This one helped me check off several BINGO squares (ebook, award winner, nonfiction, recommended by library staff - bonus!). This was a very interesting book, and I will definitely recommend it, though the jumping around timeline threw me a bit.

I loved this story and am a new fan of these authors (their stand alone stories, anyway...haven't done the Beautiful series). I have four more weeks at home with my new baby girl and am just getting over a case of baby blues. I need recommendations for light, funny romances. Help!!
This is how the book opens. I'm going to love this one so much, that I'm kicking myself for starting it close to 10:00 pm! 🙄
1. Hoping for a light, charming read following my recent, heavier books.
2. Hmm...either the police chase in our rural 4,000 person town, or the cattle truck overturning, closing the interstate.
3. Please, Universe, let me squeeze in at least a mini-Readathon this weekend! 🤞
4. What do you get when you cross an elephant and a rhino?
....elephino!
5. Fun! I'm a big fan of corny/Dad jokes. 😉

This book! Okay, I know logically not everyone can like every story, but I just shook my head while skimming the reviews at the few "so-so" decisions out there. I was bad and read some reviews prior to reading the book, so I was geared to not like one of the characters. But guys! Tayari Jones does an amazing job capturing so many of the feelings amidst such a horrible (and sadly too real) situation! Read this book!!!
1. Association for Rural and Small Libraries!
2. Only recently...
3. Absolutely (thanks, Litsy, lol), and not just personally but for my library, too, haha.
4. Still slowly working my way through the tagged book. I didn't realize there was controversy until after I started it, so I'm analyzing more as I read, and it's a busy time in my life. Plus, I don't get as far reading an actual book compared to an e-book.
@Chellebearss
Great meeting juvenile author Angela Cervantes today!
1. Female, probably. I honestly hadn't thought about it until this question.
2. 8
3. Orange
4. Blue
5. James Patterson, though I suppose I will break down and read one soon. ;)
6. Same

A lighter read, but it still made me think about relationships, selfishness and slippery slopes. It was funny, rude, and occasionally ridiculous, and I'm looking forward to talking about this in our book club later this year, especially so we can call out the racism that occurs a few times. Also, I live within an hour of the setting, which is always fun. :)
I can't say I enjoyed this book, since there wasn't much to cheer about, outside the scientific advances. It did give me another view into the importance of ethics - for scientists, journalists, and everyone, really. This read was a stretch for me. I love nonfiction, but rely heavily on the human interest aspect to get me through some of them.
Where's the love for Elvira (both here and in the story!)? What a great transformation of a character in horrible conditions. It was impossible for me to not root for her. :)
This book is absolutely adorable. After following it up with The Cafe by the Sea, I am absolutely enchanted by Jenny Colgan. I think she might be my new go-to for a nice, light read.
Not a bad story, but what was with starting so many sentences with "And..." Is this normal for DS? It was so distracting! Am I an emerging book snob? ?
Excellent writing; it was completely captivating and heart-wrenching. Did it send anyone else online to try to stalk the family for verification/more information?
