Hubs took the kiddo to a ball game so I could log more reading time. (He's pretty great, not gonna lie.) Loving the summer #24in48!

Beautiful day, beautiful spot to switch to a new book.

Some of us are super excited about a readathon.
Some of us just want snacks. 😂
Kicking off the summer #24in48 with an ARC of the newest Laura Lippman novel, Lady in the Lake. Off to a great start!
#readathon #mysterynovels
Off and running for today! No way I will make 24 hours of course but it's fun to get in some dedicated reading time.
Next up is this hot thriller due out in January. Look at that tag line! Squeeeeeeeee!

Thanks to Hubs for driving us home from a fun night with friends, so I can get in a little audio book time! 7 hours and counting. #24in48 #readathon #audiobook #2017reads
Morning means chai and a librarian romance. Heading toward 4 hours reading time with book #2! #24in48 #readathon #romance #2017reads
Probably the best author bio I've ever read, and a great reflection of the whole book.
On to the next! #24in48 #readathon #essays #2017reads
Apparently my current reading mode is incredibly moving, gut-punch memoir. First Sherman Alexie, now Roxane Gay. I can't say enough about this soul-baring, heartstopping read. Five-star amazing. #memoir #2017reads #nonfiction @HarperCollins
J Courtney Sullivan just gets better and better. If you're looking for a well-drawn family drama with fantastic characterization, you can't go wrong. Thanks @penguinrandomhouse and Edelweiss for the ARC!
Soccer practice for the kid = reading time for Mom! #2017reads #teenfiction #debut #diversebooks
New Meg Gardiner novel coming in June! Sooo creepy, so awesome. Thanks @penguinrandomhouse for the ARC!

"Luminous" may be a little on-the-nose, but nevertheless...These women were incredibly brave.
Thanks @Sourcebooks for the ARC. Loving it so far.
TFW you're trying to read but you have to keep tabs on the spider...

Finished #24in48 last night with 17:35! Not too shabby for my first time out. It was so fun to devote big chunks of time to reading over two days. (Probably helped that the kiddo was building LEGOs all weekend! 😉)
Finished off by starting this thriller recommended by Nancy Pearl. So far, it's gruesomely terrific.

15 hours down of #24in48! Would never have made it without this great audiobook. Even got to make cookies while I'm reading! #24in48 #readathon #audiobooks #2017reads
12 hours of #24in48 done! About to finish this one, then decide what's on deck next. My reading buddy is holding strong. 😊

#24in48 tally today: 10:06! I won't make 24 but it definitely has been great to spend the day with Moonglow. Somehow this is my first Michael Chabon book, but it won't be my last.

Passed hour 7! Switching it up with a graphic novel that's been on my shelf for a year...Loved it! #24in48 #readathon #graphicnovel #girlpower
Four and a half hours in! Working my way through Moonglow, with a few audiobook breaks in between. New vocab word here: "fantod: a state or attack of uneasiness or unreasonableness".
#24in48 #readathon #librarybook
And I'm off! Getting a late start for #24in48 Readathon but I've got one hour down. Michael Chabon is keeping me enthralled so far.
Still working my way, slowly, through The Handmaid's Tale. It's so raw in so many ways right now. This seemed particularly resonant this morning. #dystopia #2017reads #politics #resistance
Quiet, emotional, character-driven. A great pick if you loved Station Eleven. #2017reads #debutfiction #dystopia #catsoflitsy @penguinrandomhouse
Seems like high time I got around to reading this. #dystopia #orisitthough
Can't seem to get anything done today, and it's all the fault of Jane Harper & @flatironbooks. Another fantastic #libraryreads pick! #mystery #2017reads
Current family read-aloud selection. Gertie is absolutely hilarious and we are loving every line! #chapterbooks #readaloud #debut #middlegrade
This #ARC is Jasper-approved. #catsoflitsy #readerscopies #edelweiss @penguinrandomhouse
Post-holiday work re-entry done right. #2017reads #fiction
Truly extraordinary. A good reminder that we must always fight for equality, inclusion, decency. Can't wait to read book 2...this should be required reading for all citizens. #diversebooks #graphicnovels #memoir
Loving this novel of linked stories. Divakaruni gets the shifts in time and perspective just right. If you love Jhumpa Lahiri, I highly recommend this one. #diversebooks #libraryfinds
Snow day means time to read! @hmhbooks #debutfiction #diversebooks #libraryfinds
Digging into this intriguing 2017 read while the kiddo cuddles up with Rudolph. Perfect winter evening! @HarperCollins #libraryreads #debutfiction
Best way to start the morning... breakfast with a new book! This is a pick from @Liberty via the @bookriot All The Books podcast. Can't wait to dig in! #bookriot #newbooks #library
Kiddo is devouring the Zita books. He blew through this one in less than an hour! Highly recommended for young graphic novel fans. #kidlit #graphicnovel #girlpower
Beginning my 100th read of the year. #debutfiction #historical #goodreadschallenge
Off to a good start. #epigraph #debutfiction @HarperCollins
I know McFarlane is building up to something but I have no idea what. This is completely hypnotic...seems like the kind of book that lingers with the reader. If you've read it I would love to know what you thought.
#debutfiction #creepycover #cantstopreading #libraryfind
Amazing! This gritty, fast-paced story of a modern Sherlock Holmes was a knockout. Seems like Ide is setting it up for a series...I hope so, can't wait for more! #debutfiction #mystery #diversebooks
Saturday morning company while the kiddo swims. #debutfiction #libraryreads #diversity @RiverheadBooks
Ooh boy, am I conflicted about this one. I don't mind the movie-of-the-week quality of Picoult's work, but the subject of racism is tough. I had issues at several points, but reading her author's note, where she explains that she's writing it to enlighten white audience, gives me some perspective. Overall I would say that if you've never confronted racism in your own life, this could be a good starting point. If you have, your mileage may vary.
Character is one of the most significant aspects of a novel for me as a reader. Kathleen Donohoe does it up right in this gripping debut of six generations of firefighters' families. Such a terrific read so far. #debut #librarylove @hmhbooks
Honest, raw, emotional. I actually think I read this too quickly...there's a lot here to consider. Of course this is one perspective on a marriage, and I do wonder about the other side, but Melton is clear that this is her story of unbecoming. Powerful reading, indeed. #memoir #flatironbooks
"I wonder if everything we fear is somehow the same as the unmasking of Son of Sam. Maybe the things that scare us seem more powerful than they truly are when we keep them secret."
I recently realized I need to up my game when it comes to romance. I turned to @bookriot for recommendations (of course) and @sarahmaclean was at the top of the list. Holy cats! This book was so fun. I'm definitely reading more of her work, and soon.
Litsians, what other romance authors do I need to get on my TBR?? #romance @AvonBooks
This is how I do #SpookyOctober...with the always-fantastic Raina Telgemeier. She's at her best once again in this story of sisters and haunting happenings. Seriously, it doesn't even matter if you have kids or not...read Ghosts anyway. You won't be sorry. #graphicnovels #diversebooks #scholastic
"For the first time in my life, thinking was dangerous to my survival."
Fascinating memoir of a Korean American teaching elite students in North Korea. It's been a bit of a slow start but is getting more intense as Kim becomes more involved in the life of the school. #memoir
"Anything can happen on Halloween!" Oh yeah. ? #graphicnovels #middlegrade
Time to read while the kiddo is in the pool. Fascinating story so far. #memoir #momreader @Crownpublishing
Kiddo tore through this graphic novel this morning. "It is soooooo good Mom!" Love to see his enthusiasm for reading! #boysread #graphicnovels #firstsecond
