so-soYou know what, it's tricky. I liked the writing and the timeline of a long weekend, a family wedding and that it was from the father of the bride perspective.
But... What a ghastly man... His lecherous thoughts and behaviour were cringy and so out of keeping with normality. And I don't feel her got his comeuppance!
@Leftcoastzen Yes, really! ? I saw this and thought, "I've seen something about Lenny Bruce recently." ? This is a 1976 Panther Books UK edition.
I've wanted to get a book about Bruce for ages as Julian Cope uses one of his routines about the police state in his song "Soldier Blue" on his "Peggy Suicide" album, and flicking through the book I found that set included, so I'm really pleased by this acquisition ?

pickVery good. Although it might seem like a man vs. nature book, the more you get into it, you realize it's more of a man vs. man or man vs. self book. All about conformity and how we must break away. Very interesting view on people and how we've progressed.

The tagged book was a favorite for sure but they are all fascinating gems in their own ways. So glad these are being regularly reprinted!
And thanks to @Jess_Read_This for enabling me in these purchases and buddyreading many of these with me! Now to check on the titles pubbing in January 2022 because, of course 🤦🏼♀️

This year I decided for Christmas I am doing one book for each of my family members.
I got this one for my younger sister as she recently got married to a Norwegian man and loves the folklore tales over there.
Can‘t wait to give everybody theirs. 🎄🎁
pickThis novel is a series of linked observations, like literary pointalism. The characters touch the bondaries of their bubble in society - prep school, college, clubs and wealty ennui but never burst it. The sole character of color is used to give a distanced & morally correct pov. I can‘t wait for the book that shows a black person happily drinking & swimming in the lemonade. If you liked The Nest, you‘ll like this, but there are no surprises.
