My new BOTM came in on my birthday and I finally started it last night. It's such a quick but fun read. I was surprised at how slim this book is. It's only 203 pages. I'm breezing right through it. So far, it's a really enjoyable book!

Not my favorite book by a long shot. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I just can't seem to get into this. It feels like I'm just trudging along. I'm hoping it picks up and catches my interest.
☀️On a side note, it's 23F and I'm thrilled. We haven't seen those temps in MONTHS! ☀️
Not great, not terrible. I'm nearly done and it's been a quick and mostly satisfying read.
"This kid isn't a little asswipe for hitting a girl, he's an asswipe for hitting anyone!"
So far one of my favorite book quotes ever. ?
Just my two year old sneaking off for some reading on her own. Her favorite is The Giving Tree.
*Dont mind the construction. After 10 years, it has to be done one day 😂*
Overall, I really liked it. I've only read one other of his books (Midwives) and I think I'll have to take read of a few others.
I liked this one much more than the first Tana French book I read. Time to start a new one!
"The truth is, if you don't exist without someone else, you don't exist at all."
"...couples making sure the world can see how in love they are, families who are going to enjoy their family time if it kills them all."
Beautiful. Lyrical writing as usual. I was so struck by this book, I don't have much to say other than its a new favorite. As an Alaskan, this story really resonated with me. As an adventurer, wife, survivor of miscarriage, and lover of nature, this story stirred emotions in me like few other books have.
I loved this. Arthur Pepper sounds a lot like how I imagine my husband being if I am to die before him. This was a great read and a well needed break from all the gothic stories I usually reach for.
It was a large group of retarded people and after a watching them for a few minutes I could not begin to guess where the retarded people ended and the regular New Yorkers began.
I really liked this. I breezed right through it. The story is heartbreaking when you learn what happened to everyone.
It's -18F and I'm waiting at the bus stop for my kids. Perfect time to crack open a new read!
Just started this and it's, um, interesting. I like the concept, but I'm not sure this is my kind of book. We shall see. It's an ARC from NetGalley, so at least I'm not out any money lol!
"Yet the mind must chew on something, else it will chew on itself."
I've got a tired baby on my lap, classical film scores playing in the background and another NetGalley read. I'm good 😊
Man, this girl gives a mean scowl!
Just what I needed to distract me from this election circus.
Got this as a promotional giveaway from St Martin's Press. I just started it after I got the youngest three in bed. I like it so far. I'm interested to see what the deal is with Jack and what's Grace's reasoning to stay with him.
I also really love the extra step the publisher is going to get the word out. So fun!
I was really into this. The writing was solid and it was easy to read. I got it done in one day, which is surprising as I have 4 kids and went to a baby shower too! I did stay up past my bedtime, but I don't regret a thing 😉
Just started and so far it's intriguing...
It's my first BOTM read!
Meh. I'd hardly call it horror. Thriller maybe, but even that feels like a bit of a stretch. I don't see why it's been so hyped up. There was very little creepiness. A bit of blood and gore, but even that wasn't very impressive. I'm happy it was a library book and I didn't drop $25 on it.
This took me longer to read than I had planned, but not because of any lagging in the book. My life is just busy at the moment. Such is this season of motherhood. It's an excellent book!
Excellent!
My stepdaughter picked this out at her school's book fair. Our librarian is the best and put a copy off to the side for her when we were unpacking. My stepdaughter finished it in a weekend and LOVED it!
Stopped by the book fair at my kids school to work on some PTA stuff and the librarian put this cute bookmark off to the side for me. It's perfect!
How do you all log your serial reader progress on Goodreads? Help!
Since I finished my last Audible book, A Brief History of Creation. I started a new one this morning. I listen while I sew and do household chores. My husband walked in as the narrator started talking about canine menstrual blood. He walked right back out 😂
Making some progress on the book while wearing my favorite bookish pjs. I made them from flannel and they're so soft and faded. I really wish I bought more of this print!
I. Just. Can't.
The writing is poor, repetitive and absolutely boring. I NEVER not finish a book but I have to make an exception for this.
It's a chilly morning at the bus stop! We're sitting in the car waiting for the bus and I'm squeezing reading in anyway I can.
I listened to this on audible and loved it. The book was well written and the narrators voice was a perfect compliment. It's incredible to see how far we've come in understanding where we've come from, and just how much more is still undetermined. A definite read!
Not feeling too hot today so I'm relying on my standby of; bed, coffee and a good book to make me feel better.
My house is a wreck, dinner needs to be cooked and the boys need to get ready for Boy Scouts, but I just want to curl up on the couch and read. Darn adult responsibilities.
Multitasking like a boss. Bath time for the littlest babe, knitting her a sweater and listening to Audible.
I love that this 6 year old boy still loves to curl up and hold my hand while I read 💗
Got out and early to vote and now I'm waiting to pick my kindergartener up. Such a good book so far.
Not a bad book at all. Some of the parts relating to the missing girls were hard to get through. They weren't graphic, or anything, but it's hard to read children being abducted and such. The characters were well thought out. I plan on reading her other books. I really enjoyed this one.
I finally got this in from BOTM after nearly 3 weeks! The shipping was crazy slow, slow enough the next month's picks were nearly out. It was my first month, I'm not sure I'll be back again. It was a huge bummer, I was super excited for "me mail". I never buy myself stuff just for me.
Finally getting back into this after a looooong week of PTA meetings and birthdays. So far, it's an excellent read!
I'm stoked. Our library just got this in and I'm the first one to check it out. Super excited to start reading!
"Natural beauty is everywhere," he said. "It finds a place for itself even right here. You just have to know where to look."
I'm putting Queen of Theives to the back burner for a bit and started this one tonight. This quote just jumped out at me.
It's midnight and I'm up with this little stinker waiting for her to hit the hay. I'm still really unsure about this book. It's incredibly repetitive. If I read one more sentence about how tall and heavy Marm Mandelbaum was, I may very well scratch out my own eyes. I foresee this being a "bail". The writing is just so bad.
Started this today and so far I'm on the fence. I LOVE Gilded Age NYC history, but this isn't really jiving with me yet.
Thanks NetGalley for another win! This was a great read. The atmosphere of the book was perfect. Spooky and creepy without gore. The mood built up over the course of the book and really had you rooting for the main characters. I thought the characters were well thought out and very relatable. I enjoyed the ending as well. A definite pick!
