As an #audiobook listener (about 50% of the books I read), I appreciate a psychologist backing up that yes, listening to a book is different from reading it in print in some ways, and no, it is not cheating and does indeed count as reading the book. 😊👍

Shannon_McKinney Interesting read! I as of late have started to listen to audiobooks. In the past I couldn‘t “get into them.” Lately I‘ve listened to quite a few and enjoyed them greatly. Mostly because of having such a busy schedule as a stay at home mom, and homeschooling my oldest! There is no “lunch break” for me, so an audiobook is easy to listen to while cleaning or laying in bed at night. 6y

Sitting in my car with my book for a bit longer today, since I came to the school early to see my oldest rewarded for meeting his reading goal for the first quarter. It's not a hard feat for my reader kid, but still proud of him.

AmyG I agree. I will also say that it does so much for seniors to give back, socialize and be around children. 6y

Gina @AmyG Yes! There is a village in Sardinia where almost everyone lives to over a hundred. They say it's because they do not segregate the old from the young and that they often go to the older generation for wisdom. It is a model we should all follow in my opinion. 6y

Robothugs @Smangela I'm not really sure if the lotion was meant for a grown up. It seemed to me it might be. It isn't a kid-friendly scent... but my niece likes it so I gave it to her. This is the first time I got this for her, so I'll see next month and let you know! 7y

Smangela I actually have a friend's little one's 2nd birthday party next week! I'm thinking I just found what I'm getting her haha I'd imagine the older the kids get, the more likely it is they'll like the added item 😂 7y

As a third grade teacher I tell my students this all the time. Most of them think they don't like reading and it just kills me! Anyone else get frustrated explaining how great reading is to non-readers?

JillR I'm not a teacher but get very frustrated when other parents say their children don't like reading, as though that is something that can't be fixed... keep looking for the right books! Graphic novels always seem to work for my son when he thinks a book is too "difficult" for him, ditto comics x 7y

This is another post for #jennasfinalproject. My mom started to teach me to read when I three. By four, I was all set to go. That means I've been reading for 48 years. There's hardly a day that I'm not reading some type of book. @pocketmermaid

pocketmermaid It seems that moms have been coming up a lot in these posts. So many moms are responsible for getting their kids to read, mine included. 😀 8y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @pocketmermaid I was thinking just now that my mom wasn't the voracious adult reader in my house. It was my dad. My grandmother, aunts and uncle were / are too. But mom taught me to read. 8y

GabrielleDubois But I can remember when I first knew how to read. Really! I remember I read an advert in the street, and suddenly I realized I could read all I wanted, not just what the teacher told me to. It's been like if I was blind and suddenly recovered the view for the first time! It was... 44 years ago, but it's still so clear in my mind! 8y
