Finished #24in48 last night with 17:35! Not too shabby for my first time out. It was so fun to devote big chunks of time to reading over two days. (Probably helped that the kiddo was building LEGOs all weekend! 😉)

Finished off by starting this thriller recommended by Nancy Pearl. So far, it's gruesomely terrific.

Mehso-so

Ooh boy, am I conflicted about this one. I don't mind the movie-of-the-week quality of Picoult's work, but the subject of racism is tough. I had issues at several points, but reading her author's note, where she explains that she's writing it to enlighten white audience, gives me some perspective. Overall I would say that if you've never confronted racism in your own life, this could be a good starting point. If you have, your mileage may vary.

Honest, raw, emotional. I actually think I read this too quickly...there's a lot here to consider. Of course this is one perspective on a marriage, and I do wonder about the other side, but Melton is clear that this is her story of unbecoming. Powerful reading, indeed. #memoir #flatironbooks
