Today is my ninth wedding anniversary! Shout-out to the old books that served as our dinner centerpieces; may we never have to lug boxes like that around ever again. 😉 #bookishwedding #bookishmarriage

From NPR Books. My chemist daughter claims this is a very simplified explanation and that many different compounds, combined with environmental factors, will affect how an old book smells. I just really like the vanilla smell!
These two books have traveled with me since I was 16. I bought them at an antique store (The books are first or second edition). I‘ve only read them once. And I have a special case for them besides the bags 📖😋🥰🥰🥰
I just discovered that this is a salesman demo book. It has all the different cover styles, excerpts and pictures. As well there is a order ledger, unused , in the back. This is soo cool!

TODAY‘S PROMPT: YELLOWED PAGES
These book are as yellow as I can get. :)
I have them in a bucket n my living room. They are the “books in waiting.”
They have been waiting a while. :(
Of course this book is so old it‘s not in the database. This is an edition from 1897,back then, before radio and other entertainments , the family might gather round and read a segment or 2.These segments may include moral & uplifting stories, animal facts ,anecdotes etc.My Mom & I were in an antiquarian bookstore, she remembered it was in her Grandparents home & she just had to buy it.Ency. One of my favourite things about old books is that I love finding the occasional forgotten memory tucked into the pages of the book. May it be a pressed flower, a old receipt, a small hand written note. Recently I bought a book in a second hand store and found a family picture inside. I posted it on a lost and found page on FB. And today I got a msg from someone who recognizes one other people. Hopefully this memory makes it home.
Apologies for my incessant posting about sale items. But who else can I share this stuff with if not for you all? 🤷🏻♀️💸💸💸

Cool bookworm find in my parent‘s attic. Inscription to my great great grandfather from his father on Christmas 1877.
This was more of a long essay than a book and despite the introduction saying it is for students thinking about getting into this area of study, it is definitely more for already established academics in the various fields. That said it was interesting and the notes and bibliography alone make it worth the time for people interested in the field.
Starting the first new book of 2018!
I inherited this collection from my greatgreatgrandmother. My grandmother had loved them as a child as had I and when I bought my house she passed them on to me. Then the LAFlood happened and I lost most of my books, including these. Losing this collection hit me hard. Happy ending though, I found a complete set at a library sale months later. Not the same set my grandmother poured over as a kid but it serves as a nice connection to her still.
