Magpie Murders | Anthony Horowitz
post image

In a mysterious mood so I bought two highly anticipated (by me) mysteries today. And now I can't seem to make up my mind. Neither can my cat, although I'm sure he thinks they both belong to him. Thoughts, Littens? #crowdsourcingmytbr #again #catsopinionsdontcount

Johanna414 Read the first chapter of each and keep going with whichever you can't put down 7y

Librarybelle I'm in the middle of Magpie Murders right now and am loving it. 7y

rubyslippersreads I think the cat is definitely choosing Magpie Murders, assuming it's a manual. 😸 7y
PatriciaU Ooh! I just bought Magpie too! Planning to read it this weekend. 7y
LiteraryinPA Selfishly I vote for you to read Magpie first so you can review it since it's one I think I want to read. ☺️ 7y
ferskner Magpie Murders! It's great! 7y
Laalaleighh @rubyslippersreads 😹😹😹 that's hilarious. 7y
NovelGirl82 I'm a huge Grisham fan, although I'm behind on my Grisham reading, so I'm sure that will be great. Magpie looks interesting! 7y
Laalaleighh @NovelGirl82 I started reading Grisham at 12 and couldn't stop. He's from my home state and alma mater! (And my alma maters rival for grad school ha) 7y
NovelGirl82 I was about the same age when I started reading him (I know it was mid school). My dad was a big Grisham reader, so I grabbed his copies & loved them! 7y
Laalaleighh @novelgirl82 I think Grisham books are a requirement in MS. My grandparents knew him so that might be why we had so many Haha. 7y
PatriciaU @Laalaleighh what did you think of this book? I finished the other night. Kind of mixed feelings about it. 7y
Laalaleighh @PatriciaU I'm about 4/5ths done with it right now. I'm loving it so far but very curious to see where it all ends up. Reading the letter from the sister at the moment! Will definitely let you know what I thought when I finish! 7y
NovelGirl82 Haha! Oh yeah! I'm originally from North LA, & I think my dad loved that he was a great southern author. I actually considered going to Ole Miss, but decided to keep with my legacy status at LA Tech. 7y
Laalaleighh @NovelGirl82 haha you didn't miss anything by skipping out on ole miss! (They're our sworn, bitter rivals) the campus is beautiful and the square is great but that's about the only good things there are to say about it. I can't tell you how many people I know transferred out of there. I considered it growing up too, but the first thing any student ever asked me during my first visit was "what does your daddy do"? like, before they asked my name (edited) 7y
NovelGirl82 They probably wouldn't have liked my answer- slumlord! 😂😂😂 I probably wouldn't have fit in with my parents business being owning low income housing (made a hell of a living at it, though!). No, I'm a proud Louisiana Tech Bulldog, just like that same dad. My first choice was Tulane. I got in, but couldn't afford it. So, do you still live in MS? 7y
Laalaleighh @NovelGirl82 haha. They would have just heard real estate developer tbh. I don't, I'm in Virginia now with my bf who's finishing up grad school and the we're off to D.C. for his job. We go back every now and then for weddings and such but we're both pretty happy to be somewhere new! 7y
NovelGirl82 We ended up moving to NM & I went to high school there. That's how I initially ended up in west TX. They're both quite a change from the deep south. Not necessarily an unpleasant one, when you don't hold to some of their more unpleasant ways of thinking. (Like my getting laughed at because I read all the time & am a "nerd", even though I'm more of an athlete than any of them) My whole family is still in LA, though. 7y

Siracusa | Delia Ephron
post image

#crowdsourcingmytbr again Littens! Which one should I pick next for my birthday book challenge? I need something that the pages will fly!!! (I might have gotten caught up playing the new Zelda game and need to make up for lost time) so:

Siracusa?
Thousandth Floor?
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society?

What do y'all think? (I can't choose I want to read them all!!!)

BookishFeminist Haven't read any of them but I've heard Guernsey is super good! The others I've heard mixed reviews on but might be up your alley. 😀 8y
JSW Guernsey is delightful and a quick read. 😘 8y
Desha Siracusa was fast for me because I wanted to know how things were going to turn out 😜 8y

Johanna414 If you want a guilty pleasure, crazy drama type, definitely go with The Thousandth Floor 8y
Zelma Guernsey is a charming but not fluffy read. It was better than I expected. Really enjoyed it. 8y
LeslieO Guernsey! 8y
Megabooks Thousandth floor! 8y
Laalaleighh @BookishFeminist @JSW @Zelma @LeslieO Guernsey was perfect. Thank y'all so much. 8y
Laalaleighh @Desha it's coming up soon! Glad you liked it! Did you get it through book of the month too? 8y
Laalaleighh @Johanna414 @Ebooksandcooks thousandth floor or caraval is my next read, I believe. And whichever one I don't choose will be the one after! Y'all do make thousandth floor sound enticing! 8y
Reviewsbylola Wow, by the time I got to this post you'd already read the entire book. 😂 Siracusa would've been my pick for sure. 8y
Desha @Laalaleighh Yes I got it through my BOTM but then I went to a Sicilian dinner author meet event with Delia Ephron (she was wonderful) and wished I didn't already have it so I could buy one there and have it signed lol! So instead I bought one of her previous books and she signed that one! 😜☺️❤️📚 8y
Zelma @Laalaleighh yay, glad you liked it! 💕 8y
Laalaleighh @Reviewsbylola Siracusa will be coming up soon. I'm like that with books. I either read them all at once or it takes weeks. 8y
Laalaleighh @Desha oh that sounds fantastic! I bet the menu was great! 8y
Laalaleighh @zelma thank you! I loved it! 8y
Desha @Laalaleighh it was, and Delia was really interesting to listen to and then so kind afterwards talking with and hugging people and posing for pictures 😍❤️ 8y
Laalaleighh @desha sounds so fun! How'd you manage to score an invite to that? 8y
Laalaleighh Teach me your ways haha @Desha 8y
Desha Lol @Laalaleighh ?...well first you have to move to San Diego, then you have to...wait! That's all! Just move to San Diego! ?We have a business here called "Adventures by the book" and the owner sets up all sorts of fun author activities...afternoon teas, lunches, dinners etc. She tries to make the "adventure" match the theme or part of the book. She even does author cruises! ☺️ You could join one of those! One of the adventures went to Africa❤️ 8y

Norse Mythology | Neil Gaiman

#crowdsourcingmytbr #LitsyHasSpoken

(But going to read the sequel to City of Blades first so I don't get the two mythos tangled in my head- I didn't expect to get my hands on the sequel so fast!)

❄️But then onward to the Norse Gods!❄️❄️

cariashley LOVE City of Blades 😁 8y
Laalaleighh @cariashley I'm really excited about it! City of Stairs smashed through my expectations. 8y

#CrowdsourcingMyTBR again, Littens. Which one should I read next?

Indecisiveness is my one of my biggest flaws. I didn't even pick this stack out myself, I just got the bf to grab seven random books. 🙈 Too too many choices.

Maike Norse Mythology! 😍 8y
Mimi28 Yes Norse Mythology 👍 8y
Lizpixie The Keeper Of Lost Things! I've heard good things about it. 8y
See All 11 Comments
LauraBeth I vote for Norse Mythology! 8y
Peddler410 Norse Mythology! Then let me know if I should get the audio from Audible - 8y
JPeterson Norse Mythology! 😄 8y
sprainedbrain Norse Mythology! I want to hear what you think of it. 👍 8y
Laalaleighh Well this seems almost unanimous. 8y
Nebklvr He did a good job 8y
Laalaleighh @Nebklvr didn't he? Thank you! 8y

Ok littens. Tough choices ahead. Def. doing The Wangs vs the World as my top choice. But then my other two are tough! Should I go with:

1. The mothers/Siracusa
2. The mothers/the fall guy
3. Siracusa/ Behold the Dreamers
4. The mothers/ Behold the Dreamers
5. Siracusa/ The Fall Guy

This is so difficult!!!!! Heellllllppppp. 🙏🏼

#BOTM #BookOfTheMonth #CrowdsourcingMyTBR

Theresa I'm in a similar boat. I think I want The Mothers & The Wangs vs the World from this month's selections, but I also want A Gentleman from Moscow & Dark Matter from prior months. I have an Audible credit so between BOTM & Audible I can cover all 4, but which is the best choice for the audiobook??? #firstworldproblems 8y
britt_brooke Of these, i've only read Siracusa but i thought it was fun. 8y
megt I'd say option 1, 2, or 4! I haven't read The Mothers yet - it's one of my picks for my own BOTM this month - but I've heard great things. 8y
Laalaleighh @theresa I think dark matters would make a great audiobook. It's fast-paced and sometimes a bit shallow but it would translate well to a different medium. I think. I got a gentleman in Moscow last month. Haven't read it yet but I think it's one of those "savor the sentences" type books. 8y

Litsy has chosen. #crowdsourcingmyTBR

Megabooks I love crowdsourcing my TBR! I didn't know any of your books. Not my genres. 8y
Laalaleighh @Ebooksandcooks it was great. I'm going to try it quite often from now on. Haha I'm just in the mood for a fantasy novel, it's my go to genre but I try to read everything! 8y
pppooraikul Next time I'll try #crowdsourcingmytbr. Hope you'll like this series! 😉 8y

Laalaleighh @pppooraikul yess! Let Litsy pick all of our reads! 8y
brendanmleonard This is a great idea - definitely need to #crowdsourcingmytbr 8y
syasutake Love that little white paw. I've been wanting to read this series for ages and will be curious to hear what you think! 8y
Laalaleighh @brendanmleonard what better way to decide on your next read? 8y
Laalaleighh @syasutake I'm really enjoying it so far! And 😻 at her little white paws. It's one of the first things we noticed when we adopted her! 8y

So I have 5 books I've read about 2 pages each in. Which one should I finish first Littens? #crowdsourcingmyTBR #PleaseHelpMeIcantChoose #IndecisionIsKillingMe

Grrlbrarian Oh my goodness. SUCH GOOD BOOKS 😍 I vote Daughter of Smoke and Bone then Sorcerer to the Crown then Invisible Library! 8y
Johanna414 I vote for either Daughter of Smoke and Bone or A Court of Thorns and Roses! 8y
Chessa Daughter of Smoke and Bone has the advantage of being a completed series, and it's really good! Sorcerer to the Crown is great though, too. I haven't read the others yet! 8y
See All 18 Comments
Blair_Reads I've never read any of these so no help there but just wanted to say how much I love this photo!!!!! 8y
pppooraikul Daughter of Smoke and Bone. You'll lose yourself in it in no time and it's really great. 😃 8y
moranadatter That's a fantastic photo! I've only read 2 of the books. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is amazing! So good! Sorcerer to the Crown has the honor of being my least favorite book I read last year, but I'm in the minority on that. 8y
Bookgirl Another vote for Smoke and Bone. The whole series is so beautiful 8y
cariashley City of Stairs!!! Such an under appreciated series. It's so incredible. 8y
ImaginativeMom I love all these!! But if pressed, the best I can do is call a tie between Smoke and Bone and City of Stairs. 8y
CaitlinSiem Daughter of Smoke and Bone and A Court of Thorns and Roses are my votes. I love both, DoSaB maybe a little more but the sequel to ACOTAR is one of my favorite reads of the year. 8y
MeganAnn I have Daughter of Smoke and Bone on my pile of TBR books. I'd love to hear what you think when you finish it! 8y
Peddler410 My vote is for The Invisible Library. That way you can let me know how it is -- it's in my extensive TBR pile! 🙂 8y
angrylilasian I'm gonna throw my vote in for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. 😄 I loved it but I had issues with the final book in the trilogy. 8y
Laalaleighh @Blair_Reads thank you!!' 8y
Laalaleighh @cariashley @ImaginativeMom I think City of Stairs may be next after DOSAB 8y
Laalaleighh @Peddler410 hahaha I'll hopefully get to it soon! 8y
KimM Daughter of Smoke and Bone 8y
