A great read on the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic #motivation. A great companion to Carol Dweck‘s Mindset.

It‘s my first day of teacher development before the 20-21 school year. Here is my classroom 😭 we read the tagged book over the summer for this week. I think some points it makes about what motivates and doesn‘t motivate people are very useful. It talks about ways to foster autonomy, mastery, and purpose, since those seem to be the key ingredients to intrinsically motivating people. ⬇️
Reading this book during the current pandemic was interesting. "Drive" offers a different view of how our work could look, if we were to heed scientists and researchers who have a deeper understanding of what motivates people. Spoiler alert: most of the time, it's not rewards and punishments. Similar to Carol Dweck's "Mindset", this book is very readable and offers a great deal of real-world examples, not just abstract ideas for improvement.
Do you guys have any recommendations for books on the topic of motivation? I'm in a motivation for learning class, and we're doing a book club in a couple weeks. I chose Drive by Daniel Pink, but this is a topic I'm really interested in and I'm sure I'll want to read more on the subject.
Let me know. 🤓

I've just started this now, and I'm already intrigued by the research and what else he has to share! I enjoy reading #SelfHelp book, with an aim to learn and improve my skills, wellbeing, knowledge and so much more!
Are you self help nerd? What are some of your favourite topics?
After watching Pink‘s TED Talk years ago, I enthusiastically added Drive to my list of books to read. This book was such a disappointment. Watch the talk and read the first chapter. Then bail before his incessant jargon rehashing studies other researchers have conducted numbs your mind.
I listened to this for work. My team has been working on transforming our performance review process over the past year and this book has been cited so much in all the research we‘ve done that I felt I needed to read it. Turns out I already knew pretty much everything in it so it wasn‘t too enlightening, but it‘s still important. Really easy listen with simply stated tenets; good for HR people, business leaders, consultants, etc.
Just finished my first book of 2018! A very good book, shares some groundbreaking ideas. The author read it well. It wasn‘t the most exciting page turner I‘ve ever read, but it is definitely an important book. I like how the authors includes several additional resources for further reading and learning. Teaches you about the value of intrinsic motivation and the pursuit of greatness for its own sake. 🙌🏻
Great book about how to get the most out of yourself and others in the workplace. I'm trying to catch up on the #septphotochallenge #somethingforsept #workplacebooks @RealLifeReading
