I‘m completely smitten with the cover of my new book, releasing 1 January 2019. What do you think?

My seat back is upright and my personal items have been stowed. Except for this book which, along with my adult beverage, I will keep tightly clutched in my greedy little hands. #newrelease #randomhouse Thanks to @ChrisBohjalian ! On sale 13 March. #suspense #mystery #whodunit
Delighted that The Historical Novel Society made All the Best People an Editor‘s Pick!

Reading this was such a pleasure especially because I'll be sharing the stage with Marita at Fall for the Book on 13 October. The topic: The Legacy of Memory.

Oh, Jane. The classic over thinker. #icanrelate #classic #cerebral #lotsofwords #lovelovelove
Anyone in Boston with a free evening? I'm reading at Porter Square Books tonight at 7 pm. #booktour #litsyfriends #newrelease #newengland #boston
A few chapters and a glass of wine to wind down from back-to-back book tour events. Not in love with this story yet but will give it time. #authorlife #booktour #kindle #booksandwine
My tribe. @theladygreer hanging out with me at @FountainBookstore hosted by the fabulous Kelly. We fielded questions from a very engaged audience and expounded (at perhaps too great length) on the use of real historical events in fiction. Lovely evening! #booktour #richmond #booktalk #histfic #allthebestpeople #girlindisguise
Started this the other day and find myself so eager to get back to it. The writing is superb and the creep factor is rising. Love it! 💕📚
I was captivated until about halfway through when the narrative slowed and the plot twists I hoped for never appeared. The ending was abrupt but that wouldn't have bothered me if the rest of the journey had been more interesting. Dude can write, though! #suspense #mystery #sociopaths
About a third through and completely absorbed so far. French hasn't put a foot wrong other than overwriting the prologue. Any others of hers anyone would recommend? #suspense #cops
A girl who lives near a lake never learns to swim. This seems so unlikely to me and yet the mystery of it is interesting. I'm not swooning over this story, but I'm intrigued.
You might be tempted to conclude that this is a frog eat frog world. 🐸 #vabookfest #animals #naturalhistory

Reading this one for a panel I'm moderating at the Virginia Festival of the Book later this month. It's been likened to Friday Night Lights which helps me not at all since I haven't watched it!
Awestruck by the giant kauri trees in #NewZealand as beautifully described by Proulx. A sad chapter in this country's history. #travel #logging #fiction #greatreads
#NewZealand is having a rather cool, wet summer, so we were lucky to have this gorgeous day for a #hike in Queen Charlotte Sound. #travel #hiking
Otago peninsula on a glorious day! #travel #newzealand
An unusual take on the destruction of a German Jewish family. Fast-paced and insightful, and Simmons does not reach for the easy ending.
Possibly the best WWII book I have read and I have read a lot of them. Emotionally nuanced, unflinching and never sentimental.
When you turn your book in to your agent, have a celebratory beverage and finally get to think about the adventure that starts in a few days. #cheers #travel #reward #newzealand #adventure
One of the books from the panel I'm moderating at the Virginia Festival of the Book. Anyone else pick up this one? #contemporary #fiction #fearofflying
I'm moderating two panels at the Virginia Festival of the Book, one fiction and one non-fiction. Ackerman's book is the one I'm most looking forward to. Love me some corvids! #festivals #vabookfest #animalbehavior #birds
Liz, the main character, is setting off on a 220-mile hike, but this is a fair summary of the attitude of Dante, her boyfriend. How far would you hike for love? #adventure #lovestory #hiking #notcamping
I love the adventurous writing but had to put this down for a while. Maybe I need a long day of reading to get into it....It's me, not the book!
Fennel pho, my first recipe from BOWL. Delicious!
"This is the strange life of books that you enter as a writer, mapping an unknown territory that arises as you travel. If you succeed in the voyage, others enter after, one at a time, also alone, but in communion with your imagination, traversing your route. Books are solitudes in which we meet."
"Hiking's not for everyone. Notice that the wilderness is mostly empty."
Happy New Year! Giving away two signed advanced copies on my Facebook page. @BerkleyPub Good luck!
