The Wendy Project #1
The Wendy Project #1 | Melissa Jane Osborne
16-year-old Wendy Davies crashes her car into a lake on a late summer night in New England with her two younger brothers in the backseat. When she wakes in the hospital, she is told that her youngest brother, Michael, is dead. Wendy - a once rational teenager - shocks her family by insisting that Michael is alive and in the custody of a mysterious flying boy. Placed in a new school, Wendy negotiates fantasy and reality as students and adults around her resemble characters from Neverland. Given a sketchbook by her therapist, Wendy starts to draw. But is The Wendy Project merely her safe space, or a portal between worlds?

That was sad. It‘s a take on Peter Pan that opens with the Wendy, John, and Michael going over a bridge in their car into the water. Wendy thinks Peter Pan took Michael, but everyone else thinks he‘s dead and she‘s crazy. The handwriting and art got a little too abstract/sloppy at times so it was hard to see sometimes. Interesting use of color and not.

A Peter Pan spin-off about a girl named Wendy who thinks her brother is in Neverland while everyone else thinks he's dead. This had some amazing artwork.

An original unique retelling of Peter Pan. A little melancholic, but very good.

Finished Nice Try, Jane Sinner and these two. The Wendy Project had some of the most beautiful drawings I've ever seen in a graphic novel and it's a must read of any fan of Peter Pan. The Wonder Woman rebirth comic is a great starting place for anyone new to Wonder Woman and I will definitely be recommending it to library patrons new to comics 😊

What a beautiful Book! A graphic novel retelling of Peter Pan in an incredibly heart-breaking way. The art is stunning, with a contrast between real-world pen and Neverland watercolor. Truly a lovely reading experience.

This novel was beautiful! The pictures were awesome the story made me really sad for liking Peter Pan but I enjoyed it.

I also didn't realize how quickly one could read a graphic novel.

Read this last night. A very interesting take on the classic Peter Pan. Quick and interesting read. I wasn't blown away by it but enjoyed it. Curious to read other works by this author.

If crying in the faculty lounge during your lunch break sounds like a good time, this might just be the book for you...
Seriously though, this was beautiful. The artwork was absolutely gorgeous and it was a touching Peter Pan story reimagined as a teenage girl processing her grief after the death of her little brother.

I happened upon this by chance at the library and I was very pleasantly surprised. These pictures don't begin to do it justice, but suffice it to say, the artwork is absolutely beautiful, and the story very touching and well told. A great reimagining of Peter Pan, I would highly recommend it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#neverland #peterpan #graphicnovel #comic

The Wendy Project is a modern day Peter Pan retelling with simply breathtaking illustrations. It's a little bittersweet, yet still leaves you with a smile in the end. #NetGalleyReads

This was a touching, distinctly darker reimagining of Peter Pan. The art style was so unique for a graphic novel, in the style of a beautifully illustrated sketch book. What I think this did really well was balance the heavy subject matter with the whimsy of the original story: it never felt silly or depressing, but instead it spoke to real human experience. I found the ending to be a bit rushed, but it was a beautiful and moving book.
