I‘m on the fence between a pick and so-so. I‘ve read enough of Jacobs to know what to expect. This was entertaining enough, though maybe not his best. But not bad either.

This book details the author‘s exploration of the meaning of family, genealogy with all of its good and its bad, and the hope that people will treat others more kindly if we realized we are all related in some way. Jacobs writes in a journal format, outlining his learned knowledge and comical anecdotes while describing his preparation to plan the largest family reunion of all time. It was funny and interesting but not a must-read for me.
This was an impulse read for me, and I‘m so glad I ran across it. Interesting and entertaining. I‘ll read more by this author. #NFNov
Highly entertaining, whether you‘re interested in genealogy or not. And I‘ve been reading Census reports and court records more than books as I try to figure out a tough genealogy problem. Sorry to be MIA - any Griffin genealogists on Litsy? #genealogy
I‘ve gotten back into genealogy lately, so when I saw this at the library I had to check it out. #currentlyreading
"It's All Relative: Adventures Up and Down the World's Family Tree" = something that made me chuckle. Particularly the chapter about identifying the black sheep in our families.

Listening to my book and doing the new #HarryPotter puzzle I got today! Merry Christmas! #audiopuzzle #audiopuzzling
I already read tagged book.
Finding long-lost relatives might make you stop and think #callmemaybe 📞 ☎️📱Do I really want to talk to these people??
I haven‘t gotten very far in this book but it‘s a really interesting take on genetics and how we are all related in some way. Also-I‘m a big fan of AJ Jacobs! I‘ve met him in person and he‘s great! #heatinjuly #photochallenge
This was really fun, a look into the very serious world of genealogy, and a more lighthearted exploration into how and why and where people get interested in their family stories.
Hmm. My first Jacobs and he‘s charming (and reads really nicely on audio). So that‘s ok. But there‘s not much here. We are all related, cousins all, and maybe readers will treat strangers nicer for a few days, or they might be just be a annoyed they put time into such a thin book. On the bright side, Jacobs can actually talk about nothing for a long time and make it entertaining.
Started this audiobook on my drive home today
I wonder who decided that this book goes here.
I came to this book after listening to A.J.‘s podcast ‘Twice Removed‘. I found the book to be very humorous and I loved all his personal stories and anecdotes. There‘s some interesting ideas and it‘s made me curious to explore some of the world family trees that are on the web.
Jacobs never disappoints! His books are always well-researched, compelling, personal and funny. It‘s a tough balance but he pulls it off every time. If you‘re interested in genealogy, DNA tests and family structures, you‘ll love this one.
I love A.J. Jacobs, but I didn‘t love this book. Definitely not his best. It probably didn‘t help that I‘m not all that into genealogy. The stories about his family and some of the interviews were interesting, but it was lacking a lot of his signature humor, and I was slightly annoyed by the whole “we‘re all family and should love each other” theme. Disappointing, overall. 😕
This covers a few of my favorite bases. I love A.J. Jacobs and genealogy is a passion of mine. He doesn‘t disappoint, and gets into the new effects of DNA testing in family research.
I love AJ Jacobs but this wasn‘t quite as strong as his other experimental ventures. I thought the idea of a global family reunion was pretty ridiculous, but the genealogy bits were interesting, and as always, his writing was very witty and fun. I know next to nothing about my family history so this might just inspire me to do some research.

This is my first book by A.J. Jacobs. He explores the way our genes connect us with people all over the world. I‘m curious which book of his I should try next.
I love all of his books and this one is great too!!!
I loved his Twice Removed podcast and can not wait to read this book!
Did you know we share 88% of our DNA with mice? 99.9% DNA with all other humans? Most of us have a small percentage of Neanderthal DNA? Entertaining book about genealogy and author‘s planning of a World Tree Global Family Reunion for a few thousand of his relatives.
This time Jacobs delves into the world of genealogy- with his humorous style and making the most of the connections he‘s made, the book also chronicles his putting together the Global Family Reunion!
Or at least one app. In Iceland, a former endogamy hot zone thanks to its geographical isolation, potential dates can download an app that tells them if they are cousins (actual tagline: "Bump in the app before you bump in bed").
"I know it's about as appealing as pondering the number of insect parts in your pizza sauce or a game of Escape The Room with Ted Cruz". --- Guess who is NOT having pizza tonight?
"Many of the Lilly men sport big beards, suspenders, flannel shirts, and trucker hats. Give them a glass of absinthe and a Zadie Smith novel and they could pass for hipsters in Brooklyn."---- A.J. knows how to put quite an image in one's mind.
