I discovered The Current while on vacation in Minnesota. I really enjoy their programming, especially Teenage Kicks. Luckily I can listen online, so it's not a vacay only treat!

The start was a bit contrived and my expectations were low. However, after the premise was initially set, it got a lot better. There was some good, believable character development. Tolcser also did a good job writing a strong female lead with realistic flaws and strengths. Lots of watery language, but not in a cringey, punny way. The twist was hinted at well, but not completely obvious. A good magical, swashbuckling adventure! Recommend.
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 78.

I love the way the #moonlight looks over the water on this gorgeous YA book! It's hard to tell from the picture but the words are glittery silver! 😍

I really loved everything about this. The shiptalk, the narrative voice, the way issues were framed. It had a very consistent atmosphere and felt like every sentence was crafted to contribute to it.

The perfect cover with a full moon and song in the title.
Nope nope nope to many words that are not easily know. Ie sailor terms and just weird writing. Not invested in the story at all.
#FirstLineFriday: “There is a god at the bottom of the river.”
#Friday56: “‘Magic doesn't make a man evil,‘ he said. ‘It's just a skill. It isn't inherently good or bad. It's what's in his heart that makes him evil, the same as anyone else.‘”
The book with which I am starting 2019. 🎉
Maps.
I love books with maps.
(Except when I'm reading them on Kindle)
And then I went back to fantasies. And this one is very good!
#sarahtolcser #songofthecurrent
I‘ve had Song of the Current sitting on my shelf for almost a year and have decided to finally pick it up because the author, Sarah Tolcser will be at my local indie bookstore next Tuesday, signing the sequel and I plan on getting it. Better late than never, right? 😂

I realized I had never taken any photos with this awesome art of one of my characters my husband got for me 🖤.
Love the map in this book 💙.

Look at this great group of books from my bestest book friend @TracyReadsBooks 💕💕 I am eternally grateful to her as she not only is my book dealer (!), she also introduced me to Litsy!!❤️😘
This book was alright. It wasn't riveting and at the time of reading I could easily take it or leave it. The story had an interesting premise, but didn't hold me enough to read any further books, if in fact there are any. Although it does leave it open for more.
I'm rating it a pick though, as I still enjoyed reading nonetheless and I think a younger audience would enjoy.
Here is my physical book Wrap Up for August! The next two pics I post will be the eBooks & Audiobooks I also read/listened to in August.
I read 12 books, 3 graphic novels and listened to 4 audiobooks in August! Which I'm super happy with!
How much did you read this month? What was your favourite read of August?!
I read so many good ones! I can't choose between This Savage Song, Gentlemen's Guide & Upside of Unrequited!
Another #uppercase book and this one came with a map! (And it's gorgeous). I'm about 20 pages in and am feeling optimistic.
Enjoying a very much needed coffee this morning an my current read
I'm loving this map 😀
This book was a fun, action packed YA fantasy! The characters were amazing and I loved Tarquin's development! The romance was done well and I'm someone that doesn't like romance. The writing was really good and it had unique names that were still easy to pronounce. I loved that we had pretty good parents which is rare for YA fiction! Overall highly recommend to fantasy readers and lovers of Moana.

Thinking about reading this next...
Finished this fun debut fantasy novel by Sarah Tolcser today. If you like adventure tales with pirates, sea monsters, a little romance, and some interfering Gods this is the book for you. It's a light read with lovable characters. Being the first in a series it sets the tone and leaves you open for more at its end. I look forward to reading the next one.
Starting this lovely addition to a July of blue readings
Today's book haul from the HPB 50% off sale! 😍 #thesebrokenstars #songofthecurrent #bookhaul
Adventure,
Pirates,
Fighting,
A dash of romance and a kick ass female lead !
I adored this. Took me a little to get through but I think that's due to it being a crappy week. This was the #yachronicles book pic for the month of June

"Don't be in a rush for your fate to come a-visiting. It might not be what you expect."
I'm currently taking it easy and recovering from a small procedure that I had done. What better way to relax than reading in my favourite spot 💙

Only a few chapters in and I'm hooked !!
It's fast pacing , and I'm loving the characters already ❤️ #dogsoflitsy
This was an interesting book.
I feel like the plot was up and down and up and down which made the flow a little odd but I did enjoy it!
I liked all the family, friend and romance (slow burn) relationships...and the political and backstabbing...and the magic/gods
Excited to see where the sequel will go since Caroline has the Vix and political support/connections.
This is my seventh and last book of the #summerflingreads challenge! All done!
I'm officially on vacation!
I love anything related to mermaids, pirates, and sea life! Plus there's glitter on the cover so...
My last book for the #summerflingread in the category of Beach Read (we classified that loosely as a regular Beach read or one where stuff takes place in the sea or on the beach).
Feel free to join the Life & Lit Facebook book group. We're currently voting on the August book!
I cannot wait to read this. Got this baby in my Uppercase Box last month! #subscriptionbox #book #reading #books #reader
Completely forgot to post my unboxing for the June #yachronicles box !
The theme was Take to the Seas 🌊
And it included a letter from the author ❤️
The book sounds really interesting and I may have bumped it up on my tbr ☺️
Sweet and adventuresome river fantasy. My first Uppercase subscription book.
Not bad for a swashbuckling river rat. I saw the romance line and which god claimed her from early on. It is still a good read, plus the lettering is done in metallic/glittery silver. 😉
Pretty pretty cover to add to the collection! I'm on a binge collecting anything related to mermaids and pirates! The title is in glitter *deep sigh* so pretty
So excited for my first #yachronicles box! 💌
Has anyone else tried one of these subscription boxes? Do you have a favourite? 😊

I had gotten my June Uppercase Book Box on Monday, and it is truly AMAZING! The contents are so cute, especially the tote bag, which I use to transfer my library books😂.
This month's box was truly amazing, and I cannot wait for the July box!
