Thoughts on calling in sick tomorrow so I can stay home and listen to Retta read to me all day? You guys, THIS BOOK! Loved her in Parks and Rec, love her in Good Girls, and am confident she would have killed it in Dreamgirls. Retta is the real deal. Highly recommend the audio for the full hilarity of her storytelling. If I haven‘t sold you already, there‘s a whole bit about coffee and pooping. #nailedit Can we get a girl her sitcom now????

What a heartbreakingly beautiful novel!!! This debut from Crystal Hana Kim is told by five different narrators from 1951-1967 amid the dawn of modern day Korea. I‘m a sucker for multiple perspectives when it‘s done well, and these characters are so richly drawn with such entirely distinct voices. I️ felt so invested in their stories that I‘m sad to leave them! I️t‘s five stars from me and I‘ll definitely be following this author in the future.

My August reads! My pick-of-the-month has to be The Great Alone, though A Place for Us was not far behind. Was also pleasantly surprised by The Air You Breathe, which I️ only heard of thanks to #botm 🤓.

My pick of the month from everything I read in July! I read this pretty soon after A Little Life so I️ definitely see the comparisons that folks have been mentioning. While I️ didn‘t think this was quite as good, I️ did find myself emotionally invested in the characters in a similar way and I️‘m always a sucker for multiple timelines/points of view. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

This isn‘t exactly what I was expecting, but I‘m digging it so far. Anyone else read this one?

Thanks to @WilliamMorrowBooks for this advance reader‘s edition of Beatriz‘s Williams‘ new novel, out July 10th. So far I‘m loving the way the story is told through three different timelines and from multiple perspectives - my kind of novel!

What a stunning novel. I️ had been reluctant to start this one because I️ wasn‘t a huge fan of A Man Called Ove, but I️ finally gave in to the hype and am SO glad I️ did. Gorgeously written, beautifully affecting story. I️ can‘t wait to read the next one.
