Sha0102 Andrew65, I read the next one Ritual and didn't like as much as The treatment. Things changed too quickly, in my opinion, from the last book but I wanna read the next one just to be sure about keep reading these books or not. What about you? Did you enjoy the next books? 4y

Gritty book. Setting is Millennium Dome Site, Greenwich, England. 5 corpses found & all young woman with no missing persons reported. The sexual serial killer is named Birdman, Hayder has refined her craft & used her imagination. I have found DI Jack Caffery to be very interesting character & look forward to reading more about him in future books. I do recommend this series.

Grey finds a survivor of the massacre who is a visiting professor at the university of Tokyo. Grey now needs to gain his trust. Mo Hayder gives us a gritty and harrowing read about a time in history that was very brutal! I also enjoyed a peek at Tokyo. Recommended!

Walking Man finds a dog wandering alone with the words; HELP US; attached to its collar. He calls on DI Jack Caffery to investigate. Caffery is reluctant until the Walking Man promises new information regarding the childhood disappearance of Caffery's brother. The Anchor-Ferrers, a local family, are held hostage in their home. Horrific book from Mo Hayder. Not for the faint of heart! Ending was the best when Caffery got Ewen info. Very surprising!

Andrew65 Be Thursday at least until I can pick it up at the library. My reading capacity will massively slow down now, as back at school tomorrow. This month most probably read less than half what I read this month. 5y

so-so

Bristol, UK. Not as good as Bk 1 and 2. Boring in parts. Too many sub-plots. I will continue the series, however. Sgt. Flea Marley finds a human hand while diving. She teams up with Jack Caffery. Both Marley and Caffery are flawed as Marley lost her parents to a dive and Caffery is still mourning his brother, Ewen. The Walking Man is introduced. I would recommend to those who love gritty thrillers. Not for the faint of heart.

This is 2nd in Jack Cafferty series and is darker and more disturbing than the 1st. Even with the gritty and gruesomeness I will continue this series because Hayder‘s writing is excellent. Pedophile and child abuse are hard to read about and the book is definitely not for the feign of heart. Jack learns more about his brother‘s death and who killed Rory Peach. Recommended for those who love thrilling serial killer books.

Andrew65 @EadieB Yes but resigned just before Christmas so have had acting person in place. Part of reason been soooo stretched this year. (edited) 6y
