I told him months ago he could start Harry Potter this summer. It took him two days to read the first one and now he's on to the second. #littlereader

This one finally came in from my hold list at the library. It was a fun quick read but I'm not sure that it deserved all the hype. So I liked it and enjoyed it but didn't love it.
Wowza! I just noticed this on the end of my library receipt today! We've saved $748 since September at the library. I know we go to the library a lot but that's definitely an interesting way to look at it!
I definitely liked the first half of this book better than the second. I've heard so many people rave about this book but I just couldn't get into the characters.
This weekend I read All the Light for the second time. It was my book club pick for Monday night and ended up being one of the best discussions we've had yet. I'm not one to reread books very often but when I do I like to listen to the audiobook. This version was excellent! The book was still as beautiful and haunting the second time around.
I'm enjoying some time out on the porch re-reading one of my favorite books I read last year. I convinced my book club to talk about it this month so I'm making notes as I go along.
This book took me forever to read - 11 days! - but at almost 800 pages it doesn't surprise me. I had no idea going into it that it was a trilogy so I have a lot more reading to do. There was so much packed into The Passage but I wonder if some of it could have been left out. Or maybe it could have been broken up into two books? It's terrifying in some places but I'm glad I read it. The story and the characters were worth it!
Relaxing a bit after a busy week of birthday celebrations for my 7 year old son. Ahhh, a Saturday morning, coffee and a book. ❤️📚 #HelloOctober
My stack from September. Penny was my favorite of the month. I didn't get to as many books as I wanted but I'm also in the middle of Wuthering Heights, Don Quixote, and The Passage. I'm also in the middle of 'rereading' Outlander on Audio. All of those are pretty big books! #wrapup #septemberwrapup
Next up, The Passage! Part of my ever growing TBR is in the background. 📚
It's beautiful outside, I have two sleeping girls in the car and we are a half an hour early for school pick up. It's the perfect time to get a little reading done!
I was lucky enough to hear Mr. Towles speak last night. Go see him if his tour comes close by! I haven't started the book yet and I'm glad because he gave so much history on the hotel that is the setting for this book. Knowing all that now will make reading it even better. His website has a lot of info too that I will check out soon. Sorry for the quality of the picture. We were in the back but I cropped the photo so you could see a little better.

#FunFridayPhoto We currently don't have a coffee table - too many littles running around our house for that - but I still have my favorite coffee table books. I bought way too many of them when I worked at a bookstore years ago. It was tough to choose between my New Yorker book or my stack of Audrey Hepburn books. I went with the cartoons.
I started 'In the Woods' today. I need a page turner after my last book. Fingers crossed...
I've heard such great things about this author but I struggled with this book. I didn't get attached to the characters and almost bailed on it a couple of times. I finished it last night though. So, do I try again with this author? Which book do you suggest?
All this and about 20 kids books for under $9. Not bad at all for a quick stop at our local library book sale. 📚
Duck on a Bike is one of my all time favorites so I was beyond excited to see the sequel pop up in my child's scholastic book order. Both of these books are excellent read alouds and lots of fun. It did not disappoint! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My book, coffee, stormy weather and a snuggly sleepy baby. #perfection
I just finished this one and I think I'll have to soak it in a little more before putting my review out. Two things though - I can't believe it took me years and years to pick this book up and also I wish more books had a ribbon bookmark. That is all...for now.
Well I'm intrigued and so I'll have to at least read the second book to see how they made a series out of Jack Reacher. I can't say that I loved this book but it did keep my attention. It was a quick and easy book with a lot of violence. More than I'm used to and more than I like. It didn't surprise me though, with the name of the book! I can see how it would make a good movie for some people - I'm not sure that I want to watch it though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've heard so much about Jack Reacher that I figured it was time to meet him. I'm about half way through and so far it's a good read!
My husband read this aloud to the kids but I missed too much. They loved it and are reading the 3rd book in the series. Now I'll probably just wait and catch it when my husband reads it to my younger two children in a couple of years. #littlereaders #momlife
I loved taking my time with this one and extending my stay in Three Pines for a few days. This is another 5⭐️ book from Ms Penny. If you read this don't skip the acknowledgements at the back. They are very meaningful and add to the experience of the book. #surprisedbyjoy #threepines #inspectorgamache
Knowing that this is my last Inspector Gamache book for awhile, I'm just hanging out in Three Pines and reading this one slowly. I'm over halfway through it and so far it does not disappoint! #threepines #inspectorgamache #booklove
My stack for August. Not bad considering I went through a reading slump for a couple of weeks. The bottom two were my favorites.
Last night. Louise Penny and I. Her first book was published in 2008 but I stumbled upon it in December of 2015. I read all eleven of the books in her series and just finished the last one on Sunday. Her new book came out on Tuesday and on Wednesday I was able to hear her speak and meet her! She was a joy to listen to and so funny. What a treat to have her in Wichita!
My library haul from today. One I've been meaning to read forever (Atwood), one recommended from the What Should I Read Next podcast (Stegner) and one I heard about from the Books on the Nightstand podcast (Child) Between podcasts and Litsy my TBR is ridiculous! What book podcasts are your favorites?
This was my first attempt at a short story collection. I thought it would be fun to read a story or two in between books and I'm not giving up on the idea even though these stories didn't really pull me in. Do any of my Litsy friends have short story recommendations for me?

Yesterday I walked by this book on my counter and started reading it. And then I kept reading and reading. I accidentally read this entire book in one day. It's that good. I'm tired from staying up late but it was completely worth it. I knew nothing about it ahead of time and I'm glad because everything was a surprise. Now I wish I could read it all over again for the first time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #BOTM
This book took me forever to read. The writing style was amazing but I didn't like the characters. I have to mark it as a pick because it's definitely a book I'll think about after reading it even though I didn't love it.

Wow. I just finished this and I'm so impressed. The plot in this series just keeps getting better and better. The next book comes out on Tuesday and I can not wait. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ahhh, all I needed was a really good book to get me out of my reading slump! I think I'll just sit here for awhile, snuggle during nap time and read. #inspectorgamache #threepines
I've been in a reading slump this month. 😕 Yesterday I realized that I only have a week until I see Louise Penny in person so I had better get going on this last book in her series. I put Fates and Furies aside for now and I'm ready to head to Three Pines. #inspectorgamache #threepines
We finally made it to the bookstore! The kids each got to pick out some books because we met our family summer goal to read 750 books. It was a surprise trip and my son guessed we were going to Canada. (We live in Kansas!) I'm glad he was excited about the books and wasn't too disappointed we didn't go out of the country. 😉
We just surpassed our family reading goal for the summer! 750 books read and school starts tomorrow. We just made it! Our reward is to head out to a bookstore and pick out some new books. #littlereader #summerreading
Spending a few minutes with some coffee and a book.
I finished my first Rowell. Landline was cute and I'd recommend it to someone that wanted a really light read but I didn't love the book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just walked in to the living room and these two are rotating pages while reading aloud to each other. I didn't even realize we had two of the same book. I'm so happy they love books and reading. #littlereader
Her TBR pile is pretty impressive for the night. #littlereader #tbrtuesday
My stack for #tbrtuesday - I try to limit my immediate stack to 10. I'm looking forward to all of these and so it's hard to decide my next read. What would you suggest?
My July. I guess I read a lot of blue books last month. 7 books plus three I'm still reading. My favorite was How the Light Gets In with The Lake House coming in a close second. All good books! #julyreads
Finished #10 today. I usually like to space this series out a bit but my library book is due. #9 was so good and that made it a little harder to get into but it's still a good one! #inspectorgamache #threepines
