes begin to open to what life is like outside the fence & to whats happening to them inside the school.
At a finishing school, one girl discovers things are not as they seem. Memories are missing and people start to disappear.
Very impressed with this dystopian / science fiction YA novel. It's hugely feminist and shines a light on many of the issues surrounding young women, past and present. I'm glad this is the first in a series, I hope the sequels hold up.
This book was amazing. It started off with a very dark tone. It was obvious that something untoward was going on with the girls at the boarding school and as it progressed, we get to see how dark the intentions are. This has a Stepford Wives feel and a little bit of The Handmaid‘s Tale. There are such strong ideas in this about viewing women as property and a call to rise above this ideology. Excellent book - definitely read it if you can!
Oh. My. God. It got so good I can't even describe it.
THE FLOOD GATES HAVE OPENED! The girls are starting to take control.
This is so good and intense and makes me want to kill all the men 🙌
Your library hold will always come in when you‘re having a busy week. It‘s the law.
The points made in the book were valid and important and I appreciated the message. Most people don't realize it is more tiring to fight back even once you know you're being oppressed; it is easier to go on feigning ignorance.
The story itself just seemed sort of skeletal and a bit flat to me. I would have liked to have seen the author make the characters more dynamic and the plot more original and less predictable.
So far, I'm real liking this. I expect it's going to get darker but I am enjoying the characters. I am dying for them to rebel! 😊

Review of this intelligent and terrifying plausible young adult novel up on my blog now if you fancy reading!

I received this e-arc through netgalley - my review is my own honest opinion.
Some people didn‘t care for this but for me it was a bit of a guilty pleasure. I was rooting for the girls to figure out what was going on & for the creepy staff to get their comeuppance.
It did take a bit too long for the penny to drop for the MC, Mena, but overall it was a decent read & indictment of rape culture. 4🌟
Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Simon & Schuster UK / Children‘s, for the opportunity to review an ARC. #NetGalley
I hate bailing on books but I couldn't read another page. I read over 200 pages and I hate the way the girls in this book were treated. They were abused and didn't have their own voice. I kept reading because it seems like they were going to start standing up to the men in there lives. But I knew I needed to bail when I didn't want to read today and have only read a couple of pages . Just can't force myself anymore!

1. Leftover chicken on the couch with Grey‘s Anatomy
2. I just started a bunch of things but hopefully the tagged book
3. Who knows. I‘m a moody reader so could be two could be 12.
This cover is so fantastic, but the insides were a let down. A YA feminist dystopia, but wasn‘t different enough from everything else on the market to really stand out and veered strongly into cliche. However, it‘s super readable and good for a slump. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ https://bit.ly/2MQGhAO

Really wanted to love, though early comparisons to Handmaid's Tale and Westworld made for an impossible order to fill.
