When I heard there was going to be a sequel to Bird Box I was ecstatic and a bit skeptical. Bird Box was magnificent, it was scary, thrilling, heartwrenching, and beautiful all at the same time. I was excited to know more about this world overrun with creatures we couldn't look at but on the other hand would the sequel ever live up to the original. That it did and more! Malorie kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved every second of it!

This book was heart-wrenching. I knew it was going to be sad, it's about the holocaust and that's part of the territory. But I had no idea what I had signed up for. Still, it was a great book. I loved it and will recommend it in a heart beat. I decided to read it because of a podcast I've been listening called 3 Book Girls. They discuss the books they've read over the week. They are hilarious, amazing, and real.

S3V3N I loved it! 5y

So, I actually watched the tv series before listening to this book. In my defense I started the show without knowing it was a book beforehand and I can‘t resist David Tennant 😍. The book was everything I hoped and dreamed it was. It was the same as the show but of course with more details. Definitely one of my favorite reads. There was sass, friendship, danger, love, and comedy. What more could you ask for?

Jari-chan Who could resist David Tennant anyways? 😉 5y

One Hundred Years of Solitude LP | Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Honestly, going into this book I thought it was about a guy who lived completely alone for one-hundred years. Not sure how I thought that was plausible or going to be a good book. I thought it was going to be this guy talking to him self and I‘d get the backstory of why he was alone with no other humans or animals. Then I started the book it‘s nothing like that. There‘s lots of characters and talking. It was quite a shock! Also, it‘s good so far!

rretzler Interesting...I‘ve stayed away from it because I read the tagged book by him and wasn‘t crazy about it. But I‘ve heard good things from others, so maybe I should try it. 5y
AGO715 @rretzler I‘m not very far into the book, but what I‘ve read so far is good. It‘s really interesting! 5y

Unpopular opinion: I did not like To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. I couldn‘t get into it at all. I finished the book, but when it was over I feel like I didn‘t get anything from it at all. I don‘t know if it‘s because of the writing style, the plot not being the focus, or maybe I‘m not old enough to fully grasp the concept.

jenreads7 Welcome to Litsy! 🎉 📚 How old are you? 6y

Curiouser_and_curiouser Hi @AGO715 and welcome to Litsy! I have a couple of her books and recently acquired To the Lighthouse, I was very excited to explore Virginia Woolfe but after only reading a chapter or two of this one I've dropped it like a hot potato. I would like to try again some other time I think as well as the other books I have of hers but yes, I can see why you did not like it. I will be 47 on the 29th of June, next week 6y
ImperfectCJ Welcome to Litsy! I've never been able to get into To the Lighthouse, either. Still think I ought to make it all the way through, but "ought to" isn't a strong motivator for me. :-) 5y

I have watched The Freedom Writers movie so many times I‘ve lost count. It is one of my all time favorites. I‘ve wanted to read the book since I first saw it. Well, a few weeks ago I found it on ThriftBooks. I‘m so excited to finally start this book and compare it to the movie!

I‘m half way through with Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I have loved this series so much. The first book so far is my favorite but the last is coming up fast the more I read. Lara Jean and Peter are just so cute together!! They bring out the best in each other and for opposites they make a great couple. The movie on Netflix has become a sort of guilty pleasure of mine. Definitely going to be a series I read multiple times.

There are three books I‘ve read that have devastated or shocked me fully. The ending of My Sister‘s Keeper and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas devastated me! It completely took me by surprise the main characters dying and the way they died. The Last Battle in the Narnia series shocked and angered me. I was angry and confused when Aslan told them they were all dead. It‘s been years since I‘ve read any of these books and I‘m still upset about them.

KristenDuck I remember when I was a kid my mom used to say “well they never kill the main character” ... things have changed! 6y
AGO715 Yes it has! Main characters used to be safe. But not anymore, not in anything. Book, tv, movies 6y
APLitlife My favorite author! Love her books! 6y
SW-T Loved this book, but that ending was a surprise! Years since I read the Narnia series but it was shocking to have main characters die back then. Par for the course now 😳 6y

Bird Box: A Novel | Josh Malerman

The movie trailer caught my attention, I was skeptical because I thought it was a horror film. Of course, before watching it I had to read the book. I listened to the audiobook of Bird Box ( I always have an audiobook, e-book, & physical book I‘m reading). It was amazing! Not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. Though it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. After, finishing the book I turned around and immediately watched the movie.

RaimeyGallant I loved the movie. :) And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site.
