A very dark horror/fantasy/magical realism(it‘s hard to pin it in a genre)it‘s a “guilty pleasure” read. Jill Kismet is a hunter,Santa Luz under her protection.When her trainer is killed by a Sorrows, she‘s left alone to keep back the hellbreed that threaten her city. Bk1 of #NovelNovember #readathon is this months #ClassicLSFBC book. I know this is a classic SFF book by a celebrated author, but wow did I want to punch the MC then go take a shower! Bk4 of May is done. I started to read the 7th in this series & realised I couldn‘t remember the previous books! Stupid Covid brain fog. So I‘m rereading all of them, thank god they‘re novellas! This was just as wonderful as the first time I read it in 2016. A unique take on the portal fantasy, it‘s about the children who return & are cut adrift from both worlds. Eleanor West‘s school is their haven, until the bodies are found. #BookspinBingo 👇

Bk2 of #EasterOMC & #AwesomeApril #readathon is done. Finished it last night but have been sleeping most of the day(I hibernate when I get sick)The new Anita Blake book, it was smutty(of course)but ok. Seemed like half a book to me, she‘s bringing out the 30th book on the 30th anniversary of the series later this year which is the other half I assume. I love a novel with intricate world-building & this has some of the best I‘ve read. Then she peoples it with the best characters I‘ve met. This a solid small town suspense romance. Nothing groundbreaking, but very readable, entertaining and very likable characters. The “bad guys” were a bit mustache twirly, but I definitely felt the peril for our heroine. I look forward to continuing the series (standalone stories in the same town/family) 4⭐️

It kept me entertained, so it‘s not a pan. Did they actually ever have a conversation that wasn‘t “I love you” or “let me love you”, etc.? If they did, I missed it.

There was a bit of a story and fight, but it was mostly instalove and sex. 🤷🏻‍♀️ And then it ended so you have to read the next book. But I think I‘ll pass.
