Killing For Company
Killing For Company | Brian Masters
11 posts | 12 read | 8 to read
On February 9th 1983 Dennis Nilsen was arrested at his Muswell Hill home, after human remains had been identified as the cause of blocked drains. Within days he had confessed to fifteen gruesome murders over a period of four years. His victims, all young homosexual men, had never been reported missing. Brian Masters, with Nilsen's full cooperation, has produced a unique study of a serial killer's mind, revealing the disturbing psychology of a mass murderer.

By the time my hot chocolate had cooled enough to drink, the bright colours were gone and I was left with a shade of water that complimented my mug and tattoos. I am loath to get out of the bath now...too much effort.

This one was a really good one! When it was dissolving, it reminded me of the everlasting gobstopper in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with bright chunks of colour sticking out. Little satellite discs of colour came off it and made bright circles of bubbles all over the water. So cool! Lush‘s Christmas Pud (I think!)

I‘m feeling pretty miserable today. Should be working, but I‘m just sitting under my heated blanket, doing very little. I think this afternoon is just going to involve sitting with this little fiend and listening to true crime.

AmyG I hope you feel better. 4y

No idea how this didn‘t give me nightmares as this was one SICK MOFO. I knew nothing about Nilsen but heard there was an ITV series with David Tennant so bought this for 99p. Masters had regular access to Nilsen in prison and provides extensive first person accounts of his crimes. This was absolutely fascinating but not for the faint of heart. 🤢

Prairiegirl_reading Not for me in 2020 or anytime soon! I need light and fluffy these days! Lol 4y
MicheleinPhilly @Prairiegirl_reading For some odd reason murder has been my go to throughout the disaster that is 2020. I have no idea why. But now I‘m thinking of taking it down a notch and reading Harriet the Spy or something. 4y
Prairiegirl_reading @MicheleinPhilly I‘m having trouble finding anything I can settle into. Again. Everything is annoying or disturbing in some way. 😕 4y

MicheleinPhilly @Prairiegirl_reading I don‘t know how much reading I‘ll be doing over the next week. When I‘m not working I feel like I‘ll just be curled up in the corner with a box of wine nursing my anxiety. 4y
LeahBergen Yeah, I‘m going to need this. 👍🏻 4y

🚧 If you‘re not a true crime fan: Warning. Disturbing book description. 🚧
This is about a serial killer from the U.K., Dennis Nilsen. The book begins with the end, his arrest, which only came about bc his victims' body parts backed up his neighbors' plumbing after months of flushing them bit by bit down the toilet.
He begins his bizarre killing spree in the #1970s.

So I am feeling like a bit of murder lately so tell me what books would you recommend for real life murderers and the crimes they committed.

Gina This book is written by Ann Rule who was a friend and a co-worker as Suicide Hotline with Bundy. She was a writer investigating stories before she wrote the book. She also got an associate of Arts degree in police Sciences. I've heard this is a banger of a book and it's still on my TBR 6y
