Picked this one up based on the fact that it upset a couple of my library patrons. Color me curious!

I picked this one up bc it sounded exciting- America's most successful bank robber! I bailed bc I was dragging myself thru it. His recollections interspersed with what was 'then present day'. Don't bother.

Looking forward to starting this gem, & reading about the infamous Willie Sutton. One of the FBIs first 'Most Wanted'.

I always enjoy a good military fiction, especially when the author knows his subject. Classic 'shit rolls downhill and turns into a clusterfreck that the hero is unjustly blamed for.' You actually spend a good part of the book wondering who the good guy is.😁

This soooo has to be a series!!! 😍Love it! Cannot say too much without giving it away. Makes one think about the adage that we affect what we observe by the simple act of observing it.

Giving this one another shot. Looks like another murder mystery with a gritty curmudgeon of a private investigator stumbling on a body. So far so 👍

Another great read from Darling. So love the character! Great for those who like modern urban fantasy with classics like the Fae & the Fae realm.

This book brings the storyline mostly full circle. Still a delightful read. The transitions between timelines can be confusing.

A delightfully humorous romp through steam-punk, alternate-history Victorian England. Light-hearted & frequently funny. Great for those who like steam-punk, Victorian Era mysteries, or historical fiction.

Trying it again... The language is a bit pretentious to my ears & one of the primary plot points seems overly dramatic (punishment for wizards interacting with normals). Maybe if you like Classic High Fantasy, this might be your bag?

Classic high fantasy... This story isn't in a hurry to get where it's going, but that's okay because the journey is pretty entertaining. I haven't read Belgariad or Mallorean series, so the end seemed a little incomplete. I think i will find it dovetails neatly into either series.

I really enjoyed this book. Feisty, independent woman not afraid to be herself even in stifling Victorian England. A classic Victorian adventure; easy read, just a smattering of light romance or 'indelicate talk'. No heavy issues, just a fun read.

I'm officially a Joona Linna fan. I enjoyed the book, tho I skipped over the sex scenes. Joona still feels a little flat, but he is starting to come to life in book #2, that I'm now reading.

Just getting into Hell Divers, not bad so far. Dystopian scifi; dystopian isn't usually my bag but this has been good.

Working on The Hypnotist by Lars Keplar. Not too bad, but it feels sort of flat - & more like telling than showing. This could be because I'm reading an English translation (from Swedish).

The second book in the 'Custard Protocol', in which our dear heroine, daughter of the previous series main characters, seems to grow up. A touch more romance but still no details, this is a Victorian era book after all. Carriger has made me fall in love with steampunk paranormal alternate history! 😍 Still a light fun paranormal read.

This might turn into a DNF; even though I appreciate the dry, self-depreciating humor, it is too depressing & there's not enough action. I'm about to start chapter 5. Can anyone give me a heads up?

YA modern take on Sherlock. Presupposes Holmes & Watson families as real. Felt like Watson's character was unrealistically preoccupied with Holmes; felt like character only existed for Holmes. Interesting Sherlock but not an entirely successful attempt at depicting an alternate way of thinking.

I read novelized version. Fun mix of horror, dystopia, YA, paranormal, western, steampunk, adventure, & romance! Violence & gore, very little romance but sexual violence so beware. Typical stoic tsundere hero. Enjoyed it a lot!

Reading this for a FB group. An interesting look at Palestinian culture thru the eyes of its women. If you aren't familiar with the culture, take time to read the Intro. A wonderful & moving collection of short stories.

A light, easy romantic comedy with magic thrown in. Characters are easy to like, romance is minimal & there's no gore at all. A light, endearing read that will leave you feeling better than before you picked it up.

Again I enjoyed the storyline & characters. I liked the relationship between the main characters Cafferty & Quinn. I think they went to bed together too soon, though. Sex and romance and the paranormal, but not much of a mystery.

It felt like taking longer to get there would've been truer to their characters. Definite romance with passionate but vanilla sex scenes, some detail included. An easy paranormal read that won't make you think too hard.

An absorbing snapshot of one woman's fight for justice in turn-of-the-century New York. By turns horrifying, frustrating, & somewhat gratifying. At first the Holmes reference isn't apparent, but soon becomes clear when we meet the woman who becomes our main character.

This 'mystery' reads more like a slice of life story. A slow moving story about an unrepentant alcoholic who has difficulty connecting to those around him. It has an interesting twist at the end. A deeply flawed character, but not really a book for mystery lovers.

A horror mystery with quite a bit of the paranormal tossed in. Dark at times but with a satisfying ending, mostly.

An interesting private eye mystery featuring Brighton England. Quite a bit of modern English culture, though it doesn't feel as vibrant as it could. A gritty, realistic read.

Well, Littens, I'm packing it in. This is really a good story with vibrant characters that I like in spite of myself. But it's just not sitting well with me. I think if you love horror or alternative spiritual viewpoints this might be right up your alley. For me, though, it's 'ta-ta' for now lovey. Maybe I'll catch Joe later.

A marvelous Holmes pastiche on the classic style of Doyle. Horowitz does a great job re-creating the original Holmes & Watson! Loved it! 😍😊

Well, Littens, most all is right with the world again. Though I mourn for our dear Vampire Dandy's loss, I have no doubt he will find a way to recover what was his. I devoutly hope there is more to this series!

Oh Littens! I am devastated! I still love this series, but the ending! Oh, how could he be so arrogant and cruel and untrusting?! Thank God I have the next book already! A wonderful story but please prepare yourself for the ending.

Littens, I love finding a heroine & a world I enjoy so much! Such dry humor & wit, with an intelligent independent heroine who doesn't get lost in other's expectations. Steampunk paranormal with a twist on the origination of vamps & weres. There is romance, but it feels like it was tacked on to satisfy the publisher. Still well done & fitting with the heroine, though I thought the hero was pushed to the limit to accommodate this. Still delightful!

An enjoyable piece of alternate history, theoretically based on hidden diaries of Abraham Lincoln. Some historical events are mentioned with alternative reasoning, but he generally sticks with earlier life descriptions.
