As a card-carrying Canadian, I'm a tad ashamed that I haven't checked out this mystery series yet. The promo bookmark that I picked up at a local indie bookshop made me change my mind (look at the Three Pines on it 😍). #SetInYourCountry #ReadJanuary

BookishBlonde12 😲✨💕 8y
Imagineannie I love her books so much. And I've learned a great deal about Canadian history and geography. I hope you enjoy. 8y
sherryvdh I only just read it recently. So good! Hope you enjoy it! 8y

Blaire I started on this series last year and really enjoy it. 8y
Anton I'm a card carrying Canadian too, but my card needs to be renewed. 😢 8y
RobinW I have this series on my 2017 TBR list. 8y
Hobbinol I'm not so certain that I won't apply for a Canadian card (have to see how these next four years go... and I do have some québécois ancestors so I'd be able to go to all the family reunions right away without having to be adopted ?). (edited) 8y
Melissa_J Another Canuck here; I've only read the first book. 8y
Suzze I want that bookmark! If you ever see another one can you pick it up for me? I'll pay all expenses. Everyone in my father's family was born in Canada (Ontario) - except him. He was born after they all moved to Detroit. 8y
drokka I have had the first three books of this series for a few years and have yet to read them either. *hangs head in shame* 8y
drokka @Suzze At least Detroit is walking distance to the border 😉 8y
Suzze @drokka Yes! And most people don't realize that you have to go South from Detroit to get to Windsor, Ontario. 8y
LeahBergen @Imagineannie Oh, good! 👏🏻 8y
LeahBergen @sherryvdh Thanks! 😀 8y
LeahBergen @Blaire Good to hear! 👍🏼 8y
LeahBergen @Anton 😂 You're in Texas, right? 8y
LeahBergen @RobinW This is my year for it, too 👍🏼 8y
LeahBergen @Hobbinol Come on up! 😘 8y
LeahBergen @Melissa_J 😀🇨🇦 8y
LeahBergen @Suzze I'll keep an eye out, for sure! I was so excited to find it as I collect this type of leather bookmark. Are you a fan of the series? 8y
LeahBergen @drokka I have been meaning to get to it for ages, too. 8y
Suzze @LeahBergen probably in my top 3 series, along with Maisie Dobbs and Harry Bosch. 8y
Anton @LeahBergen Yes, Houston currently but I've been in the States for the better part of the last 20 years. Hoping to move back though, just a matter of when. 8y

#setinyourcountry I was born in New York, lived in England from 2-12, Costa Rica from 12-19, then various States in the US from 19 to today. I currently live in MA so will use this as my "home" state.

I plan to tackle this monster next month. Set In Massachusetts. Anyone want to join me? #readjanuary

respekt1111 Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt. That book is a trip! 8y
JenP @respekt1111 did you like it? 8y
respekt1111 I went through a rollercoaster of love, hate, awe, bafflement, admiration, disgust, exhaustion...This book will test you, but it's truly unforgettable. I don't regret reading it. 8y

A selection of some of the books set in England for the #SetInYourCountry #ReadJanuary prompt.
I also had photos for Wuthering Heights, Dracula, and Wind in the Willows, but my collage maker refused to add them 😂

CrowCAH Ugh, yet another cover of P&P I don't have for the collection! ☺️ 8y

#setinyourcountry is easy. #setinyourcity is surprisingly difficult (I know because I had trouble finding anything that looked remotely appealing to me for the read harder challenge of within 100 miles of where you live). Mom bought this book by a local author, but said it was so awful she actually DNF. 😳I'm hoping to find an alternative for the challenge. We don't always agree, but she rarely DNFs, and I trust her judgement. #readjanuary

carrieonwayward Are you looking for something based near Charlotte? 8y
DGRachel @carrieonwayward Yes! The only other books I could find were either nonfiction or book #3 or later of a series by Kathy Reichs. Since this is for a challenge and my TBR is already out of control, I didn't want to have to read two extra books just to get to #3 and I hate reading series out of order. 😳 8y
carrieonwayward @DGRachel - see if you can find Dry Grass of August by Anna Jean Mayhew. I read it several years ago, it takes place in Charlotte in the 1950s. A little bit in the same vein as The Help, although not as good. It wasn't a GREAT book, but it was alright. 8y

DGRachel @carrieonwayward Thanks! 😁 8y
bookwrm526 For set within 100 miles of you, you might try this one, set in Columbia SC....I think that's about 85 miles from Charlotte? 8y
DGRachel @bookwrm526 That looks like a "me" book! I will definitely check it out, thanks!! 8y
