"It was a whisper at first. But then we knew. Black cats were disappearing. Silktail was the first. Then Whiny, Giuseppe, Rameses, Blackie, Lothario, and Bijou" Island life had been good for the street catsstealing fish, laying in the sun, singing under the stars. This is the story of dark deeds, cool cats, and The Society of the Superstitious. Get your paws on it! Eugene Trivizas, who has been called the "J.K. Rowling of Greece," is the winner of many national and international prizes. He is the author of more than a hundred books, including an acclaimed collaboration with Helen Oxenbury, The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.

This was my last (most recent) black cat, Jack. He died about 4 years ago. He only lived with us for 6 months, but I feel honoured to have given him a good ending. He was ill the whole time he was with us.

This book is funny, sad, and fierce; an allegory of how society can be manipulated by its own prejudices.

“‘Alie is a lie, no matter how many people believe it. Put that into your head. It isn‘t so difficult to grasp.‘

‘A lie that everyone believes is no different from a truth. It‘s got exactly the same consequences and the pain it causes you is real enough! In other words, a forged truth is no different at all from a real lie.‘”

I‘ve been sooo good recently, but this was yesterday‘s charity shop #BookHaul . I was obviously drawn to black and red books yesterday. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Has anyone read any of these?

I'm equal opportunity on #cats&dogs, but I totally picked up this book on my last trip because of my kitty at home. How could you not love such a ridiculous animal? #octphotochallenge

DragonSadhana Your cat has a face on his belly. 😱😈 8y
Larkken @DragonSadhana I'd say it was a trap, but he actually loves belly rubs 😍 8y

Eugene Trivizas is one of my favorite authors! This book is full of his unique way of writing. It delivers a great anti-racist message!
