1. Sunday jazz
2. A 3-hour lunch convo with one of my best friends yesterday
3. Picking 80+ tangerines from our tree today to take over to our church‘s soup kitchen
4. Library holds came in (finally!)
5. It was warm enough today to wear this t-shirt 😁

TheBookHippie Love jazz!!!! 4h
Texreader What truly lovely joys!! And the tangerines!! 😋 (edited) 4h
BarbaraJean @TheBookHippie Me too! I‘m spoiled—my husband is a jazz musician and his combo plays at our church monthly 🤩 4h
BarbaraJean @Texreader 💜 The tangerines are a delight except that there are SO MANY!! I love being able to share them at our soup kitchen 🍊 4h
TheBookHippie @BarbaraJean Mr Book Hippie plays the saxophone 😊 We visit Jazz clubs when in the city (Chicago) and in the summer his church in Chicago has Jazz once a week. It is lovely isn't it? 4h

4.5 ⭐ This book is lovely. It‘s simple but it‘s well done. It has a definitive pat pattern. It rhymes well and it doesn‘t try to be more than it is. The illustrations by Suzie Mason are wonderful and altogether, this is a pleasant work of art that sure to be on Library shelves for you to come.

FWIW I didn‘t finish the book. Not because there‘s anything wrong with it, it‘s a great book on a great topic. I quit because I think I‘m one of the lucky ones that is generally happy. I am content. I don‘t have a lot of negative self talk. If I find myself in a funk I can refer back to this book. If you struggle with being happy, you should check it out.

I bought this for some challenge or another last year but then never got to it. I finally got to it this week and enjoyed the author‘s travels while looking for the secret to happiness.

DogMomIrene I bought this one years ago. I think it was for a book club I never got to😂 Will need to reconsider this one. 1mo

This book falls in line with The Blue Zones; much of the content was familiar to me. The Japanese people of Okinawa have a very simple way of life, and it turns out to really pay off for them. The keys to aging well are the same, from everything I‘ve read: nutrition, fitness, mind, and social. These are also good tools for countering cognitive decline. I‘m adding this book to the books helpful to discuss at death cafes. We already know what⬇️

JenniferEgnor to do and not to do, regarding our bodies, minds, and our surroundings. The question is, will we? Slow down—live in the moment, do good for your mind, body, loved ones, environment. Do what you love, and keep doing it. That is the way of Ikigai. 1mo

This is not an authoritarian creed on the evils of smartphones. What this book addresses is the next seemingly obvious question - if you detox from screens, how are you entertaining yourself? You probably don't have a great answer and neither did I. This is one reason kids refuse to leave their screens. This is at the core of why adults are often worse than kids with their screen addictions. People just don't know what to do with their free time.
