A sci-fi adventure about a girl who becomes a hero in a strange new world after her friend is kidnapped.

The lively art and engaging story empower young readers, encouraging them to embrace their adventurous spirit.
Finally got around to reading my first real graphic novel! I‘ve been meaning to read some, but felt I may have missed my window since they weren‘t available when I was a kid. I chose this one because my nieces and nephews love it. Very fun! Great character development and superb illustrations. I‘ll be reading more of Zita‘s adventures!
“I am One. I value my uniqueness. If there were more like me I would hope they were small and easy to destroy.”
This would be a great book to have in my classroom library for independent readers who like mysterious books with a little sci-fi.
Speculative fiction. Published 2011. This is a story about a girl, Zita, and aliens that abducted her best friend. Zita finds herself on another planet when trying to save her best friends. This is a very fun, exciting, and mysterious book for children in grades 3-6.
Zita's first interaction on the new planet were hilarious as an alien said a bunch of nonsense to her.
A book full of adventure! I loved going alongside Zita as she explores weird new planets trying to find her friend Joseph who was taken. Zita learns a lot on her adventure and it was fun to read along as she faces many challenges.
This book could also fit into the category of graphica with the illustrations and text bubbles. The supernatural elements make it into speculative fiction as well. Zita demonstrates bravery and goes off to save her friend after pushing a mysterious button that gets her friend taken away by aliens. The illustrations are minimalistic and follow a muted color scheme.
Zita has a best friend that got taken away by aliens, and Zita needs to rescue her. She sets off on her journey into the new planet to save her friend. There are many elements mixed in like robots and aliens that Zita come across on her journey.
Library haul!
On my hook: “For” blanket CAL by Hooked on Sunshine, in Hobbii Twirls yarn
I have been reading these out of order. Adorable, original and inventive middle grade graphic novels about Zita, a human girl trapped in space. I think I liked Legends of Zita the spacegirl best. I‘ll definitely keep following her adventures. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🛸🚀🛰
Great story and wickedly good illustrations. Loved the robots the best and of course Strong Strong! So cute! So Zita and her friend Joseph wind up opening a portal into another planet and get in trouble. It takes them a lot to escape the bad guys and hopefully try to get back home. It kept my interest all the way through and of course the ending is left wide open.
3 stars
A cute, short GN with a fun heroine and awesome cast of supporting characters.
Zita pushes a button (no!) and her friend gets kidnapped into space. After a momentary freak out, Zita follows. She accumulates a motley crew to help save her friend and, incidentally, save the day, too. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Day 6
A little twist on the original challenge. Post 7 comic covers that you love over 7 days, with no explanation.
This book is science fiction. I would use this book as an IR. This book is set up in a comic style with a short text on each page which can appeal to students that like the comic format. Zita's friend gets abducted by aliens and it is her duty to rescue her in a strange planet with huge animals such as dinosaur size rats. 😅

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This MG sci-fi graphic novel was exactly what I needed. It is SO precious and cute, and I already rushed to put the next two volumes on hold!
It warms my heart to see how much my 9-year-old great-niece loves the book I gave her.
My daughter and I just finished reading this together. It was a big hit for both of us. Zita is a sassy, loyal, relatable heroine and her adventure is populated by some of the best not-humans I‘ve read in a long time (we especially love Strong Strong). “Mommy, this one gets five thumbs up.” I agree.
Oh look, today‘s #QuotsyNov17 #science prompt in the graphic novel I just started! And this was a topic I was pretty stumped on too 🙌
Zita accidentally sends her friend to space and goes herself to save him. What follows is a fun but standard adventure story. She must defeat the evil and collects a rag-tag group of robots and space creatures, some of questionable morals, along the way.
Entertaining but I think I prefer the Cleopatra in Space series.

Is Ben Hatke trying to channel Spirited Away?
(Spirited Away is on the left and Zita is on the right.)
Fabulous inscription:
“There are two ways of getting home; and one of them is to stay there.
The other is to walk round the whole world till we come back to the same place.”
My reading has been sluggish so I‘m not technically participating in #comicthon today but I do need (want) to read this one for #Z and hopefully I‘ll be able to get to it today. #LitsyAtoZ

Vol 1-3. Here's a charming and imaginative one. Zita and her friend Joseph get sucked into space and meet a bunch of strange and sometimes dangerous characters. Great for kids. The last one in the series is definitely the darkest. It's the drawings and odd ball characters in this that really shine.
A fun space adventure. Zita and her friend Joseph get sucked into a dimensional portal and are soon separated. The aliens want Joseph to be their savior and destroy the asteroid, and all Zita wants to do is save him and get home. This was a fun adventure, and I am happy there are 2 more.
#beatthebacklist #arthur Joseph and Piper are both tinkerers throughout this series. It is essential to survive
Ben Hatke's writing & art combine perfectly to tell/show Zita's amazing adventures to save her friend Joseph. Zita is cute and even a little badass. I love how well Ben conveys emotion in his characters. The story itself is simple & straightforward, but that's part of its charm. The worldbuilding is great, and I enjoy how Ben fits it all together to help Zita rescue Joseph and save the world. #GraphicNovel #BenHatke #Zita #ZitaTheSpacegirl #SciFi
Decided to go for something completely different for my next read. Going off list from Eclectic Readers Podcast MadLibs Reading Challenge, but I've had Zita in my TBR since going to Ben Hatke's book signing at Fountain Bookstore this past summer. Ben has a charming sense of timing for the humor in his writing and art. He's made me laugh several times already. #Zita #ZitaTheSpacegirl #GraphicNovel #ChildrensLit #artwork #BenHatke #GoodNews #BadNews
My first book of 2017 and my first check on my #litsyatoz challenge #letterZ It was a cute story and now I need my library to get the rest of the series! I need to find out just what Zita does next
Happy with my format percentages this year! Normally it's at least 60% audiobooks. 😅
My goals for 2016 were:
1) read 120 books
2) read more graphic novels and comics (Reached 26% of my total. Quite happy with that)
3) read more nonfiction (22% not overly happy with that, but I think that's better than last year)
Authors
Women 60%
Men 40%
How did your reading goals go? Do you have any for this year?
Happy New Year, Litsians!
5⭐️ A very cute story. Really quick, but not lacking in originality and uniqueness. Picked this one up on a whim when noticing how many checkouts this one has gotten in the children's GN section compared to when it was shelved as Sci Fi not long ago.
We love Zita the Spacegirl! My nephew is really into space right now, so I ended up getting him the first one for Christmas. 😊📚❤️
Kiddo tore through this graphic novel this morning. "It is soooooo good Mom!" Love to see his enthusiasm for reading! #boysread #graphicnovels #firstsecond
Lazy morning reread. 💕
My new job has me very busy reading professional texts so my own reading came to a screeching halt, but I am still reading with my kiddos. Zita was a hit with a great story and great graphics. We'll be reading more in this series.
