This was a beautiful and empowering second installment to Honey Girl! I loved it and can't wait to see if there is more. Nani is such a badass who is finally coming to terms with her love of surfing and her love of women.

Such an interesting read. Currently on the chapter about sports. A huge factor of tension for kids and parents.
One of the most raw things I've ever read. I'm not even sure I can express the emotions in this book, but this is very worth a read.
I really enjoyed this book. I love Nani as a character and really enjoyed her progression. The ending was quite as finite as I wanted it to be but I am happy to know that there is more. I'll be digging into the second installment soon.
This book was perfection. Each of these stories helped to revive my faith in humankind.
Read this book. Solnit hits the nail on the head in every essay in this book.
This book is hilarious. Irby is so real about everything you could ever imagine.
Yaaasssss. Go buy this book. You will not regret reading this for one second.
So happy that this came up on the other books list on book of the month when I was ordering my May pick! It was such a wonderful read and really trigger that wanderlust that I've had from a young age.
I have no words. Everyone needs to read this and then we all need to do everything we can to make sure this does not become our reality.
This was a painfully true collection of poems. I'm not usually into poetry but I loved this one!
There are no words for how beautiful this book was. The drawings are gorgeous and the story is heartbreakingly beautiful.
A really great graphic novel about family dynamics in a small town in Africa.
Loved reading Hustle and Heart by Kailyn Lowry.
This should be required reading. Especially for our jerk of a president.
Really enjoyed this graphic novel and cookbook. I'm a terrible cook so pictures really help me. I only wish there would have been more about Ha's life!
"Man, life's going to keep pushing you around, but you have to keep playing."
I couldn't agree more!!

When can I move to Denmark? I'm sold.
This book was full of pain and suffering but it was beautifully written. Being female isn't easy and this book paints a portrait of what it's like to the t.
Finished my #24in48 at 7.45 hours and 6 books read. Despite not reaching my goal I still plan to donate 25$ to Planned Parenthood.
"What would I be if I weren't Princess Leia? ... never have been asked, 'Who do you think you would've turned out to be if you weren't an intergalactic princess?' I'd be me. You know, Carrie. Just me."
Feeling super behind but I need to stop for dinner. Planning to donate the dollar amount of hours I finish to Planned Parenthood since I didn't march today. #24in48
How have I never read this until now? Actually the perfect graphic novel. I even teared up at the end.
This book mostly made sad that I live where I do. It's full of eye opening facts. I'm sure the U.S. could learn a lot from these ideas.
A little reading in bed on Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays!!
Stick figure decals of your family on your car's back window: I thought they were the most depressing things in the universe (we don't care to know the exact makeup of your fucking family!)... until I saw a stick figure family with Mickey ears on it. See "Orlandon't" if you even have to ask.
I loved every second of this book. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. Top contender for my best book of 2016.
Because even though I've been lucky enough to play many memorable ladies, and have true and deep affection for each and every person I've ever pretended to be, there's really only one with whom I have the most special kind of connection.
But when the bedroom door clicks shit, they switch on computers. Their fingers click. A magic door whooshes open. They are someone else. They wear armor, swishers their eyes with kohl, wield swords. They are invincible.
I am once again the only person who wasn't into this book. It happened with My Brilliant Friend too. Couldn't do it.
Why do self-help books never work for me?!
I just finished read Sacred and Stolen by Gary Vikan last night. For anyone who loves Thomas Hoving's Making the Mummies Dance, this book is a great little snippet of life in the art world. Peppered with facts about Vikan's past this book is autobiographical but also very informative. He has highlighted some of his triumphs and fails as a curator and director.
I could not think of a better way to educate myself about the Nigerian Civil War of the late 1960s. Adichie is a master of weaving stories, people, places, and history together.
A beautiful book that is unbelievably inspiring.
Georgie and Luca over loss and then fall in love in this wonderful and heartwarming story. Seriously dreaming of their Italian bed and breakfast!
Everyone seriously needs to read this book. I don't even like football but I couldn't put it down. I found myself researching all of the players mentioned, reading article after article about Mike Webster. So eye opening and so sad.
This has to be one of the coolest books I've seen in awhile. The list they have put together is great and doesn't include the usual suspects! Very worth a read.
