One of the more interesting pieces I saw yesterday as a hobbled my way around the museum. Palmer‘s “Indian Girl, or The Dawn of Christianity” where she supposedly is hit by a spiritual bolt of lightning by finding a cross in the woods. Beautiful statue, sad re-writing of history. #themet #nyc

pickThe tagged book is a novel about the modern-day pursuit of a rare and fantastic JMW Turner painting that the artist created while in residence at Petworth House in Suffolk. Both the art caper and the historical-fiction sections ask the reader to imagine a glorious (and alas totally fictional) painting that would render the viewer awestruck.
It boggles the mind.
