This cozy mystery was enjoyable and a light read. I enjoyed the characters, especially the Standard Poodle, Captain Haviland. This novel brought up mixed feelings about development on the coastline. The writers group individuals were each in the process of trying to write a book. Cozy mysteries are what I refer to as “fluff” meaning they for fun. I gave this a 4/5 stars

Litsy to the rescue. I was positive I had read this but Litsy said I was wrong and Litsy knows all. I think I had gotten about half way through and got derailed somehow. I really enjoyed this. Olivia is kick ass and I liked her emotional evolution. And of course there‘s Captain Haviland. Another series I‘ll continue!

I enjoyed this cozy… especially the writers group aspect! I will checkout the rest of the series!!

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't too stereotypical for a cozy mystery and I really enjoyed the authors group meetings.

I enjoyed this #cbbc read. I liked the strong main character, her dog as a main character and the other characters. I like the setting as a character in some ways. I also liked the mystery.

Sometimes what a girl needs to brace herself for another work week is the three b‘s: a beer, a book, and her bulldog.

I hate to give it this book a “so-so“ but I feel like it was a bit lackluster for me and I had a hard time just “getting into it“ I tried. I read it but I can't say I totally enjoyed it (but I can't say I didn't enjoy it either) ... It fit the cozy elements that I find comforting (and greatly enjoy) so thats a plus... I would say between so-so and pick :)

Many of my books set along #TheCoast are cozy mysteries. I‘ve yet to read this one, but I picked it up because it‘s a cozy (they‘re like candy and chips to me...can‘t have just one!) and the series title mentions books (Books By the Bay). This one is set in North Carolina and is the first in the series. #LilithJuly

Ellery Adams is hit-or-miss for me, and this one is a miss. I wanted to like it; it has a lot of elements I like — a coastal setting, a writers group, and an independent female lead character. But this book was basically blah. The murders weren‘t that interesting, and the killer‘s motivation made no sense to me. Also, the two gay characters in the book were such stereotypes that it was annoying.

Definite #DidNotFinish! Bailed in the first chapter. I can't get behind a main character who thinks it's perfectly ok to park in a handicap spot. "It's tourist season" is even more of a reason! If I can't get behind the main character, then bye!!!!!!

My set up on the 4.15 train to work. I have to say I'm not loving this book at the moment - the lead character is annoying me. A lot.

Fun, should have been quick, read. Not my favorite so far in the series though. I read them out of order. This is actually the first. I like Olivia much better in the later books. So, if you find her annoying in this one maybe still give the others a shot. #mysteries #elleryadams

A new cozy series for me. Reading with this guy!!!!

Very good series! These books have characters that are relatable and interesting. I don't feel that often when reading a book. I want to catch up with the series, because they are top quality mysteries!
