'They weren't born of a free heart, but of one that had known despair so complete that living brightly, living violently, was the only way to outrun it'
A late night last night finishing Heir Of Fire. Didn't grab me as much as the other two - very slow story. Better hopes for Queen of Shadows!
Just finished this whilst road-tripping back from the coast. I am loving each instalment more and more, but I am worried that Heir of Fire will take place away from Chaol and make me miss him! 😫
Oh this book.. there are no words. Love love loved it! Although, I must point out that it's pretty racy stuff... There, the elephant in the room has been acknowledged.. 😳 CANNOT wait for book three #teamrhysand 💙
This book was liked reading two different books in one! The first half was creepy and mysterious and very gothic horror style tension building...The second half was all wham bam here are the kids, they aren't scary after all, let's have an adventure! I feel the author could have introduced the kids a bit slower and carried on the tension. Saying that, I still loved it 😊
Far from my usual reading material, but surprisingly I really enjoyed it! What girl doesn't like a big ole dollop of gossip?! 💁
'You learn to live your new life, and you can't imagine, or even really remember, how things were before' 😍
'Whoever loves you now - and you must also love yourself - will love the truth of you' ❤️
So it took me about a quarter of the book before I realised the main protagonist was a boy and not a girl... Mind.Blown. Great little book with a fast pace that keeps you turning the page. Some complex issues here! Reminded me of The Bell Jar...
This book was recommended to me by a work colleague, and I was a bit sceptical as crime novels are really not my thing! However, the character of Pilgrim is so compelling you simply cannot put it down. It's a weighty book at nearly 900 pages, and carrying it around everywhere with me for a week has taken its toll! 😊 Its an epic read and is up there with some of the best books I've ever read.
Whilst it was nice to see Lou again, I felt this sequel seemed a little rushed. It felt as though it was written by an entirely different author! I did however enjoy it, but it will never live up to the first book.
Being back at Hogwarts brought back all the emotions! Without giving any spoilers..Rowling did some wonderful things with her characters in this book - although I agree with others that Ron was surprisingly meh 😔 Scorpius is my new favourite nerd #teamslytherin 🐍
A very very slow burn... By pure coincidence I had just finished reading a book whose plot twist was exactly the same as the one in this book, so the big reveal left me a bit meh..
'The four doors of the mind'
I pick up a book from a second hand store only to find this horror within its pages! 😳 #whotreatstheirbookslikethis #sacrilege
'I felt myself surrounded by millions of abandoned pages, by worlds and souls without an owner sinking in an ocean of darkness, while the world that throbbed outside the library seemed to be losing its memory, day after day, unknowingly, feeling all the wiser the more it forgot' @24in48 #readathon #24in48
'But what Destiny does not do is home visits. You have to go for it yourself'
The language in this book is just beautiful. So many wonderful quotes to choose from!
Enjoyed a coffee and my book in the sun this morning ☺️📖☕️
Next up....
May need a library visit at the weekend to stock back up! 📚😏
For someone who doesn't really enjoy the mushy love stuff in novel format, I loved this book. The premise was great! The ending was a little meh, but I know now that there is a second book.
When you're trying to read in bed and this face is distracting you... 🐾😍
Will be stocking up on books from the library ready for my first ever 24 hour Readathon with @24in48 📚😊
Love love love starting a new book - especially a heavy tome like this one. See you on the other side! 🤓📖
LOVED this book. I started reading it off the back of finishing All The Bright Places, and the two fit perfectly together.
A little light bedtime reading.... 🤓
