This trilogy is so amazing. There are so many twists and turns!
Mia is in another competition so that when she wins, she can get close to the two people she wants revenge on.
There is still so much to learn about what she is, a Darkin. I love Mr. Kindly and Eclipse.
This book introduces more loveable characters and, of course, ends with a number of different cliffhangers.
I will be starting the final book right away to see how this ends.

This is the second book in the Nevernight Trilogy & it was really good. In this one Mia decides her best way to get to Scaeva & Cardinal Duomo is to sell herself to become one of the gladiatii (think Roman gladiators) & then become the champion of the games 🖤

This is a binge-read book, there is so much happening & many thrilling action chapters that I devoured the last two parts. The first part was a little slow as there is lots of back & forth as to why Mia is a slave training to be a gladiatii. But once the scene is set, you are whisked off on a blood drenched, gore dripping story as Mia steps ever closer to her goal of ending Scaeva & Duomo. Love alt book covers & fan art, need more for this series

I really liked this middle one it had so much intrigue and excitement. I can't wait to finish the last one even though I know it's going to break my heart. Again the sarcasm could be turned down to 10% to make this a five stars for me but otherwise great story telling! 😀

miaelisabet I read the first but haven‘t gotten myself to read the next one, so thanks for the review! I‘ll give it go seeing as I already have the book 3y

Got my #bookspin pick for August finished up today. I'm really unsure how I feel about Kristoff's books. Some I hate, some I love, then there is this series that falls just in the middle. I did enjoy this more than Nevernight but I still don't really get it. 🤷‍♀️

Yikes. This is the second book in The Nevernight Chronicles and not for the faint of heart. Definitely a MA (mature audience) rating 😂 I was losing a bit of momentum midway through but I don't feel like I have any choice but to pick up the third book now. Whoah. ⭐⭐⭐.5

Those last 100 or so pages made the entire build-up so worth it! I'm glad I got some theories right, and that the book ends on just an avalanche of things happening. I thought some of the story was repetitive, which I suppose reflects the goal of the main character, but it does take away from how 'fast' the story is. I didn't think there was going to be some lgbt rep in this, so I was pleasantly surprised, but sad it didn't end so well.

I really struggle with this trilogy, but at the same time I can't stop reading them. I love the world. I hate the footnotes. I love the writing style. I hate the excessive descriptions. I get near the end and tell myself I'm not going to read the last book, then it ends with a ridiculous cliffhanger and I immediately put the next book on hold at the library. Not for everyone but kristoff definitely knows how to keep readers turning pages.

It's the #24B4Monday #readathon and I've finished my first book.

Without spoiling the content,... This has Middle Book Syndrome. The first in the series was good. The second has too many predictable plot twists. I'm off to read the third now.

3.5 stars.

Cathythoughts So lovely ! They love to spread themselves around 😁 4y
julesG @Bradleygirl I'm preparing the sourdough starter. It takes 5 days. Every day you discard some of the batter, but I thought it was a waste. It makes for very fluffy pancakes. I just added some eggs and sugar to the leavened flour and water mixture. 4y

this is one helluva sequel...Kristoff took much of the basic plot setups from the 1st book and turned it on its head, for the better. there's a lot of twists that reframe much of the current story and I'm excited (and slightly concerned) about how everything will wrap up in the final book. there's a bit of a slow start (similar to the first title) but once you get over the initial hump it's a wild ride.

This is the second in the Nevernight trilogy. It continues the story of Mia Covere and her need for revenge for her family. It was quite brutal to be honest and the fighting scenes reminded me of the Hungar Games. Anyway I will read the final book. It is not one of my favorite series though. #bookseries

OMG OMG OMG OMG! This book was a lot better than the first one because the same characters from the first one become more developed and change in a way that was not expected at all. The book was full of twists and turns that make me curse in anger and yell in triumph. Mia is such a complex character and Jay Kristoff is a master when it comes to surprising the reader. I can‘t wait to read the next one!

Andrew65 Schools still open in U.K. but now having to tell parents, in line with government guidance that if children have a new continuous cough or high temperature they have to take children home and self isolate them for 7 days from first symptoms. We are planning and producing work packs for all children for when we close. The Chief science adviser to government said today if they closed the schools today they would have to be closed for FOUR months!! (edited) 5y
Karisa @Andrew65 We're looking into supplementing at home time with digital work for students. But I'm not sure how many families can manage kids at home extended time. Our district is providing food to those in need daily while out. For now, it's just a four day weekend for us... but 4 months! 😱 5y
Andrew65 @Karisa Problem with shutting schools (I am a school principal) is stops people going to work including the medical profession, or they have to be looked after by the vulnerable older age groups in our society. We know any digital work will be a barrier to our most disadvantaged children. (edited) 5y

Butterfinger @Andrew65 we are in the same boat in rural North Carolina. A lot of our families don't have access to the internet. I'm a fifth grade science teacher and I have been getting simple materials for safe experiments today to review what we've learned so far this year. I'm hoping the activities will help with the boredom. 5y
Andrew65 @Butterfinger We aren‘t closed yet so are in major production mode producing packs for children to take home with them if they close. Been working on plans all week. Trying to make it non technology based in the main. 5y
Karisa @Andrew65 @Butterfinger Just got word that our whole school district in Northern California is now closed until April 6th at least. . . Probably for the best but feels so strange. 5y
Andrew65 @Karisa We are keeping schools open for the time being. That also feels surreal when all other countries closing. 5y

BOOKS I READ IN FEBRUARY

FAVOURITE: Goodsgrave, just like the first book in the series, this one is packed with action, amazing characters... and the ending is amazing!

LEAST FAVOURITE: A Million Worlds With You, I was honestly dissapointed with the end of the series. In the end the plot twist felt stupid (I almost never use such words in connection to books but here I can't really help it).

1) have to admit, can't believe January is over already. It just flew by, I had so many things I wanted to finish/get done before the end of the month. Oh well, there's always February.
2) Nevernight by Jay Kristoff - I read a lot of So-So and Pan books. My reading year can only improve.
3) easy, I want to finish the trilogy before my birthday (end of March)

alisiakae Strong meme game. See ya, January! Although February is usually my least favorite month of the year, at least it tends to go by quickly. 5y
AlaMich Man, I cannot agree with you about January! It feels to me like it has lasted about three months already. It's been so endlessly gloomy, I'm pretty sure i will burst into flame if and when the sun ever emerges. 5y

This author is worse than George R.R. Martin when it comes to killing off characters you love, fair warning. The ending was epic! This book had excellent character development, great plot twists throughout, gratuitously gory gladiator scenes, and steamy, graphic sex scenes. It was perfection. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
