I read this book in one day! The story draws you in and makes you want to keep reading. It also does a wonderful job of showing how a person with OCD might struggle or think. Overall a good book with a great plot twist!

This book is about a girl who suffers from OCD but tries to keep it hidden to appear normal. She then discovers a secret room of poets. The mental health rep in this is pretty good and it has a surprising plot twist I didn‘t see coming.
Sam is a high school student who struggles to hide her OCD from judgemental but popular and fun friends. She struggles to keep intruding thoughts at bay while trying to seem normal like every other student. Then one day, she meets Caroline, a witty girl with a great sense of humour, who introduces Sam to Poet‘s Corner. It‘s a secret room that a group of misfits meet at.
Every Last Word is a about a girl named Sam who has OCD. Sam tries to hide her OCD from everyone, because she believes everyone will think she's crazy. The character development in this book was wonderful! I've never read a book like this, but I'm very glad I did. Tamara Stone did a great job of bringing the struggles of OCD to light! Every Last Word was great book and the plot twist was very shocking!
An interesting portrayal of a teenage girl with obsessive OCD who finds peace in a secret poetry club at school. I enjoyed this book and a the glimpse at a type of OCD that I was unfamiliar with.
Picked this up on a whim at the library yesterday and read it straight through once I got home.
It‘s interesting: I almost bailed 20 pages in because the main character was so annoying (shallow, mean, boy-crazy). I‘m so glad I kept reading. Sam grows and changes a lot and there is a lot more to her story than first meets the eye. By the end I was in tears. It‘s not a perfect book, but I appreciate what that author was doing and recommend it.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It shines a light on OCD, a subject I only know a little about, but the author did a great job with the research on the topic. Sam is a flawed (in her own mind) but likable character and I really love that poetry was her way of coping with her illness.
#doublespin
It snowed here yesterday (finally!) so the kids have a snow day. That means I get to have a leisurely morning with coffee and a new book, my #doublespin pick!
All the feels! Add another favorite writer to your YA contemporary list. Stone is right up there with Jenn Bennett, Julie Buxbaum and Brigid Kemmerer. This book was a solid 4 stars but leaned towards 4.5 at the end. This is my first read of the new year and I hope that's a sign of a good reading year ahead!
Love love love this book! I‘m not really a poetry person, but this book makes me want to get into it. No spoilers here, but I was not expecting the ending at all.
I don't know if I can put into words how much I loved this book! This book gave me all the feels. Samantha in high school. She is dealing with normal high school issues as well as trying to hide from her friends that she has OCD and anxiety. But when she meets a new friend Caroline and she introduces her to the Poet's Corner it changes her whole life. I loved seeing Sam develop into the person she became. Even if it broke me heart along the way!
#LetsTravelJuly Written by Tamra #Ireland Stone, I thought this was a great book about the main character Samantha's OCD- how it affects her, how it affects her friendships, and how she does/doesn't deal with it.

I read one of her books last year and really enjoyed it. Thoughts on this one from anyone who‘s read it!?
I read one of her other books and I really enjoyed it. Thoughts about this one from anyone who‘s read it?!
definitely worth the read!! I struggle w ocd and the way it is portrayed in this story is relatable! An awesome book.
“She didn‘t make you brave, Sam. You did that all on your own.”
How sad is it that I perfectly connect to this part :(
I guess I'm not the only one who names playlists using a line from one of the songs on the playlist...
Every Last Word- realistic fiction about the main character Samantha's OCD- how it affects her, how it affects her friendships, and how she does/doesn't deal with it.

About 1/3 of the way in. YA fiction about a girl who struggles with OCD. Not depressing though.
I was looking for a book with a main character who had an invisible illness for #booked2018 and I found this ya. It shines a spot light on ocd. I found it very readable but forgettable (since finishing I have not thought about it at all).
This book is a great depiction of how today‘s teenager is challenged with many adult themes. It was encouraging to read about the protagonist overcoming her OCD tendencies. A cute little puppy love story is tucked within the pages also.
This book was a definite pick for me. I related to the main character in many unexpected ways, especially as a swimmer and someone who‘s struggled with anxiety. The twists will leave you shocked and wanting more.
This book really spoke to me. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression since grade school, I felt the protagonist‘s pain in many of the situations. I also found writing to be a form of catharsis for me and have remained an avid poet since I was 14. This book also opened my eyes about OCD. The author put a great deal of research into the diagnosis and gave a very vivid picture of the pain caused by this disorder. My father has OCD⬇️
Such a beautifully written book ☕️
Reading the book my student wanted me to read, and wondering about her underlined phrased and words. Feels like I get to see inside her head.
One of my students admitted to me before my class, she did not like to read. Then she gave me this book and told me I had to read it. It was life changing to her. She gave me her copy with her markings in it. One of the best gifts a student could give me is to share their love of reading. #teachersoflitsy #ssrsuccess
This is a lot better than I expected from a relatively new #YA; I'm finding it hard to put down...

I haven't read either of these YA titles yet. Which should I read first?

Overall a good book but it has many drawbacks. The twist is predictable and the characters while being interesting are too superficial and hard to relate or connect too. I liked the book but I won‘t remember it.
For #TherapeuticThursday, here's an article for B&N's blog highlighting young adult novels that tackle mental health. Unfortunately, I haven't read any but the tagged book was a previous YALSA Teen Top Ten nominee.

October 3: Romance Books for National Boyfriend Day - This beautiful book is not really a romance but if I ever have a friend-and-nothing-more as amazing as AJ, I'll consider myself a lucky girl! #bookishwackyholidays
I read this one and remember enjoying it but am listening to it again for a book trivia program and listening to it is making me want to chuck my phone out my car window. Anyone else struggle with narrators?
The story of a teen with Purely Obsessional ("Purely-O") OCD, Samantha struggles to find authentic friendship with others who can accept her strengths and weaknesses and love her unconditionally. Well done

Flour is enjoying spending time with my new read. #currentlyreading #everylastword #ya #books #catsoflitsy
I took advantage of Amazon prime day sale and saw the book 'Every Last Word' which was on a YouTube channel I follow for TBR's/Book recommendations and I was so drawn to the review of this book that I had to have it. Just reading the back of it I'm already obsessed. I can't wait to start reading this.
I pre-ordered this book a few months ago and had forgotten about it until it came in the mail a few weeks ago. Tonight, I decided to pick it up and start reading. Let me tell you I could not put it down. I started it at about 12am and finished it at 4:36am. It took me only hours to finish this truly beautiful, emotional and heart wrenching novel. I felt such a connection to the main character Sam that this book will go down as a new favourite!
