Did I just find a Duck Tales (woo hoo!) reference in my romance novel? 😂
pickI finished MAKING UP over some tasty potato fritters at breakfast! Of the four published London Celebrities books, it took the longest to click for me, but it‘s still pretty durned good. Parker seeds this enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of theatricality, fandom, sweet friendships, and realistic trauma processing, all filtered through two characters who really TRY.
Also, there‘s a hedgehog named Reginald. REGINALD.
I‘m gonna be honest with y‘all: my mental health was crap last week, to the point where I denied myself stuff like the opportunity to wallow in CDTH. Despite that major hurdle, I:
• adored CALL DOWN THE HAWK so deep in my soul I can hardly stand it
• cried over CHRISTMAS ON THE ISLAND
• loved THE DEATHLY HALLOWS all over again
• loved Squirrel Girl, liked Superman, and didn‘t much enjoy Deathstroke
I hope to start MAKING UP tonight. #bookreport
so-soWhy didn't I love this more?? I usually love hate-to-love stories, especially when there's fun snarky banter. And they were super cute, and kickass professionals in their fields. There's a lot to enjoy here, but for some reason it just never really sparked with me 😕

pickI'm not sure how to say anything I haven't already said about the rest of this series. It's a glittery pink jewel with a tangled core of emotion. The writing is lovely, the pacing is excellent, and the characters are deep and real.
pickReally enjoying this romance series! My brain is far less inclined to read complex books now that I have two infants but books like this really hit the spot after a long day. Need to track down the next one! #romantsy
pickI look forward to a new Lucy Parker book and this might be my favorite of the series. Trix and Leo cannot be in the same room without insults flying so when Leo is hired to do the makeup at the theatrical circus that Trix works at and they find themselves constantly thrown together is should be the recipe for disaster. It should be but somehow it isn‘t. Parker writes great banter and witty lines but also gives you heat and emotion. #romantsy
pickI preordered this one, and was not disappointed! Lucy Parker has such a knack for making really believable characters who (gasp!) talk to each other, instead of just falling into silly misunderstandings, which is one of the romance tropes that bugs me the most. And Leo is such a sweetheart in this book. 😍😍😍 #jesshowreads2018
pickA lovely and realistic enemies-to-lovers romance between two people who both have some serious emotional baggage. Trix and Leo are both realistic and compelling and you really root for them to work out their problems and make it. #romantsy
pickA really good mix of romance, grown up love and geek. Trix is wonderful, self aware and full of life. Leo is almost too good then I caught myself, nice, hot and good guy are just so rare that when you get one, you can't help waiting for the othef shoe to drop. It doesn't. theater scene, the fandom space, urban London are perfect for Trix and Leo to find solace, love and peace with themselves and each other. #MakingUp #NetGalley

Today was hard. Physically I had very few spoons to work with and was out by 10:30 this morning. Emotionally i wasn't doing much better. It's the fifth anniversary of my mom's passing. I did finish the day. It got better. By 3 pm the pain had lessen. So i'm sharing my flowers, beautiful purple tulips. I'm gonna curl up in bed and read. #happinessisresistance

pickI caved a few weeks ago and requested a few of my most anticipated spring reads through Netgalley with hopes that they would jump-start me out of my reading slump. The reading gods were with me and somehow I was approved!
Making Up was first to come through and it was just what the doctor ordered. Lucy Parker is fabulous with romantic contemporaries and her writing and characters are only getting better with each book. Preorder with confidence!
