How‘s the Essen Tasch, @Elisa ? I‘m loving it! Also, the more of her books I read, the more I love Schwab‘s writing. I really like her style.
Sorry for not posting this sooner. ^^;

I really, really wanted to like this one.
This is my first Jane Yolen novel and I was loving every minute... until the ending.
It felt like what should have been another 60 pages was shoved into 10. The final reveal was abrupt, and the promised twist (not Arthur pulling the sword from the stone) was lackluster. I‘m glad I got this one for free.
If not for the sudden and confusing ending, this one would have been a pick!
What did you guys think?
Not a new release, but definitely #MostAnticipated for me!
I just recently started playing D&D with a group of friends and we‘re loving it, so I was overjoyed to finally get some shiny new copies of the three core rulebooks.
Many glorious battles ahead!
#ReadingResolutions @Jess7
Finally, a #RainbowStack for #ReadingResolutions ! Some unique books in this stack, plus a wire sculpture tree from a local Renaissance fair. Hopefully I‘ll catch up on #ReadingResolutions soon! @Jess7
“Yes, well...” Elend said. “I kind of lost track
of time...”
“For two hours?”
Elend nodded sheepishly.
“There were books involved.”
When is Elend not a #RelatableCharacter to book nerds? I mean, he brings books to parties!
Trying to catch up on #ReadingResolutions after my trip. Sorry for being gone so long- glad to be back! @Jess7
This series is definitely my pick for #UnderratedBook !
I love this steampunk YA adventure so much. It has a unique view of magic, technology, and politics that makes it a wild and fun ride. You guys definitely need to pick this one up- it‘s one of my favorites!
#ReadingResolutions @Jess7
Sorry for neglecting the #BuddyRead , @Elisa ! Here‘s the discussion post for Part 7. ^^ Hopefully Lila comes back around in this section...
Was too busy for #ReadingResolutions yesterday, so now I‘ll be playing catch-up. D: This beautiful middle grade deserves some #CoverLove- the design is stunning and I love it. The story is as good as the cover, too! @Jess7
This pairing for #BookandBeachTowel match strangely well! Magnus Chase is such a fun series. ^_^ #ReadingResolutions @Jess7
Some of my all-time favorite series and authors live on this shelf- it was supposed to be a curio cabinet, until all my books took over! ^^; Also note the mini shrine to Harry Potter, and the lucky bamboo plant. #ShelfieSaturday #ReadingResolutions
Thought I‘d join in with June‘s #ReadingResolutions! These are just a few of my #JuneTBR books. Hopefully I can tackle all of them this month! @Jess7
Discussion post for my #BuddyRead with @Elisa !
My thoughts are in the comments :)
I love the divider papers in the US edition. I could stare at those map sections all day. Wish there was a map of the Londons!
The end of this one kills me every time. Poor Wax.
Sanderson has a gift for plot twists. They surprise you even on a reread! My love for Wax, Wayne, and Marasi grows with every chapter, but Steris hasn‘t grown on me yet- hopefully she‘ll get more time later.
I do wish that the plot wasn‘t so centered on Wax, though. At times it feels like the other characters‘ stories all depend on Wax‘s. I hope this will change next book.
What did you guys think?
Loving this so far! Just got through Part One. Lila is amazing. Maybe a little intimidating... but amazing.
@Elisa How are you liking it?
Rereading this adventure with my kitty. She seems a little skeptical of Wax and Wayne... XD #catsoflitsy
Glad Litsy‘s back up!! :) I missed all of you Littens!
I‘m currently on vacation... and what‘s the first thing I do? Find the nearest Barnes & Noble! XD I bought a couple sequels I‘ve been waiting to read.
@Elisa I can start that buddy read now ;)
I don‘t have a lute to use in this picture, so I went with the next best thing- guitar :)
One thing I loved about this book was how it broke fantasy tropes. Kvothe tells his life story like it is- long, messy, morally grey, and full of change. There‘s little plot armor, besides Kvothe‘s own cleverness.
But... I didn‘t love Denna‘s character, and the book left me with more questions than I had when I started!
What did you guys think of this book?
Tiny #bookhaul from the local thrift store- I was so happy to find a copy of a book I‘ve been wanting to read for only a dollar!
The cover‘s a little warped, but it doesn‘t affect the inside ;)
Do you ever go thrift store book shopping? It‘s my weakness- that‘s how my TBR pile got so big! :,D
So, the first 250 pages of this book were TORTURE to read. The main character, Elloren, was a vindictive, naive pain as a protagonist.
And then we got a character arc. As soon as Elloren started growing, the book got good. Even the writing seemed to vastly improve later in the book.
If you read this one, don‘t DNF because of the beginning. The second half is great and totally worth waiting for!
Have you read The Black Witch? What did you think?
I really, really wanted to like this book.
I wanted it to be a nerdy adventure story, but I got a philosophy text. It seemed like it wanted to make you think deeply about technology, books, and the meaning of immortality, but it all just fell flat for me. The story was disjointed and felt too unrealistic for the setting, and the secondary characters were more interesting than the main. It was a pain to finish.
What did you think of this book?
Good book, good food!
Not pictured- The Name of the Wind has awesome red page edges. :D
Congratulations on 5,000 Litfluence @jwashreads ! Thank you for making this new Litten feel welcome :)
1. This isn‘t my shelf...
2. but it‘s an absolutely awesome one I saw at Powell‘s City of Books in Portland. I could‘ve lived in that bookstore forever, and it was my favorite part of my trip to Oregon ^^; I want to go back!
#jwash5k
Two of my TBR books are A Gathering of Shadows and Caraval! Thanks for the giveaway, and congrats again!
*~*~*‘Kell wore a very peculiar coat.‘*~*~*
After two DNFs in a row, it was nice to read something truly good.
I loved the writing style- brought me straight into the magical world of the Londons. The world was immersive, and I loved the characters. Lila Bard was one of the most unique characters I‘ve come across, and she grew on me as the book went on.
Would definitely recommend!!
Now I need the second book...
One of my all time favorite series! :D
Sanderson‘s fantasy novels are amazing and have so much depth to the world and magic systems, and plot twists that you won‘t see coming. Definitely would recommend!
Happy Easter Litsy! :D
I always look forward to Easter. My family has a tradition of getting books on Easter and spending the day home reading and eating an unhealthy amount of chocolate. :)
Here‘s mine for this year, plus a bonus cameo of my ridiculously tiny dog who wanted to be in the picture.
I liked this one! Maybe not quite up to The Lunar Chronicle‘s level, but definitely did not disappoint.
Superheroes, a cool future world, and lots of adventure, although I liked some of the side characters far better than the main. Overall, a good read, but not up to the par of The Lunar Chronicles.
Have you read this one? What did you think? Are you on the side of the Renegades or the Anarchists?
Hey, I‘m Aurys! New to Litsy, seems like a great community. I‘m excited to waste time on here ;)
Also excited to read these three I picked up over the weekend, but especially for A Darker Shade of Magic. Horimiya is a great romance manga, and The Serpent‘s Secret was an impulse buy- Indian Percy Jackson, with a female protagonist? Yes, please. You‘re never too old for good middle grade :)
