I cleared my bingo board!!!! I've never managed it before, and it's a good feeling 🥳🥳🥳 Also, the tagged book is exceptional (I just wish I'd made a cup of hot cocoa before reading it 🍫❤)

So good. Aventurine is a sassy dragon and human. And there's chocolate. 😍
Bookshelf by my bed with my current and soon to be read books. #ShelfieSaturday #ReadingResolutions
My #BookOutlet haul! I am seriously impressed every time I order from there. List price I would have spent $184, it only cost me $46 and most of these were already on my TBR list! #bookhaul #bookmail
#currentlyreading this middle grade fantasy about a dragon who discovers a man she's hunting is making a big pot of delicious-smelling hot chocolate. Unfortunately, when she devours it instead of him, it turns her into a human girl, and now she has to figure out how to turn herself back AND get more of this delicious chocolate...
This is the MOST adorable book, y'all.
"It was almost too much happiness to contain. But I was a dragon and a girl, and I was strong enough for all of it."
Has the makings of a great mantra. ??
A young dragon is unwittingly transformed into a human girl. This fills her with a fiery rage until she tries chocolate for the first time. 🍫The Kingdom comes to rely on her to save it from certain destruction. Where do her loyalties lie?
The story centers around 3 female characters; all are strong, stubborn, passionate, & supportive. Each refuses to quietly accept her lot in life. Each makes mistakes - & admits to them! Passes the Bechdel Test.
"Dragons would never choose to live together with thousands and thousands of other creatures, with no space to spread their wings or roar out a claim on a real, open territory of their own. Didn't anyone here want room to breathe?"
I love that the author, Steph Burgis, clearly identifies more with dragons than she does with people. ? I follow her on FB & adore this drawing she shared: an alternate cover for her book drawn by her 6 yr-old son.
Completely, utterly gorgeous MG - the best for this age group I read in 2016 - about dragons, chocolate, friends, family and finding your passion in life. I read this with a massive smile on my face right the way through, I adored Aventurine & new friend Silke. I'm left in awe of Stephanie after the ending - close to the end I couldn't see how she could wrap things up quickly enough but she pulled it off perfectly. An absolutely wonderful read!
THE DRAGON WITH A CHOCOLATE HEART by Stephanie Burgis is a charming, middle grade fantasy novel. It has a diverse cast and doesn't talk down to its readers. It will also leave you craving chocolate!
