Went to Mohegan Sun for Easter. (Well not for Easter, but for a relaxing time away). Anyway, I listened to this lovely book in the hot tub and bath-tub :)
So well written! I really enjoyed it! I am surprised it was one I hadn't read before.

‘It was a dark and stormy night when Mary Crane glimpsed the unlit neon sign announcing the vacancy at the Bates Motel.‘
So glad I got around to rereading this. I forgot how well it was written through Norman‘s POV. Creepy.

I‘m a little late, but I haven‘t done a Litsy list/tag in forever and this is a fun one! My top 3 favorite villains are:
1. Norman Bates from Psycho
2. Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs
3. Mrs. Johnny Iselin from The Manchurian Candidate Thanks for putting this together!
#TLT #ThreeListThursday @dabbe
I've seen both movies-original much better-and an episode or two of the TV series.
I need to read this one day.

#tuesdaytunes Just how intelligent is artificial? Actually that question doesn‘t work. Here‘s this week‘s AI meets musicians meets literature. I asked for: Syd Barrett reading Alice in Wonderland; Marvin Gaye reading Spider-Man; David Axlerod reading The Bible; Patrice Rushen reading Men In Black; Bobbi Humphrey reading 2001 and Robert Fripp reading Psycho.

Day 5 #Blood. Well this was easy and this cover has always creeped me out. The stark white and red really stands out. @LiseWorks
My October reading will be chosen from this list of horror stories. I hope you can read my handwriting. I didn't know I was going to post it when I scribbled it.
@NataliePatalie
I loved this little novel. I've never actually seen the movie, but as it's a pop culture icon, I obviously knew the twist. I kind of wish I didn't, but it was still a satisfying and fun read. 🔪
Another creepy read. It's that moment when you learn the truth about his mother. A great read for #Scarathlon 16pts for #TeamSlaughter. 4*

Not quite a #RemoteInn but a remote motel ran by a dysfunctional loner definitely makes one of my favorite settings on both this book and movie.
Having seen the film countless times, this was the first time I've read the book and it still managed to be unsettling! The film is quite faithful to book except for the fact that the description of Norman Bates had me thinking more of Philip Seymour Hoffman than of Anthony Perkins. I was also surprised to see that Hitchcock changed the setting of the book from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area(where I grew up) to Phoenix, AZ.

“You aren't allowed to smoke. You aren't allowed to drink. You aren't allowed to see any girls. Just what do you do, besides run the motel and attend to your mother?“
“Oh, I've got lots of things to do, really.
I read quite a lot.
And there are other hobbies.“

On the surface Norman seemed "normal." ?
Well, the book was an extremely fast read, which I liked. I do wish however, that the book had more murders and more crazy twists like they did for the show. The show, in my opinion, was better and well thought out. The book was still a pretty good read and I enjoyed it.
Now that it‘s finally come in the mail, I‘m starting this bad boy! I LOVED the show based off of this book, Bates Motel. I learned a long time ago to watch the stuff before the books since the books are always better and I won‘t be saying they ruined it (the movie/show) the entire time 😅
I've always loved this movie, but never read the book. I was really impressed that knowing the movie so well that I still enjoyed reading this one. Although I knew what to expect, the writing is extremely well done and I became caught up in the story so much that at times I forgot I knew the outcome.

Please don‘t argue with me on this: Psycho is one of the best movies ever made. Not just one of the best horror movies, unless you want to argue it‘s a psychological thriller or a mystery.
This scene alone changed the course of movie-making, and Hitchcock took a big gamble with technique, a new genre, and he shocked movie-goers the world over.
I can‘t help but watch it every October (sometimes twice).

A great novel for Halloween season! Fluently to read and I admit that the movie adapted it very good. For Hitchcock fans this book is a good addition to the movie.
Especially the insights into Normans thoughts are impressive and go very deep into his psyche.

The semester is finally over and although research never ends, I'll finally have time to read without class work
This is one of the best mysteries I've ever read. It is very compact in its writing. There are no wasted words in it. There is not too much plot. There is no - nor a need for - filler. It even has a slight mystery at the end. With apologies for an odd way to put it - odd though being just right for a Robert Bloch mystery - it is exactly the right size. His language use is perfect as well. Robert Bloch earned his rep. He wrote quite well.

First movie watched for #Scarathlon! Hulu coming through with this documentary about Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho. Not one of my favorite Hitchcock films, but very interested to learn more about this movie. Check it out - 78/52: Hitchcock‘s Shower Scene (features lots of interviews with famous actors and directors).

I‘m not sure what I would do without audiobooks. I enjoyed listening to all six of the books pictured above.
Quick, creepy read.
You could almost feel sorry for Norman.
Classic!
📚 The Hot Zone or, more recently Dark Matter
🎥 Fight Club or watching Psycho (on TV) in a house by myself when I was in high school

Absolutely loved!! Perfectly executed with a great foundation for Norman Bates‘ character and his mother. Excellently creepy!
“If I told them what you did, mother, you‘d be in a home for The criminally insane!”
“Yes. Yes, that‘s probably where I‘d be...but I wouldn‘t be there alone.”
