Bailedbailed

This started off quite well but has become rather boring now. DNF @ 40%.

This was a fun video game fantasy adventure story. It was picked for my irl bookclub by my partner, an old favorite of his. Giannine gets stuck in a virtual reality game and must win before time runs out or she'll die in real life. She encounters all kinds of riddles and challenges as her character fulfills her role as the new heir to the kingdom and is constantly getting killed and having to start over. It was silly and enjoyable

A delightful graphic novel. Girl discovers the potential of VR to create good in the world. The message is less “tech bad“, more “tech? Depends what you do with it.“ I loved her messy, emerging friendship with Mateo and her discovery that other people have crap going on in their lives too.

Only marred by its opioid rep - it's good to highlight issues of substance use, but its bad to do so via an egregious lie.

And despite the fact that they all had their eyes open, every one of them looked dead.

Interesting sci fi considering what is reality, and what is not reality. A computer programmer, trapped alone on a starship headed to nowhere, creates his own world. Or does he?

Bugz lives on an Anishinaabe reserve in northern Manitoba. She‘s an expert gamer in a virtual world, where she usually escapes her problems—like her grief over her brother‘s death & haters on social media—but things are going wrong in the Floraverse & spilling over IRL. It might be all Bugs‘ fault. Volume 2 in Wab Kinew‘s fast-paced Floraverse series does not disappoint. In fact, I liked it even more than the first. #Indigenous #Canadian #YA
