A team of scientists and Navy crew descend a thousand feet below the surface of the South Pacific to investigate a spacecraft. 🌊 ⭕️
It‘s got dread, psychological tension, giant sea monsters, and a touch of existential horror. But what most fascinated me were the complex racial and gender dynamics at play, which made me feel I needed a comprehensive critical knowledge of the 1980s to understand. It‘s a suspenseful and twisty story.
I loved this book. A group of scientists go deep down into the ocean to investigate an alien spaceship that crashed hundreds of years ago. Or is it!?
A quick read! Scott Brick narrates.
People may die. There‘s a mystery to solve and a huge storm coming …. Great suspense at the bottom of the ocean.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3
This was one of the first psychological thrillers I ever watched and I loved it, but now that I know the source material I'm so mad! The film makers really did this story dirty!
It had a variety of characters all with unique and interesting personalities, and (especially for the '80's) a wide diversity amongst the cast. I truly adored all of the characters in their own ways but...⬇️
This book was super fun to read. Fast paced, informative and exciting. Deep sea alien adventure 👍🏼
Just came today! This author is one of my sisters favorites and she recommended Sphere to me so I‘m giving it a shot right now. I‘ve never read Michael Crichton before but I know a lot of people who like his stuff

Thanks for the tag @robinb !
1. Charmed (the original)
2. I‘m grateful that my Mom has finally moved from the hospital to a rehab facility after her scary emergency surgery nearly a month ago. 🥰

We'll present 7 books here which will always remain in our minds, because they touched us so much, changed us.

Day 3. @Read-y_Picker, do you want to join us?
A fast-paced horror and sci-fi inspired thriller. Its attitudes were of its time, but the story itself hasn‘t aged too badly at all. A solid page turner that leaves just enough questions unanswered.
Found this playing card tucked into the pages! Looks like the previous owner was part of some kind of "Executive Club," or at least that's the brand of cards lol

I have has this book in my personal library for YEARS and I have yet to read it. The movie was always one of my favorites growing up just because it was so weird and suspenseful so I knew I had to read the book. Found this one at my hometown local library, I believe, for 50c. I'm tired tonight but really want to read something before bed so I'm hoping this one will stick!
2.5/5⭐ The beginning was great, with a spaceship mystery & a cast of characters offering their unique approaches. But by about 1/2 of the way through, the thriller focus far outweighed the sci-fi focus. I appreciate some thriller, but I missed sci-fi at the end. It was to the point that the sci-fi wasn't ever fully explained. I also didn't like the way the author handled issues of race & gender. #projectSAMS #projectTBR #TomeInfinityAndBeyond2018
My husband wanted to read a book together, and his favorite author is Michael Crichton - so we picked Sphere.
Not my usual read but loved it. Science, fantasy, adrenaline. Really enjoy how Crichton writes too, gets exactly what he needs to across without overdoing it on the details.
Also perfect for #worldwaterweek
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a taste for adventure mixed with a little bit of thrills and horror.

#agameoffavorites Sci-fi author Michael Crichton! I devoured his books and Sphere is probably my favorite. His scientific details are impressive and the concepts he came up with are a testament to his genius. His favorite book is Lord of the Flies.
Just finished Sphere. I loved the book! It brings a combination of sci-fi and psychological-horror. If you like books involving deep ocean exploration (and what lies below), science, psychology, philosophy, and horror I definitely suggest giving this one a read. One of Michael Crichton‘s best in my opinion.
I've had this book on my shelf for over a decade and still haven't read it, but I keep hearing it's so good.

Really enjoying this, a science thriller is just what I wanted right now. But holy cow I hate this cover.
God, I can't get enough of this author. Sphere is a suspense novel through and through. Set 1000 feet under the ocean, a team of specialized civilians embark on a journey to understand a shipwreck that seems to be far beyond the reaches of modern technology. What they find down there confounds them all and places them all in serious danger. 10/10, I couldn't get enough. 🌊⛵️
My weekend starts tomorrow and my partner leaves in the morning. Tomorrow's forecast is 31 with a 100% chance of me spending the day reading in my hammock. 🏝☀️ #summerreads #cozy #booknook #outside #readingoutside #weekend
As seems to becoming the usual, I'm four pages into my next Crichton novel and in love. Dr. Norman Johnson might be my favourite character by Crichton yet. I'm thoroughly enjoying his utter bafflement at the concept of alien contact. Can't wait to get further in! 🌊🚀 #scifi #michaelcrichton
Being a father and husband means that there is almost no such thing as uninterrupted reading time, so when I was thinking of a book that was #unputdownable I went all the way back to high school.
One day I got to school early, minutes before they decided to close due to an impending ice storm. So I drove back home and read Sphere. All of it. #aprilamazingreads
Loved this! Such an exciting book! A psychologist goes deep into the Pacific Ocean to help investigate an alien ship. Of course, chaos and adventure occur!
While I'm finishing up this book I had the time to write up some longer reviews on my site: polishgalbooks.wordpress.com! Come read them, let me know what you think. :)
I know my review is a little late... What can I say about Sphere? It was the first Michael Crichton book I've read and it is AMAZING! Equal parts hilarious and action-packed, it's perfect for anyone looking to be up all night guessing what's next. I plan on reading the Andromeda Strain soon as well!
Funny science fiction? Yes, please!! Highly recommend this book.
This book is really getting adventurous! Hundreds of feet under the ocean a group of scientists are called in to observe what appears to be an alien spacecraft submerged for at least 300 years! How is that NOT exciting?! This is so far a fun and thrilling read.😀
Loving my re-read of the first book to introduce me to science fiction. #2016readingchallenge
