It‘s okay to fall into an unproductive flow sometimes, but our habits do shape us.
The cool thing is, we get to choose which habits we reinforce.

I think if I‘d read this in my 30s it would have had more of an impact on me. I‘m in my 50s now (like the author) and I kind of think people in their 50s naturally get to the ‘Let Them‘ phase. And it‘s great! Luckily I‘m one of those people who didn‘t really need this advice….I‘m living it already. Hooray to getting older! Letting things go can be very rewarding and cathartic. If you‘re not there yet it is truly something to look forward to!

This book strives to reset our mindsets. Society teaches us that to be a “good” person/parent/spouse we should have a neat, clean house. The author suggests that a neat, clean house is not an issue of goodness or badness; it‘s a functional issue. We aren‘t meant to be the servant to house. It is supposed to serve us. With that change in mindset, the goal is no longer perfection but function. On days when parenting, chronic pain, work, etc keeps ⬇️

Texreader us from completing a chore list or just picking or cleaning up, then do just what you need to do to make your house function for you. If you are up to doing more, great! But let go of the moral self-talk that you are not a good person if the stove isn‘t wiped down, or you skip a load of laundry. The author provides numerous suggestions on how to tackle tasks. This is a good book that anyone who keeps home should read for their own wellbeing. 2w

I turned in section 1 of my dissertation to my SME for review, so I get a night to read for fun… I finished the last Witcher book I was reading, now I can‘t decide. Do I move on to the next (Blood of Elves) or choose something else?! This is what I brought with me to the mountains. (In a Dark, Dark Wood is a re-read) Help?!

DGRachel I thought this one was delightful. 3w
Read4life So many great options. What did you decide to read? 3w

I don't have a lot to say about this one, but I did learn some new things. I understand the perspective of the parent a bit better now. Reading this book was healing for me, so i definitely recommend it to others in their healing journey. By the end I was kind of finished with reading it because I didn't connect with the end as much as I did the beginning and middle.

Oh dear, I think we might have a problem here.
She's talking about the SNS and PNS (sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems) except it sounds like she is saying "penis", which results in startling clauses such as "women with a dominant penis...". And it comes up a lot! (Oh God, now even that innocuous sentence is loaded with Freudian subtext! ?)

lil1inblue This book is so simple, yet it was a lifesaver when I was dealing with an illness for several years. I cannot recommend it often enough! 1mo
