1. Goodish. Physically well but mentally/emotionally all over the place.
2. Always bad. I've been an insomniac pretty much all my life.
3. As a kid to YA, I walked/talked in sleep, so I can't take Rx sleep meds. Ive tried every otc/home remedy & nothing worked. The sleep clinic suggested cannabis & it works. My husband tells friends I take 2 hits & pass out in 5 minutes. It really is the only thing that works.

@Kerrbearlib

TheBookHippie I‘ve never slept either. Life long struggle. 10mo

Hell, yes. It's such a feeling of relief after a couple meh graphic novels or novels or non-fiction books to read a GOOD one. That being said, this volume comes with two caveats: 1) The nature of The Spectre, as well as the theme of the overarching plot, had some heavy religious overtones. To my atheist ass that just reads as supernatural fiction, but if it's likely to bug you, be warned. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? 2) While it does not appropriate the history, culture or beliefs of any specific Indigenous group, only alludes to “destroying an entire people to settle“ Gotham, genocide of a native population is also a theme. I don't have an issue with the it was handled, but I can't speak for how others will encounter this plot. 1y
Robotswithpersonality 3/3 On to the good stuff! I found this because I was seeking out Ben Templesmith's art, and I was greatly rewarded. I also adore a ragtag bunch up against paranormal forces, with a somewhat grizzled detective. The woven-in back story flashbacks gave just enough info. The part where Batman is basically a minor character drawn in a somewhat creatchur style in a book with Gotham in the title just makes me giggle. Already borrowed the next volume. 😁 1y

This is an interesting concept: a modern FBI agent is stolen and taken to a steampunk world where, upon freedom, she becomes a police detective there. Her partner is a lovable curmudgeon in awe of her. There are some holes (like vocabulary of the supporting characters) and weirdness (they have mostly the same food as we have) but overall it‘s a charming story. #pop23 #authorwithsameinitials

Sleepy Sunday morning and I‘m trying to find my motivation with this fun audiobook.

The conventional plot structure again didn‘t exist in this gay action-romance—which, again, didn‘t bother me one bit. What bothered me was the villain copy-pasted off Hannibal Lecter (sans his cooking obsession and his name because that would‘ve been TOO OBVIOUS…) If not for that (and one nasty torture scene) I would‘ve given it solid four stars.

It still was an enjoyable read (mostly). I liked the dynamic between the lead and his partner.

3.5/5

Have you ever wished you could re-cover a book? When I was a teenager, I wished I could redo the cover of this book. I really hated this cover and thought the amulet featured in the book would have made a better cover than these poorly edited fiercely sculptured male bodies (can you see the dark lines tracing their muscles?). Granted, this isn't the best book. It desperately needed more editing for basic typos! #BadCovers #LGBTQ

PuddleJumper That is some strategic lighting 4y
Kenyazero @PuddleJumper I'm not convinced that it is/was a lighting strategy or problem 😂 (edited) 4y

I love this book! The first in a series, FBI agent Jamie is magically taken from Earth to another world where stuff happens. I don‘t want to spoil anyone so I‘ll just say that I re-read this - and it‘s sequals - repeatedly. 5/5
