Starting my last book for the July #bookspinbingo 😁
I‘m only on page 30 and it‘s already fast paced. I hope that will continue! #ya
I didn‘t quite buy the romance, the hero wasn‘t very compelling. The mystery/intrigue parts got dull towards the climax rather than building up. I imagine a kid between 12-15 would like this a lot better than I did.
A gorgeous cover but a pretty average YA fantasy in my opinion. I think it was a first novel, which could explain the uneven pacing. The first half felt very slow and the end a bit anticlimactic. I'm also not in the mood for teenage angst and lack of communication about love.
My little book haul from Barnes today
This book was ordered September 25th. It was lost in the mail all this time. It's a little scuffed now but I was very pleasantly surprised to see it turn up finally. 😹
I‘m going with a pick for this, because even though I‘ve read more sophisticated YA, I think this has a Good story and characters. This is a pick for younger YA readers - the romance is innocent, but there‘s some violence. If your kids are ok with PG 13 movies this would be ok for a younger kid with advanced reading skills.
Action scenes and plot kept me going but the ending was meh, and if I had to hear one more time about how dreamy Cohen was...
"Bravery is a choice that is yours to make."
Cure for my audiobook hangover from The Belles...another great listen!
Thought I‘d join in with June‘s #ReadingResolutions! These are just a few of my #JuneTBR books. Hopefully I can tackle all of them this month! @Jess7
Happy Easter Litsy! :D
I always look forward to Easter. My family has a tradition of getting books on Easter and spending the day home reading and eating an unhealthy amount of chocolate. :)
Here‘s mine for this year, plus a bonus cameo of my ridiculously tiny dog who wanted to be in the picture.
"Our lives are, like these woods, ever changing. Nothing is static. And so you cannot count on an easy, carefree life to always remain that way. Or a harsh existence to stay the same. Life can get better. Or life can always become worse. And then you die. Don't reflect on the negative. Think about all the positives in your life." ~@erinsummerill Ever the Hunted
♥️
I read Ever the Hunted in a single day, I honestly don't think I even stopped to eat
I loved the ending! I can't wait to read book 2 and see where it goes from here.
This book was pretty good.
I think it might have been over hyped in my opinion.
I'll try the second book out to see if it gets better.
I know the first book in a series is focused on world building so I can't judge to strongly.
The characters are likable(alot of "ehh," moments).
I like where the story is going.
I didn't like the repetitive dialogue...
It wasn't a horrible book.
I Loved the colorful descriptions.???
I've wanted to read this for forever because I looooove the cover! It was.. ok. Grow a backbone, Britta. That is all.
Meeeeehhhhhhh. A friend of mine said this was "Fantasy 101" and I totally see what she meant. This felt pretty derivative and not unique in any way. The characters were mostly flat, though I did appreciate Britta being both tough and also having emotions. But she still felt kind of bland, and the story was so slow! The romance was too forced and IMO was unnecessary. I did like Enat and probably would've loved a book just about her, heh. 2/5 ⭐️
I've had this one for over a year and I don't remember what anyone ever said about it but it sounds like it could be fun! #nowreading
Loved. This.
On to the sequel I go!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
17 yr old Britta Flannery is at ease only in the woods with her dagger and bow. She tracks criminals with her father, a legendary bounty hunter, until her father is murdered. The alleged killer is Cohen Mackay, her father‘s former apprentice and the only friend she‘s ever known. She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad kings, and dark magic...
Britta‘s father was the King‘s bounty hunter until he was murdered. Britta, one of the best trackers in the kingdom, is tasked with tracking her father‘s suspected killer—his former apprentice Cohen. Of course, it‘s rather more complicated with layers of secrets, forbidden magic, looming war, & pesky feelings. Great for younger readers & if it isn‘t the most original story, it is nonetheless a well told, exciting adventure & an enjoyable read.
“Still, doubt has a way of making quicksand of stable ground.”
This is a quick read and I‘m far enough along now I decided to bring it home and not just read in between classes. Enjoying it so far and definitely appreciate the author writing not only what her characters are seeing but also what they are hearing and smelling. Seems obvious, I know, but authors don‘t always pay attention to all the senses.
Have a few minutes of quiet before the first class today so I have time to start reading a book just in to the library.
First, I love the cover! It is simply beautiful! 😍 Second, I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Summerhill at the RT Convention last May, and was truly impressed by her passion for writing and her love for her readers. 💖🍎
Now the book. This is a wonderfully crafted fanatasy of a girl seeking her father's murderer. I absolutely adore the heroine! She is smart, strong, and needs no one to save her. 😍
Can't wait to read this one! My daughter loved it!
~•~ DAILY DEAL ~•~
This is on my massive TBR list.
Ever the Brave comes out in December!!!
I'm so excited for Ever the Brave!

One of my favorite reads this year! I can't wait for Ever the Brave.
I have started this beauty!!!
Ever the Hunted is just what I was looking for. I love fantasy novels. I am always looking for a new world to immerse myself in. I really enjoyed Ever the Hunted.
.
The magic in this book was great. I do have to say that this book is a bit slow but I think that is because the character is traveling the whole time and Summerill is doing a lot of world building for the reader.

A pretty solid novel that was perhaps a bit lacking in the world building department.
Ich werde jetzt noch dieses Buch beenden bevor wir zum Frühstück gehen und dann weiter in "The lion, the witch and the wardrobe" lesen ❤

Finishing this up today! Total honesty: this was 100% a cover buy lol. It's gorgeous 😋 The story itself will please anyone hungry for more YA fantasy romance. For someone who's not, it doesn't feel particularly special compared to what else is out there. It's perfectly serviceable and well done if that genre is your jam though!
Eh. The same fantasy plot with a female lead as every other ya fantasy with a female lead.
So-so read, but still worth looking into. Lots of people I know love this book, I just think it had a lot of unexplored potential.
A fun fantasy adventure and romance, which is just what I needed for my Monday workday. #audiobook #mounttbr #boutofbooks
I'm at the RT Booklover's Convention. Just attended the book fair. I guess I was just in a YA mood!
I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but this is SO PRETTY 😍
