I was in middle school when I discovered this book, and I checked it out several times from my school library. It led to a fascination with Egyptian history that has lasted my whole life. I reread it for RL bookclub, whose January topic is Childhood Favorites. It holds up! Still a great read.

I was thrilled to come across this at a library sale the other day. My husband has a doctor‘s appointment, so I thought I‘d revisit my childhood while in the waiting room!

I read this book in my childhood, couldn't remember the name for the life of me. Came across a tiktoker that was searching for books from their past. I described this book and they helped me.
Of course I had to buy it! On the back there are other adventures of different games... May collect #childmemoriesunlocked

I really liked this book when I was young, but I haven't read it in decades. I assume it might be kind of problematic today; has anyone read this lately? #WalkLikeAnEgyptian #WanderingJune

When I read The Egypt Game as a kid, I was quickly taken with its creativity and imagination. A few smart, curious girls building their own land of Ancient Egypt in the backyard of a local curio shop? I was SO in. I‘m a Sphinx. Not what I expected (I thought I‘d get “mermaid,” based on my affinity for the sea) but there‘s no arguing with this part of the description: “And really, why use one word when you could use ten?” 😂

I read this book in middle school (on my own, not as a requirement) and I absolutely loved it! For several years I could not find it because I had forgotten the title. A cou]let of months ago I found it in an old bookshop! Super excited! I definitely recommend this book. It's full of exciting adventure. :)

1) probably about 5.5-6yrs. Technically I was reading but books were not of my choosing (textbooks) thus I consider it a "fun-book slump."
2) Finished classes and started interning. All that time I had usually spent reading I could spend on reading what I wanted!
3) No. But if my mood requires a different genre I will switch to something else. Too much on my TBR list to re-read books.

I cannot believe this little nugget of literary #middlegrade gold eluded my childhood! I thought this was a wonderful story, filled with the adventures of #imagination and even a little neighborhood murder to keep things interesting. I loved how diverse the group of main characters was and this whole book threw me right into a giddy pile of #nostalgia from when I played my own version of an Egypt game!

Guyyyyssss....I used to play an "Egypt Game" when I was in grade school with one of my good friends!! I didn't know this book existed until I saw it on a list a couple of years ago and then it popped back up in Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library. I am having so much fun reading about these kids' version of their Egypt game and reminiscing about my own childhood!! ❤️❤️#currentlyreading #childhood #love #nostalgia

#riotgrams Day Eleven: Favorite Children's Book. I was obsessed with this book when I was younger. I love Egypt and learning about ancient cultures in general. This book even led to me listening to a college course by Prof. Bob Brier at the age of 11. I read this so much in 3rd grade, that my teacher gave me her classroom copy. (Also, check that diverse group of MC. Pretty good.)

Just read this book with the kiddos at the kids book club I run at the library. Seriously did not like this. I've liked all the books we read so far, except this one. Very boring in my opinion. The kids thought so too.

I love that feeling of recognition when you come across a book you read as a child. Today it was Zilpha Keatley Snyder's THE EGYPT GAME!
