White Stag is a boundless adventure that I enjoyed and read in a few hours.. While the writing is simplistic, it had a good plot. Watching Jenneke, a human thrall slowly evolving into a goblin, struggle with the two parts of herself and accepting herself was beautiful. Lots of action, violence, fight scenes, torture, and gory details. There is even some allusion to sex and rape, but didn't go into details.

Excellent book! Engaging characters and an interesting storyline. I love that the female lead does not need her love interest to tell her that she is awesome - she already knows it!
@FantasyChick - thank you for the amazing #poutinepenpalsfallswap package! I LOVE the blanket, mug and candle holder and I cannot wait to read the books. Thank you so much! @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego
First book finished for October and it's one not on my posted TBR lol. Used free space #23 for #BookSpinBingo #Screamathon #Spookoweenreadathon ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This one was riveting, but there are trigger warnings for rape and brutality. Quite different from some of the fantasy novels I've read recently and I enjoyed it! 😁 Can't wait for the sequel.

Okay I only got halfway through and I could not finish it. I do not understand why in 2020 we still have the whole ”capture turn lover” trope. He can say he was saving her or bringing her to where she belongs all he wants, but this love interest lied for 100 years about the true nature of his relationship to her and it's messed up guys.
Started this today. It has a very quick start, but it's kind of all over the place with building the world. We will see how it goes.
A tough one to rate but extra points for being impossible to put down! I thought the dialogue and everything around the romance stuff was super cringe-y. But the fantasy stuff, the plot, the setting, it was all really well done. And I really liked how we were dropped into the middle of the action rather than spending a whole book on the main character's origin story. This could have been a book 2 but it's very cool that it wasn't.
The book matches my blanket nicely 🖤
I don't know what I expected from this book, but after finishing it I wasn't a fan. The characters weren't very interesting to me and the focus on the love interest bored me.

I, personally, just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would--Nordic myth type stories are usually up my alley. I finished it, but I don't think I'll be reading the next book whenever it's released.
There were some good aspects but in the end it was hard to force myself to finish this. It became a chore and I ended up scanning more than reading the last few chapters. It might have been the wrong genre for me.. too deep in the fantasy aspect? If that sort of thing is your bag though (10 points if you thought of Austin Powers) then you might like it. It‘s a shame because I was REALLY excited for this book, seeing how it‘s supposed to be a dark fairytale that deals with Goblins and Changelings, and there aren‘t enough books out there with awesome Fae stuff in them. The problem is the protagonist. I just CAN‘T with her. You know all the self-insert “emo” characters angsty teens would put in Harry Potter fanfics circa 2002? That‘s her.
So I actually REALLY enjoyed this. I was kind of hesitant because it is originally a WattPad story but the writing wasn't an issue. The main character has a lot of baggage and we slowly start unpacking and challenging it which I really appreciated as the book is clearly semi-autobiographical. The world was given a little bit of structure and detached a bit from the human world without too much worldbuilding.
I'm really curious about this one and I think I'm able to read something this dark so gotta give it a go
White Stag jumps right into the goblin world from page one. A mixture of Vikings and Labyrinth, Nordic folklore is very prevalent. Janneke, a human girl, is taken and raised by goblins. She tries to maintain her humanity while surrounded by magical creatures. I quickly fell in love with Janneke, Soren, Seppo and Rekke. There is a lot of graphic violence and rape so it‘s not for the faint of heart. #netgalley #arc #recommendsday

From a young age I‘ve enjoyed the theories and myths and legends for Goblins~ White Stag has only increased that love and is an excellent action/fantasy novel. 😍😍
⭐️Thank you to @netgalley and @wednesdaybooks for providing me a copy of this book for an honest review⭐️

My first official review and blog post of the year!
#WhiteStag is a brutal stunning dark fantasy about a young girl held captive in the goblin world, a debut novel from a young author who got her start writing the novel on WattPad.
Inspired by Norse mythology!
*I have included trigger warnings.

I liked this one even more than I thought I would. I enjoyed the world she created and liked the main character a lot. I‘m now interested in checking out the sequel.

I actually really enjoyed this one. Similar to a lot of fantasy books but also really different. Quick and easy read from a young debut author 🌟🌟🌟🌟
