2023: A Trilogy | The Justified Mu
17 posts | 4 to read
Well we're back again, They never kicked us out, twenty thousand years of SHOUT SHOUT SHOUT Down through the epochs and out across the continents, generation upon generation of the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu have told variants of the same story - an end of days story, a final chapter story. But one with hope, even if the hope at times seems forlorn. The story contained in this trilogy is the latest telling. Here it is presented as a utopian costume drama, set in the near future, written in the recent past. Read with care. REMEMBERED - TOLD - TRANSCRIBED for K 2 Plant Hire Ltd.

Some SUPER tough decisions made for the fiction #readingbracket. I loved so many of these books. North Woods and Demon Copperhead are all-time favorites, and NW, squeaked in as the top read, but ask me tomorrow and it could be DC!

BarbaraBB Happy that I just bought North Woods! 11mo

#readingbracket for 2023. This was fun! This is the first time I‘ve used this and I‘m surprised at how it differs from my top reads of the year, without organizing by month. This is the #nonfiction bracket.
(One more gushing post for the year about “The Only Plane in the Sky” — for those of you who listen to audiobooks, this one is the best I‘ve ever read!!)

Like others, I‘m digging the reading wrap-up for 2023 generated by StoryGraph. I read fewer books in 2023 than the year before, but quite a bit more pages, which I found interesting.

Chelsea.Poole Wow! 446! 👏 (edited) 11mo

I‘m finally willing to put together my #top23of23 list! 😂 I read so many good books this year that I couldn‘t include here. I went with the books that I feel will really stick with me. I had very clear best fiction and NF books this year, which is unusual for me, and that‘s Chain-Gang and Fire Weather.

TrishB Screen shot for a proper look 👍🏻 11mo
BarbaraBB Thanks, super excited about your list! I notice many people have mentioned the tagged one, I think I should read it too! 11mo
squirrelbrain You definitely should @BarbaraBB - I‘m sure you‘d love it. Great list Holly! 11mo

BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain On my wishlist it goes! 11mo
vivastory I have several on my tbr but have taken a screenshot for future reference. Cursed Bunny & Chain Gang have been at the top of my tbr. I see that one of these was a very recent read. Great list! Happy New Year 🎊 11mo
Hooked_on_books @BarbaraBB It‘s so good! It really got its claws in me. I keep very few physical books after I‘ve read them, and I‘m keeping that one. 11mo
Hooked_on_books @vivastory I think you‘d like both of those. And I usually wouldn‘t put such a recent read on my year end best of list, but that one really feels like it‘s going to stick. So glad it was on the TOB list, as it hadn‘t been on my radar. 11mo
Chelsea.Poole Love your choices! I plan to get to Fire Weather this month 🤞 11mo

It was another year of great reading! I managed to meet (and exceed) my reading goals, completed a lot of reading challenges, and just overall had a good time with my books this year. Above are my #top23of23 - all rated 4.5 or higher on my #storygraph 🤩
Here‘s to the new year bringing more excellent books our way!

SaraBeagle This was on my best of list the previous year! Such a great collection. 11mo
Eyelit @SaraBeagle it really is! Read it for a book club and one of the few times everyone liked the book! 11mo
Soubhiville I recognize a bunch of these 😁📚❤️ 11mo
Eyelit @Soubhiville we did read some good books in our clubs this year 😃 11mo

It was close between the top 2...but overall since I finished Every Single Lie, I knew it was going to win it all.

Here is my #top23of23! It was a great reading year. Love seeing everyone's lists so I can add to my TBR for 2024. 😁 📚

squirrelbrain A fair few of these will be on my list too! 11mo

BarbaraBB Fantastic list. So many similar books. And Cassandra ❤️❤️. I want to read the ones I haven‘t read yet. What is the book second from left on the third row? 11mo
sarahbarnes @BarbaraBB so many! ♥️ That one is Let Me Think by J Robert Lennon. You would like it I think! 11mo
BarbaraBB I mean the one below that. The Lennon sounds great indeed! 11mo
sarahbarnes Ohhh, the third row. 😂 That one is Self Help by Lorrie Moore! 11mo
batsy What a great list! So many to check out. 11mo
merelybookish Great list! Many I loved as well! (Had to screenshot it to read all the titles. 🧐👵). I have not read Foster but watched the movie based on it the other night and 😭😭😭😭 Called A QUiet Girl. 11mo
Reggie Cantoras!! ❤️❤️❤️ 11mo
sarahbarnes @merelybookish I didn‘t know they made it into film. I need to watch that at some point. The book is similarly 😭. 11mo
vivastory @merelybookish I heard very recently that there is going to be an adaptation coming out of Keegan's Small Things Like These w/ C. Murphy. I have a bit of adaptation fatigue, but as he was in my fave of 23 I cant complain 10mo
merelybookish @vivastory I have no interest in Oppenheimer but I do like Cillian Murphy. 😍 And I can see him in that role. 10mo

Since we are midway through the year I thought I'd post my listening bracket results.

JAN - All the Dangerous Things
FEB - Everything Under the Sun
MAR - The Kind Worth Saving
APR - The Banker's Wife
MAY - The Fourth Wing
JUN - The Winners

🐉Fourth Wing🐉 was such a good fantasy, probably the best I've ever read. It's definitely worth the hype.

Sweetkokoro Sorry if you have answered this before but what brand of bullet journal do you use? 2y
Clwojick @Sweetkokoro I almost exclusively use the classic A5s from Leuchtturm1917. I also go for for hard cover. If you hurry, they actually have a B1G1 on today. Code was BFCM22 2y
