I liked the characters but it was a pretty long book for having a thin plot and not much mystery. The disjointed narrative didn't work for me either.

I love this dysfunctional family. And the book is a perfect accompaniment for crafting.
This took a little bit to get into the flow of the style of writing but when it clicked, it was such a funny read. I was laughing out loud every few pages and enjoyed it greatly!
This was on a list of best audiobooks so I went in with high expectations to this story of a dysfunctional private inspector family and their shenanigans. It didn‘t quite live up to its review for me, but still a fun listen, and short at 6 hours. That ending though - it packed a punch that I didn‘t expect.

Doubling up today.
I love this quirky series about a family of private detectives, where the mom #Meddles in her oldest daughter's life hoping that she #Marries before she's an old maid. 😁
The Spellman Files is actually my go-to-sleep book, not my walking book — I‘m still listening to How to Read Novels Like a Professor, but I thought I‘d give you a different cover to look at. I‘m enjoying this book but I find it easy to get lost and not know what‘s going on when. #audiowalk

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 I've had this book on my tbr shelf for so long that it's a little dated now. That's ok cause I still enjoyed Isabel and her quirky family of PI's. Snarky good fun.
This was a fun romp! Lots of quirkiness and humor, admittedly at little over the top at times. The Spellman‘s put the D in dysfunction in a charming perverse way. 😁
Climate change is real: it is crazy that I need to wear a sweatshirt outside at the end of August.
Happy #nationalredwineday🍷the blurb on this book say it‘s a grown up version of Harriet the Spy, and I suppose that‘s true. Isabel Spellman and her extended family own and operate a PI business. They appear to be quite successful at it while being completely dysfunctional as a family. There are quite a few twists and laugh out loud moments. I‘m thinking I have a new series to read
Giggling and snorting last night thru the first few chapters, enough that my husband commented. 😝 I love quirky characters & settings and this seems to fit the bill so far. 🤞🏾🤞🏾
So far this is the second audiobook I've listened to by Lisa Lutz & so far I'm loving it.
Here‘s my Day 2 #adventrecommends:
These are a few of the Spellman books by Lisa Lutz. There are six books in the series, and some extra-Spellman books as well. I found these tremendously funny...like laugh-out-loud funny...like laughing-in-the-middle-of-reading funny. We‘re supposed to post our favorites, right? Well, if you like funny dysfunctional families who work as P.I.s, you‘ll love this series!
@emilyrose_x
Spent some good quality reading/cuddle time with this little girl today. #lennox #catsoflitsy
Thanks for the tag @RebelReader
1. The Spellman files books especially on audio- sadly finished the last of the 6 this past fall so looking for another!
2. I am currently loving rewatching Deadpool prior to #2 but don‘t tell anyone...
3. Mac n cheese- see 2 above
4. @britt_brooke @JoScho
Fictional family of dysfunctional detectives. I was so hooked to this series esp with Izzy Spellman that I completed all the books within weeks!
#ReadingResolutions
The Spellmans are one of my favorite #fictionalfamilies. Super funny and totally dysfunctional. #ReadingResolutions
Finished this one over the weekend on audio. Quick and cute. 2nd of the series is waiting in the wings. 🤗
I so miss this series! I want more. It‘s been four years since number 6 in the series came out (my copy is called The Last Word, which was worrisome and seemed to wrap up most of the loose ends). I still hold out hope. #six #Novemberbythenumbers
This was a great book. I really enjoyed this story. It was fun and silly and hilarious. I have been trying to read this book all year and finally was able to settle down and read it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
#Hat | #AugustLibrary17 | #TheSpellmanFiles by #LisaLutz | Look 👀 at that #detective 🎩 (hat) on the cover!
Izzy Spellman works for Spellman Investigations, a family-run private detective agency. Invading people's privacy comes naturally to the Spellmans, but when Izzy's parents hire her sister to investigate her new boyfriend, Izzy decides to quit.
This is the best family ever! One of my favorite series, and I so hope she writes more. Tip: don't read these as ebooks. There are so many hilarious footnotes and you want them at the bottom of the page! #Augustgrrrl #familyaffair (Thanks @Cinfhen , now the song is stuck in my head).
Socks and #shoesoncovers, ha! I adore all Parkes' knitting books, and the other was a random library find. Library to the rescue! Anyone read it? #jubilantjuly
This book made me laugh out loud & had a few jaw dropping twists. I loved every second. Isabel reminded me of a stoner Veronica Mars & I can't think of a better heroine for a mystery book. I can't wait to jump into the next book!
Loving this book so far!! Perfect for a hang in the shade ❤️
What a strange ending--this is a novel, not a mystery. But it's masquerading as a mystery so convincingly that the ending took me by surprise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I put this one down for a long time, and I'm so glad I picked it back up. It's a good night for some hilarious familial dysfunction.
100 pages in and utterly hooked on this dysfunctional family of private eyes. (I'm generally drawn to anything where the POV character(s) thinks in lists.)
Please excuse the crappy lighting and the hideous carpet of my childhood bedroom. Also, this post is super late. #RainbowBookStack #17RainbowBooks
Charming! I was so glad to discover that this is a series!
Some light reading to start off February, because the January books were dense and tough and they made me cry and want to pull my hair out. 👍🏼 #detectivestoriesarethebest #iwishiwereapi #lightreads #februaryreads
Quick read, and made me want to binge read the rest of the series.
Recommding today the sort of book I'm in the mood for: fast paced; humor well done; with a bit of dysfunctional family thrown in. AND ... if it rings your 🔔, there are five more in the series!!!
The Spellmans epitomize dysfunctional family. But I love them dearly. More, Lisa Lutz, more! #dysfunctionalfamily #photoadaynov16
A family of private investigators who often investigate each other. Full of quirky people & funny situations. #dysfunctionalfamily
