Taking a walk through childhood lane
Taking a walk through childhood lane
Finally got to visit the real Pooh and friends at the NYPL. 🍯
It's been a while since I reall all of the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, and I loved this re-read! Eeyore, for all his gloominess, will always be my favorite 🌧💙

Kaysen Emory is 7 years old as Christopher Robin from Winnie-the-Pooh ❤️
#OnThisDay in 1926 A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh was first published. Inspired by Milne's son Christopher Robin and a female black bear from Canada, the book was an immediate success. Christopher Robin Milne's original stuffies which inspired Pooh and his friends were donated in 1987 to the New York Public Library. After the real Winnie passed, they found evidence of severe gum disease, likely from the honey buns fed to her by fans #HistoryGetsLIT

#Kindness
All the characters in this book are kind, especially Christopher Robin.
Another day, another library. Today Hove Library, which has a lovely, mindful, Winnie the Pooh quote.
Ummmm, anyone remember that Christopher Robin SHOT Winnie the Pooh with GUN?!!! I am listening to the fireside chat version (which reads from an unabridged version of the book) and OMG!!! I remember in the animated show it was a sling shot...wasn't it?
Pooh has a rifle when he is scared of the huffalumps, but I don't remember CR EVER SHOOTING POOH with a GUN?
Anyone else? Am I just blanking out a big part of my childhood????
Oh my gosh, I hadn't read these stories in years and had forgotten how completely delightful they are. I absolutely love the whimsical storytelling and characters. And it also reminded me that while Disney usually butchers everything they touch, they got their original Winnie-the-Pooh just right.

Prompt: Mellow
Christopher Robin was the first character that came to mind. No matter what Pooh got into he was always calm and helpful.

The opposite of #Loud could be quiet or soft, and I feel that Pooh and Piglet fit both of those. 💞
I loved Pooh as a kid and now even more as a parent. I know my mom read the stories and poems to us, but I‘ve never read them myself. It was fun to see what was used in the movie, and how the characters changed. I have to say, especially in The House at Pooh Corner, Eeyore‘s kind of a jerk, which bothered me. Still, I‘m looking forward to sharing these with kiddo. I was disappointed to see my copy didn‘t include the poetry books.

One of my favourite Winnie the Pooh quotes.
"In which" reading a chapter of this each night with my daughter (she's 3) has become the best part of my day!
There was something very peaceful and magical in the hundred-acre woods. It‘s a place for discovery, where Pooh and his friends, and Christopher Robin explore and discuss life. Most important of all, #downinthewoods were the place where friendship ‘happened‘. 🌳 🌲

One of my favorite characters who fits the #MardyBum prompt is Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh books & movies. He‘s gloomy, pessimistic, & moody but pretty lovable too. 💜 Actually I am feeling like a mardybum today since I have to go to our company picnic & softball game & have forced ‘fun‘ when I really want to stay home & read.😞
“One fine day Pooh had stumped up to the top of the Forest to see if his friend Christopher Robin was interested in Bears at all. At breakfast that morning (a simple meal of marmalade spread lightly over a honey-comb or two) he had suddenly though of a new song. It begins like this:”
This book is so sweet and nostalgic, anyone would enjoy reading these stories. Winnie-the-Pooh is a classic story that is loved by so many people, and to read the stories of him and his friends is so fun. The little sketches on some of the pages are adorable, roo
““Piglet‘s bottle came floating past him, and with one loud cry of “Honey!” Pooh plunged into the water…””
I love how the sketches on the inside are much more free form than the artwork on the cover. It really helps me to connect with the author and the vision he had for the characters.
The elements of fantasy in this book are represented through animals having human like qualities. In real life animals aren‘t capable of showing an intense amount of emotion for one another. The author did a good job of making the story believable because they are in the woods working together as friends.
I love the little color of blue the author incorporates on the pages to add to the illustrations!
A modern animal fantasy that tells an enchanting tale of the famous bear, Winnie the Pooh. The enchanted forest of the Hundred Acre Woods is where Winnie the Pooh and his friends live. Pooh and his friends experience visits from Christopher Robin, a young boy who adventures into a world of talking animals. Genre: Modern Fantasy; Published: 1957; Illustrator: Ernest H. Shepard
I wanted to share the quote on the last page along with the picture because they perfectly represent the love and friendship in this story.
The simple sketches add meaning and beauty to the carefully crafted words.
This story was written in 1957 and published by the Penguin Group. I grew up on the messages and wonder that is perfectly portrayed in this modern fantasy. This is a story about everlasting friendship and trust.
This is a book that is a world of toys and dolls. It‘s about Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the first. They have a human friend named Christopher. Together Winnie the Pooh lives in an enchanted forest in the hundred acre woods and has many adventures with his friends.
First book I can remember physically being gifted 💕the illustrated version. I do still have - it‘s in my daughters bedroom though so I‘m not waking her to take a picture!

I‘ve always loved Winnie The Pooh, but this was the first time I ever listened to the audiobook. Such a treat.#! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Since I‘m listening to the audiobook of Winnie The Pooh, I thought I would also have some tea out of my Eeyore mug, and I would look through my Barnes & Noble leather bound book of Winnie The Pooh. And I‘ve also just remembered why I once named a teddy bear “Edward Bear” ❤️☕️
Since I picked this up for free last night on Audible, I thought I would listen to it today. Of course this is a reread, but I‘ve never listened to it before so I‘m fully expected to be delight by this. ❤️🍯
“Then Piglet saw what a Foolish Piglet he had been, and he was so ashamed of himself that he ran straight off home and went to bed with a headache.”
I am Piglet. Piglet is me.

Day 23 #riotgrams : I don't remember *not* having these books. I suspect that the two fairy tale books are truly the oldest. The Alice book is the only one dated—when I was 5. I dislike fairy tales, but keep the books for their sentimental value. #bookyouveownedlongest
